I’m painting on a 12x16-inch stretched canvas, but you can paint on any type and size of canvas you like.
I used this reference image from GraphicStock: bit.ly/2mZFz7b
I used:
• A 1-inch flat brush
• A 1/2-inch flat brush
• My small cloud brush (but any kind of brush you use for scrubbing is fine!)
• A 1/4-inch filbert
• A ruler
• Chalk
• Matte Medium (completely optional, but highly recommended)
I’m using Liquitex Basics acrylic paint in the following colors:
• Mars Black
• Titanium White
• Phthalocyanine Blue
• Alizarin Crimson
• Cadmium Yellow Deep (Hue)
But you can use any colors you like.

I do have a question for you though. I've been searching everywhere for an acrylic tutorial of a sort of "miracle of life" type painting. Something that really expresses the true beauty of a woman's body and maybe even fertility or child birth. I have 3 at home, and carrying them and birthing them was the most amazing experience of my life. I've had ideas, but have never been able to lay them out properly. Have you ever completed any paintings like this, or would you ever consider creating a tutorial for one? I would absolutely love to see something like that. Just an idea. Hi Jane, I absolutely love this one. I love how you use the brush to make the stars, however, I have never been able to perfect it without getting it all over the walls and floors. So now I use an old toothbrush and I get a better coverage and less mess. Just an observation for the same effects.

Loving this!! This is touching me in the heart, in a personal way. My father and I use to star gaze. I want to try this latest one. Its beautiful. I have the most difficult time getting paint onto the canvas smoothly without "dragging". Then I end up going back over it while it is still wet and it looks worse. I think I am using enough paint and loading the brush correctly, but obviously, I am not doing it right. You make it look soooooo easy!

When you're painting a background, Frankie? Or when you're blending? If it's when you're blending, keep in mind that light pressure will help you get a smooth blend, while putting heavy pressure on your brush lays down more paint. I hope that helps!! Thank you

Some times I feel like the paint from my brush to the canvas dosnt get into the crevices of that canvas. I wonder if it's just the brushes sometimes. Thank you, Leslie! Is the brush you're using firm or soft? A soft brush will make that very difficult. A firm brush will have the strength to push the paint deeper into the texture. I hope that helps!!
