One of my favorite pieces of all time- it's the one that really helped me to fall in love with wind band music. If anyone ever has the chance to sit in on this piece, make sure you hang out by the low brass- you will learn the meaning of the word "eargasm" during some of those opening chords.

I thought it was "chordgasm"....

I know what you mean! I'm a low woodwind (Bari) and when my college band played this, I got to sit right in front of the trombones, tubas, and euphs. The wave of sound was amaaaaaaaazing.

I first played this piece my freshman year in college. I played the contrabass clarinet part, and I loved every moment of playing this piece.

Played this for my SEC honor band concert about a month ago, and when we first got the music back in November, I fell in love right away and I will never forget this song, one of my favorites along with Festive Overture

I played this as a junior in high school in 2006. This is still one of my most favorite pieces to play as an oboist. It brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it. ❤❤❤

3:25 always made up my own little poem-lyrics here as I waited to come in (in a trumpet). The French horns were so beautiful here I just couldn’t help myself

I read somewhere that it's a 5, but scales tend to differ. It's a pretty challenging piece, in any case. I've had the privilege of playing this myself. 3rd Horn. :]

@@bluebob951 We never ended up getting together because there weren't enough members, but we're playing it again for real this time. I've been so excited for it!
