I tried Saran Wrap , pine shavings and vermiculite with peat. Saran Wrap and vermiculite / peat worked best. Pine shavings mostly shriveled up.

Saran wrap worked so good. Really cost effective as well. I had like 48/50 that stored perfect. Took out of cool basement about 1-2 weeks before planting and had tons of sprouts

I love dahlias too, wonder what kinda soil you have or what kinda amendments you added? Is it mostly clay? Sandy or ?

We actually have good soil here in NW Iowa. When I plant then I use the starter fertilizer and compost, usually composted manure
