I found your channel by keyword searching "great lakes" awhile back. I'm a native of Wisconsin and know there is so much potential. Cheers to you for putting the great lakes on the map and showing off your skillset. Are you using the Soloshot to track your lines by chance?

Looks so sick! Which board dimensions would you recommend for a custom board to be used by a 90kg beginner su(foil)er that’s a competent winger? What about the foil? Seems to be little gear tips out there since the dw board and new ha foils breakthrough.

Hey Thanks!! Id recommend about 40 Litres above your weight in KG. So around 130L. Kalama performance is coming out with really nice boards Theres a "Big Cuda" 8'7" coming out 130L think would be ideal. Length and Vol. with be your friend. Also need stability while waiting for waves is important. Foils are so depentdant on conditions... Id recommend the LIFT 220 HA to get you started.

Looks awesome! I live on Lake Michigan and I am stuck as to what equipment to get. I have been surfing (short boarding) for over 20 years and winging for 4 years now. I am looking for a no wind foil board to ride surf. I don’t have to much interest in DWing, I am really just in it for surfing. I am having a hard time choosing between a 40 ltr prone foil board, a 100 ltr 6’6” sup/DW board, or a 110 7+ DW board. I want to catch waves early and pump back out and catch more. What are your recommendations. I am 75 kg.

Hey thanks. You’ll definitely enjoy and ride the “impossible”. Waves will be looked at with a different lens! Total game changer. Anyways both work, prone and stand up are good options. I’d say go stand up because you’ll be up on foil a lot earlier compared to prone. Allows to setup for turns easier. Your wave count will be way higher on the SUP. Downside of SUP slight loss of performance. To me the advantages far outweigh the loss of performance…. A 7 ft board doesn’t seem long. Foils are in the middle of the board. So around 2.5 ft. In front of your forward foot. When it is big the longer boards seem to dampen the mush aswell. I go with the big board… If u can wait a month or so I’ll be selling that Armstrong board for a great deal. Perfect size for my 75 kg. Might not be the best to learn on though. Sounds like you’re experienced and don’t mind putting in the work.
