hi Sergio, I have some question.. I made latin jazz band with my friends and some of our songs are played in cuban (salsa, chachacha, etc). do you have any suggestion what the guitarist should play when the pianist playing montuno and the bassist playing the tumbao bass line? thx before 🙏🏼

I would focus on complementing the pianist’s montuno and the bassist’s tumbao. Use syncopated rhythms that align with the clave, and incorporate arpeggios. It’s a good idea to keep the playing minimal and rhythmic I think.

I’d have to hear it to know, but it could very well work. I personally like the idea of blending styles, it really depends how authentic you want to be.

What recording equipment do you use? I’ve got at present only a sm57 with a focusrite interface and the guitar always sounds dull… what to do?
