Thanks for the help, only problem I encountered was putting the 8 mm bolt in prior to putting the replacement in. The bolt kept getting in the way as it wouldnt stay flush . After a few knuckle scrapes I took it back out and removed the bolt. It was easy to put in after placing the tensioner. Small problem from a big help... thank you for showing me what to do and saving me a few bucks....Larry

Excellent video.I was going to replace the tensioner on a 2016 with 92,000 miles but saw that it was covered by an extended warranty with a $100 deductible. Took car to dealer and told them belt tensioner was noisy. I was in for a surprise when picking up car with a bill for $250. Noise had to be diagnosed for $140. Diagnosis ,noisy belt tensioner. Diagnosis not covered by warranty.My fault for buying warranty and taking car to dealer.

Great video! I sure could have used your tutorial a while back lol. I went through this already, but I was at 120K miles. And you are correct, the serpentine belt will shred when the pulley seizes. I found that out after, having a new belt in there for about 1 month.

Thought I had a slight alternator whine, the kind you get right before your battery craps out. But I could still hear it with the radio powered off. Popped the hood and could hear the whine coming from around the alternator. The car has 84K highway miles and garage kept. Took a chance and ordered the tensioner. My old bearing felt good so I was very afraid it was the alternator. Put in the new tensioner and a new belt anyway, and the car is now amazingly quiet! Awesome !!!! Now good for another 84K miles hopefully.....Also you can slide up the coolant plastic tank leaving the hose attacked and move it out of the way for more quick access. THANKS!!!!!

Mike, I am very impressed with your video presentation which helps me a lot in replacing my belt tensioner next week, my car is accord 2014 sport. I have a question when I attempt to loosen the 8 mm bolt and the 12 mm bolt, should I do it in the normal way i.e. counter clockwise ? I saw somewhere it mentioned that the 8 mm bolt is a reverse tread ! does this mean I have to loosen it clockwise ? I never did any repair to my car except changing the engine oil, air filters. So I am scared to do this myself but I want to try as it costs me $400 plus to do this from dealer ! Also should I buy the serpentine belt tool (i.e. long bar) from Gear Wrench ? But they don't come with the 17mm, 8mm and 12 mm ! where can I buy the proper tool ? Appreciate your advice. Thanks from Francis

Thanks for the info...especially the size hex head you need. I had to drop what I was doing and go out and buy one. I had the 12 mm socket though. I never look forward to working in tight spaces. My car was rattling in idle pretty bad and it got worse in a short period of time with 120K miles on it. I was afraid the pulley would give out on my 45 minute drive to and from work and I would have got stuck on the freeway. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Mike, I just received the part from Rock Auto, and I do not know how to set the tension of the new tensioner ? is it control by the hex socket ?
@Sunshone7311
@Sunshone7311 5 жыл бұрын
It is a bolt molded into the tensioner that is used. Use a long handle wrench and socket to apply clockwise leverage to remove the belt.

Wow, had mine replaced with the dealer as well today, the first estimate was $300, then when it was all done, they called back, and told me it was a mistake, and only charged me $220. Only $64 for labor. - Kingwood(Houston), Texas

It does sound like a whirling sound, almost like a bad power steering pump (our car doesn’t have one but it does make the same sound). Here is the diagram: www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine/honda~belt~acg~31110-5g0-a01.html
