"Everything is a chemical. Let's start there." YES!!!
@candicefoy6 ай бұрын
And some chemicals are toxic / endocrine disruptors, some are not. I don’t understand why everyone is now trusting cosmetic chemists on how chemicals affect the human body. The reality is research has now shown that the specific chemicals in sunscreen do enter the body AND do act as endocrine disrupters. The second reality is chemical sunscreens make up such a huge market that the FDA has allowed them to continue selling products until further research is done, by the chemical sunscreen market lol. We know how this goes…

Does powdering spf decrease it's ability to block uv rays?

What about companies like Badger Balm that use uncoated zinc oxide as the only filter? Is uncoated zinc actually dangerous to use in formulas per se or does it depend?

There is a spf50 sunscreen made with mineral and I kid you not it applies like aloe Vera gel - zero white cast. It’s called the FWBeauty mineral sunscreen. I’m even doubting if it really works.

I always wonder if spf protection still persists when foundation is put on top of it? Are there any studies looking at this?
@sumlem10 ай бұрын
I'm curious about that as well! I work in beauty retail so I thought about some possible factors. I can see how applying makeup immediately after sunscreen might alter its coverage. Makeup with a SPF requires a significant amount in order to get adequate sun protection. I wonder if the type of coverage, amount of product, and tools used affect how makeup without a SPF interacts with the SPF from sunscreen. A lot of foundations contain titanium dioxide for color reasons. I've seen tinted mineral sunscreen and makeup with titanium dioxide recommended for melasma and hyperpigmentation. Dr. Alexis Stephens has mentioned this in videos, specifically for melanin rich skin. People who wear makeup tend to touch their face less, but some do touch ups. Sweat and oil production throughout wear time can break apart makeup and sunscreen. It's not as convenient to properly reapply sunscreen over makeup.

Ive heard that using blotting papers or powders may soak up/absorb the sunscreen but is it actually true? I want to use blotting paper to remove the oils throughout the day but I don’t want to compromise the protection

Is there any merit to the claims that chemical sunscreens absorb into your blood and or disrupt your hormones?

Very informative and scientifically sound. It would be great to know if I could layer a tone up sunscreen and another say BOJ over it. Does that work??

Thanks a lot! I do have a question: Can the texture of a sunscreen somehow affect its protection level? I do get a bit of sunburn while using the famous Beauty of Joseon sunscreen, although it's a level 50/PA++++ sunscreen. I never had this issue while using the CosRx Aloe sunscreen, although this one only has PA+++, if I remember correctly. I wonder why this happens? They use different filters for sure, but I also feel like the CosRX is very nice for applying a thick layer to the skin and let it sink in evenly while the BoJ feels more watery and as if it would absorb almost too far into the skin. I always use plenty of product as I'm exposed to the sun/sky - thank god - daily.

if i have moisturizing skincare on my face and i powder over it. does it dry my skin? does it conteract the effects of my skincare? specially that i use hyaluronic acid.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but why doesnt makeup on top of the spf disturb the spf if skincare might distrupt it?
@debrucey10 ай бұрын
It does. This is why you should always allow time for your sunscreen to fully set before applying makeup, so the film is as stable as it can be. But you will always lower the spf slightly by applying makeup over it.

There was actually research done how wearing foundation with spf protection included affects sunscreen that's already on the skin. And the conclusion was that it was actually beneficial to wear makeup with spf in the formula on top of sunscreen (compared to people who only wore sunscreen and no make up on top)
@feefee28 ай бұрын
@laynaaa good to know. I had been wondering why they were putting spf in makeup when we couldn't use enough to get adequate coverage without it looking a mess. This explains it!

Do you think you could be allergic or sensitive to ingredients in that sunscreen? Do a patch test on a small area of skin on you face like your jawline and monitor that area to see if you are reacting to something in the sunscreen. Take a note of the ingredients and cross reference with ingredients in skincare that works for your to pinpoint the culprit. Are you washing your skin thoroughly at the end of the night? I always have to double cleanse when I wear sunscreen or else my skin gets clogged and turns into zits.

Hi can u please recommend me a sunscreen that's not overly moisturizing fragrance alcohol essential oils free and can be reapplied without making skin too greasy, I'm on retinoids for acne and I'm unable to get one, tried skin 1004 hyalu cica Which sting on my sensitive areas, purito soft touch was overly moisturizing for me

I use Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Skin Care Milk SPF50+/PA++++. I have oily sensitive reactive skin and this sunscreen is gentle on my skin and I can reapply without looking like a grease ball. However, I have heard some people saying it dries their skin.
