I used to think selfless people do not exist. That everyone who does good at least gets fulfillment from the smiles they see on other people's faces. But Robin changed that. He continued to make people laugh, and give the world a thousandfold of what he was taking, even though he felt miserable. Not growing up in the USA means I haven't seen all his movies by a long shot, but what makes me sad is the loss of a kind of person that is so pure, that we only encounter them a few times in our lifetime. And just like that, they are gone. And all we have left of them is these memories, and most of all their message, of which it is up to us to keep it alive.

I was thinking about this yesterday. He did get fulfilment from it - he said on numerous occasions that making people laugh and smile was part of the reason that he felt able to go on when he felt depressed. But - what's wrong with that? People say there's no selfless act, but truly - what is wrong with someone finding joy in offering joy? Someone finding happiness in seeing another person smile? Surely that's what we all want to be striving for - that is what would make the world a better place. There is truly something special in someone committing a 'selfless' act - but really, does it make it any less of a beautiful thing if it makes the giver smile too?

Dementia is a cruel batch. Things I've read about his last couple of years are heart-breaking. He literally felt like a burden to his family and that he was worthless when he was becoming unable to remember lines or perform the way he used to. Depression will make you think things like that. On the contrary, Robin, we loved you even if you never did another movie, ever. The laughter and joy you brought millions of us already was more than enough. You were enough. I'm so sorry your conditions made you ever feel like you weren't. I truly hope wherever you are, your mind is at peace . We miss you 💔❤❤

I was in Afghanistan when I found out he died. I saw it on the front of a magazine, after I got back to a place that actually got magazines. He was the reason I wanted to help people. It made me sad like I hadn't felt before. He was the shining example of humanity. Not perfect but, amazing in his imperfections. Just fantasticly human. Every once in a while a light is snuffed out and the world becomes a little darker.

I haven't watched a lot of Robin Williams and his movies. Really, I've only heard quotes and saw the movie where he was the dad and his son killed himself. But just watching this video, it physically affected me. I nearly started crying and I could feel myself rocking back and forth. My point is, this video is masterfully assembled. Even someone that *doesn't* know much about Robin Williams felt something incredible for this, and that's saying something. Katrin, I've loved your stuff and I've been following you for quite some time now, but this is the best thing you've ever produced. I sincerely hope it earns you a massive increase in your following and this becomes one of your most popular videos. I wasn't ready to watch this video, and the world was infinitely less ready for the loss of such an incredible man. Wherever he may be now, I hope he has his peace, and I hope he is well. Rest in Peace, Robin Williams. You will be missed, and never forgotten.
