Excellent as always!! I do the same, but can't possibly spend Obagi prices for an essential daily product, especially when using to spec. Ordering from Korea (or Japan for that matter) is more expensive than Boot's, but half the price of Obagi sold here and not slimy, not school paste, not in my eyes. It is also a lot cheaper than presciption sunglasses.
Dr. Sam, this was a great video. Good to watch a dermatologist apply sunscreen & then apply makeup: the technique is the thing! For me, however, I use a light dusting of powder foundation and then bronzer followed by blush. Loose powder works well over my mineral foundation, which isn't tinted. Anyway, really liked this "demonstration video"!

I have found it difficult to find a good sunscreen that works with makeup. I live in Canada and our options are a lot less than in the US or even Europe. I finally found something workable and it is Laroche Posey tinted mineral sunscreen SPF 50. I make sure I let is sit for a couple of minutes before applying my foundation. I find it difficult to follow everyone sometimes. I have been told here in France that the first thing after cleansing your face should always be sunscreen then follow with what you like to do serum,day cream,foundation,your choice . I have used for over 10 years Avene sunscreen and then follow through with what i like to use next; just my point of view but I respect everyone's choice.
@siramea6 жыл бұрын
your serum and day cream can't get to your skin prperly if they are over the sunscreen- so to me it makes sense to apply suncreen after these.

Sunscreen creates a "barrier" to shield your skin from the sun... Chemical or mineral. Once that barrier is in place, there is NO WAY that your serums, moisturizers, or anything else you might be using is able to reach your skin. That's the point! Sunscreen is, and should always be, the last step in your skincare routine. And you must reapply every 2 hours or when you will be exposed (if indoors most of the day.)
Thank you, Dr. Bunting - Have a wonderful weekend!

Boo Friedmann Paula's choice sunscreens are amazing never sting....yeah your right the fragrance essential oils etc added will cause more irritation.....paulas choice, replenix spf 50 (one in tube and one in spray both are great excellent value for the dollar with spray) la Roche possay mineral spf 50 tinted n untinted, bare minerals spf 50 mineral primer is how they advertise it but it's just sunscreen, clinique pep start spf 50 slightly tinted again great option (sephora n clinique.com exclusive yellow bottom white top).....at glance they may not seem drugstore prices but I have not found over remotely decent drugstore sunscreen they either have fragrance and essential oils or they are so thick and chalky like paste not smooth n silky....I find many of these on sale and since I use a very generous amount daily n see that it's the absolute most critical step in my routine so I don't mind the cost....Asian ones are hard to find with 100% mineral and many have chemical sunscreen ingredients added that are banned in other parts so mineral is the best fit also Asian ones have very high alcohol content (non fatty bad kind) not only will that add more to that horrible stinging it will be greatly detrimental to the skin in the long run

How you reapply your spf during the day? On make-up?
@brittniep92195 жыл бұрын
She said before: wear only a tinted sunscreen that day. I'd say: IF you don't want to do that then buy a good mineral powder sunscreen and reapply that throughout the day. Or as she said in the video, slather a bunch on in the AM if you are wearing full makeup.
@wolfferoni5 жыл бұрын
@@brittniep9219 So you're basically saying only wear a tinted sunscreen if you want to wear makeup during the day? That's not realistic. Majority of people wear foundation. Powder with sunscreen really isn't a replacement for sunscreen, especially the amount she wants us to use all over the face. It's suggested to reapply every 2 hours so it doesn't matter how much you put on in the first application, you have to reapply every 2-3 hours. As far as I know, there really is no way to do this besides those spray-on sunscreens that a lot of korean beauty brands do or re-applying your makeup.

I disagree with the comments about not needing to reapply. The exception would be those who arrive to work early in the day and leave when the sun is setting... And work in a windowless environment (or at least sitting away from it). The ingredients in your sunscreen degrades.

I don't get it. you are all Loading lots of (expensive) spfs onto your face to get maximum protection but then putting makeup on as well ? I learned that in order to be really safe you have to REapply sunscreen several times throughout the day to make sure to get your actual protection you are striving for.. but that wouldn't be possible with make up? even the Packaging of the spf products say so. Am I wrong with that?
@brittniep92195 жыл бұрын
If you are working inside all day, you probably aren't in the sun a lot on weekdays.
@cv30835 жыл бұрын
I think it’s a matter of what you should be doing and reality. A lot of people don’t wear sunscreen at all and if they do, they don’t reapply. I reapply but that’s because I don’t wear makeup or sometimes I wear tinted moisturizer... so I literally wash it all off with a makeup wipe, a quick rinse, and start over. I’ve been able to do it between quick class breaks. I have doubts people with a full face of foundation, eyeshadow, blush, contour are doing that. I personally can’t reapply over the original layer of sunscreen... I think that would sandwhich the oil and sweat already on your face and lead to breakouts. However, there are Korean SPF cushions that exists that I know people use to reapply. I don’t think it’s as effective though because it would only be a thin layer. I think it’s a compromise they’ve decided on. I’d rather just stick to my routine.

Such a great content! :) Thanks for sharing all these info especially the amounts necessary for face and neck respectively. I use 1.7 - 1.8 g for my face + neck altogether, so i hope it is enough^^. I appreciate that you talk about makeup and sunscreen, because this is the real challenge when it comes to daily makeup. Without this big amount of sunscreen there would be no problem, but most beauty youtubers usually dont use sunscreen and of course their application techniques with a lot of rubbing and buffing does not comport that well with sunscreen underneath it. Therefore thanks that you mentioned the concerns regarding disrupting and removing sunscreen by specific techniques. I will try the beauty blender now :) Do you use it damped or dry? Does a damped one disrupt a non-waterresistant sunscreen? Thanks for your great videos and I would like to see more colour correcting content ;)

the general idea wit the sunscreens is to wait a bit - about 20 minutes ideally for product to sink in. That however as well as applying the proper amount of a product is completely impossible in my case.... Firstly, I don't have so much time in the morning, and secondly although I have a dry skin such a big amount of product together with my regular skincare and makeup looks simply awful... No matter what kind of product and way of application I choose... Btw - I found recently a very thorough sunscreens test on some american channel (hot and flashy or something similar) showing before/after application, with/without makeup etc. But the sad truth is performing most of sunscreens is unsatisfying and have nothing to do with the cosmetic elegance...

Thanks for your very informative video. Definitely interested in hearing what you have to say regarding under eye color correcting. I don’t know about anybody else but no matter what are use what product what color I could never conceal my under eye puffiness. Certainly open for suggestions thanks!

There's no way to get a 1/4 tsp on your face unless buying the really expensive stuff is there? I'm using Neutragena mineral sunscreen, and even with adding dermablend pigment, I can't use more than 1/8 tsp without looking ridiculously white. And I'm a Fitzpatrick 2, I think.

Dr. Sam or anybody else who has third issue: Can you recommend other tinted or untinted mineral sunscreens that match a very light skin color? My daughter has the lightest skin shade and every tinted mineral sunscreen looks way to dark but the untinted ones leave her with a strong white cast.

What about the timings between the different products application? How long should we wait between moisturiser and sunscreen and then sunscreen and makeup?

Hey! Could you maybe make a video about powder blends that are supposed to improve the skin? I saw a couple, for example this Glow Inner Beauty Powder, which is a blend of different fermented superfoods or something like that and claims to help with acne. There’s also another brand called Tropeaka, but this one is not fermented, so I guess more antioxidant than anti inflammatory? I myself have hormonal acne and actually it’s not too bad these days, but loved the idea of improving general skin condition from within... cheers!

I really liked the look of your sun screen but it has lactic acid which I think has caused my million tiny bumps I have currently. I use benzoyl peroxide cream and Differin already. Would adding lactic acid be to much for my routine?

This is so helpful, thank you. Do you use the same amount every day, or do you apply a thinner layer / lower SPF if you are going out at the end of the day, or on a very overcast day?

If you apply a primer and foundation after your sunscreen does that make the sunscreen less effective?
@jasleenkaurminhas06094 жыл бұрын
Actually it makes it work better. The titanium dioxide used in the foundation to make it look opaque helps increase the protection to a certain level and doesn't change the effect of a sunscreen. Just make sure to give it a few minutes for the sunscreen to work in before you use the foundation :)

You say that the sunscreen is matching your skin color but it doesn't at all.

How do you set that creamy consistency? I find that if I don’t put translucent setting powder under my eyes, my mascara transfers to my lower lids very quickly.

Do you do this every day, or switch to a different amount and type when you're working indoors or it's a real winter's day? x

Following the right amount is like throwing money out the window every morning. Sunscreen is very expensive for a little bottle. XD

Hello Dr. Sam! I' m writing from Dominican Republic. Thank you forma tour vídeos. I have a question for you. I recently bought a susncreen and it is orgánica it has coconut oil and other natural ingredients but it doesn' t glide un my skin. I mean is not easy to apply at all and it smells a lot like metal, like aluminium. Should i keep using it. Because i think that if is not easy to apply it may cause me wrinkles...

Dose the required quantity of sunscreen (1/4 teaspoon) change depending on product texture? For example, would you get the same benefit from Elta MD Elements (lotion) as you would Clinique Mineral SPF 50 (watery)..?

Can you really rub in the sunscreen in to your skin the way she did~?

I assume your beauty blender is damp? Do you just dampen with water or a specific product?

Are sunscreens in Europe regulated drugs like in the US? I feel more comfortable using sunscreens that are rated as broad spectrum and water resistant 80 minutes because I don’t really reapply every 2 hours (more like after work before going outside).

Does anyone know the name of the makeup she mentions here at about 7:13? It sounds like Burberry Bright Glow but I’m not sure.
