I already quit wow a month ago. The reasons were: 1. rampant class/spec imbalance, especially with healers. 2. no frequent balancing updates 3. Crappy ranking, mmr and reward systems 4. My friends also quit 5. I got the feeling that pvp players are just not the target audience

PVP was never Blizz focus. Played on and off since vanilla and it never felt like the content I enjoyed (pvp) mattered at all.

I also canceled a month ago. Your 3, 4, & 5 were also critical in my decision to move on. Also, for me, the game moved away from the modes I prefer. I have 5 kids four school aged with activities. I can't sit 20 minute Qs then lock in for another 15-20 minutes of 6 rounds without moving from my seat. I prefer 2s spam Qing when I have a chance but Shuffle and SRBGs have destroyed that mode. I understand most people like them therefore, I just have to accept the game isn't for me anymore.🤷‍♂️

@13samfootball that's funny. I wish there were completely separate rewards for shuffle. Sort of like the LFG version of PvP. That way, people would still be encouraged to play actual arena. Then again, as I said, it's clear the game has gone in a different direction. 🤷‍♂️

Gladiator here, and mythic raider - I went from retail to classic because retail is just too much now. I like the chill pace of classic, it’s low stress, and fun. At 2.4k or a +10 or mythic raiding, it feels more like a part time job than something you can have fun and enjoy with

I also love the social aspect of retail, everyone gathering in OG/barrens for buffs, walking around the world and seeing tons of other players, the “feeling” of safe zones (I.e an Inn) and venturing out into the world, into dangerous places where you could be killed (whereas in retail you are just a god nuking and destroying everything)

Game needs to change it's focus. WoW was never meant to be hyper-competitive and focusing on the e-sport dynamic has destroyed the game. Button bloat, addons, convoluted gear and currency systems, toxic community all add unnecessary complications to the game. Games work best when they're easily accessible, but difficult to master, hence why FPS and TPS do so well.

The game really doesn’t focus on the e-sport aspect anymore other than putting on the AWC. The problem is that the PvP population has self-selected down to a small group that in general is very good at the game, so getting new people in is difficult when you get stomped right out the gate. They need to be faster with balance/MMR changes to keep the remaining PvPers happy, and I think at best that would cause some people who used to PvP to come back and give it another shot.

I would say they went in that direction with war within. They focused much more on the story and world building. I’m not to concerned with e-sports. I’m fine with mythic being built around race to world first. I enjoy watching it even though 95% of players will never see the mythic end boss. I’m complacent with heroic end game.

@@swing9this It is better in TWW but still has a long way to go to attract new players, instead of returning players. PvP is a whole other can of worms. Making arena the core PvP game mode in a game with a massive world like WoW is asinine. How are they going to balance 30+ classes and specs? They could easily invest that energy to expand PvP into something similar to Warhammer or DAOC. Where there's less pressure on the individual player/class and less reliance on queues.

@jeff230394 Not all play arena, and yes, some can play in green gear in RSS and Blitz, but one will still be at advantage. To gear up many play epics and random to get conquest for gear and sometimes quest. When this is effectively gated due to the large number of pre-made groups, it makes the task of gearing up arduous. Sorry, but no one wants to endure that while learning when one is a new player. The game will never grow as long as any progression is inhibited. Ever.

it's just so much time consuming, it's beyond stupid. The amount of work necessary to get good at a class is astonishing. The amount of games to play to get raiting too is too much. We're about to end the season in a month I'd say and the curent R1 is still 2589 lol with less than 5% of players above 2200. Not talking about the people that play that game 12 hours a day for a living, the every day guy that comes back from work to play needs to put TOO MUCH effort into this game to thrive. They made alts so much easier to lvl but it takes ages to master them if you want to go into the competitive play. Trying to learn a new spec or class ? Get rdy to get SMACKED and blamed for every reason. Go figure people switch to classic ? They don't need a second job when they come back from work.

I personally feel something weird in RBGB it feels that i always play against some alts of gladiators. Im relatively new player and i even cant get 1600. Last weeks i win maybe 1 of 6 or 1 of 7 games in average and i dont think that im so bad that i single handedly ruin games for the whole team, because i actually trying to play smart and not running aroynd the map mindlessly. Something feels off in matchmaking in the last few weeks and its so frustrating that I dont want to login just to spend hours losing losing and then losing again

All efforts to attract new players are futile if they can't fix the underlying problems that make even long-time players quit. People are quitting, because WoW PvP becomes worse by the season, not because there are new games being released.

Playing a healer in SS is stressful af and requires the other team members to not do something ridiculous and get themselves killed in an instant, so when I go 4/6 and gain 0 rating and then go 5/6 and gain 8 rating, it really gets on my tits

I stopped playing because it's clear that the resources and focus is NOT wow pvp. Pvp is a second class citizen in wow. full stop. The best time to play is when a new expansion drops and the devs are trying to pump metrics by releasing frequent balance updates. Anything past that is pure masochism because the devs are allocated to other projects that are deemed to be a better ROI for the bottom line. Not mad about it - it's nothing personal, just pure business optimization from Blizzard.

Last expansion I had trouble to find a raiding guild, now I have trouble to even find a long term 3v3 partner. I know blizz now refrains from sharing active subs. My guess is at this rate, it already dropped below 3M. That’s also a generous number including the seperate CN mainland servers. The end is near.

2 years ago, I was in a 800 member pvp guild where peeps rushed home after work to get on the tier 1 rbg crew, with 40-50 active members online all the time. Now rbgs are dead with just a handful or two online.

I really tried this expansion to play but am at my wit's end here. Finally had an hour with no meetings so I queued for solo shuffle. Got in 30 minutes later(figured I would only get 1 round in anyway) and join a game with Venruki and 4 other gladiators. I go 3-3 and gain 18 points at 2200. An hour of time to face a rank 1 player/glads for 18 points and not even making any notable progress to elite. Very demoralizing

I canceled my sub last month and can honestly say it's because the game just isn't for me. No shade. I absolutely HATE solo shuffle. I have always preferred 2s. However, with everyone abandoning the game to play 5 different versions or one of the more accessible modes it has obliterated the 2s experience for me. Most of the people I played with have either also canceled and moved on or have ditched to follow ONLY FANGS around or whatever they do over there.🤷‍♂️

WoW doesn't respect your time and requires other stuff for the game to actually work/function. They have made the game for the 1% of players and not the 99%. I'll talk about my experience recently in Battleground Blitz last month-ish or so, I've won about 70% of my games. Really strong and got to....2350+ actual rating with 2600+ MMR. I've had TWO 10+ consecutive loss or tie game losing streaks this week alone. I don't want to say I'm without fault...but these games we're SERIOUSLY being out damaged and there are a lot of 1600-1700 actual rated players that have 2500 MMR that are not 2500 MMR players because when they run into 2200+ actual players, they can't play the game. So I pay the price when we lose and they don't. While the MMR may look equal, the actual skill levels are NOT when the game actually plays out. It's not fun. Also, playing a healer in WoW PvP is miserable. Everyone has focus kick macros so even when you dodge kicks, there's another one off the top ropes that will get you. And if you somehow managed to dodge all of them, there's a steel chair waiting for you...the stun/garrote/death coil/death grip. Get outta here man. The game did it to itself adding too many abilities to all these classes that ultimately make the game not fun for your average player. Everybody has a stun, everybody has a ranged interrupt, everybody has instant CC, everybody can fly across the map. It's ridiculous. Who is going to pay $15 a month for this continuously? And to top it off, Blizzard put SoD and Classic outside of the retail game so people end up dedicated to one version of the game. Except those versions of the game really have no future. No achievements, no nothing. I played the 2020 Classic game, and the toon I made is basically dead. They should have had a portal in the the retail game so you can leave present Azeroth and take your existing character to Classic WoW or SoD all within the game. This way if someone is making progress there, they can always come back to retail and actually play the game without messing their flow. Instead, they fragmented their own base and we wonder why things are the way they are.

A lot of casual players enjoyed PVPing in the open world. But that being made redundant has completely pushed people away from it too. We forget that this is not simply a queue lobby for shuffles and 3s even tho most pvpers treat it like that. Bloody tokens are unusable for anything relevant, the conquest gear is just better, you can't even buy consumables with it, can't even transfer it to alts for that early gear boots. Follower dungeons instant queue are sucking the last bit of fun out of wpvp as well. So naturally people turn to whatever it is that is most popular, shuffles blitz and arena, and even that has enormous problems and a huge barrier to entry. Why i think wpvp is so important is that it was like a stepping stone in learning how to pvp when i was a new player myself, learning how your class works when youre alone and trying to kill/survive was a HUGE stepping stone before entering rated arenas.

The list of problems are gigantic, and they don't seem to want to fix majority of it. 1- Very few pvp tuning when compared to other games (league does balance every 2 weeks without fail) 2- queue times are insane 3- MMR should be way higher for people to hit their goals 4- Reward system is outdated, you can only get glad mount from 3x3??? What a joke 5 - button bloat and hard to learn game for the average new player. Apex for example or fortnite is way easier to play 6 - blizzard itself don't seem to care about pvp at all. For me, it's the reward structure, including for alts, feels a bit too long. Makes for a good adrenaline rush but not very satisfactory. Also coming to realize that I'm an aging adult with more work and responsibilities so my time is getting shorter. The game has too much work for so little reward and it has to change and be more accessible. What's more fun, having to wait with time gated content or having the freedom to become as powerful as you want with skill? Not to mention the game costs a subscription.

Nobody remember comp stomp? It's literally named that for a reason lol. I wish the bots were a little better but it's for newbies to get better and be able to farm honor to gear up a new char and actually "feel good" about themselves instead of getting wrecked by someone who plays consistently and is just gearing up their 5th alt. Also, make it a playable thing not just a random thing that comes around. That way the new people can actually try it instead of waiting however long the rotation is

They already improved the bots in comp stomp. Initially they were so bad getting perfect was almost every game. The bots now don't let that happen as much if at all. The bots will interrupt instant casts as well or stuns. Yes, they are still crappy but they are improved from when that BG began.

I 100% support idea of healer bots at any solo shuffle rating players need to get much faster queue times 10 min is to long 5 min wait should be maximum time wait for game. They can make separate solo shuffle q with healing bot and one with player. So players can choose what is more important tho them it’s come to same skill wise players will have equal disadvantages or advantages playing with healing bots. But most importantly they can play game instead staring in screen waiting for q to pop up and when you get in game healer players rage quit and you are back in 15 min q. Who in there right mind will like to play that game. Its not a game anymore hahaha

Here’s a controversial take, in wow pvp, gear shouldn’t matter at all. There’s already a huge skill difference between players, then addons make a difference too and not all players use them, and then there’s gear. Please correct me if I’m wrong but don’t most popular online pvp games have all players balanced at least as far as power goes. Obviously you can’t fully account for player skill but you could allow them to be equal in terms of gear. They could create a bg/arena to practice with bots similar to follower dungeons, purely for learning the objectives and practicing your rotation in a live environment without gimping your team.

Second, are you going to elaborate on why you think it’s a bad idea? Bear in mind that gearing wouldn’t change for the game on the pve side of things, i’m merely talking about pvp, where gear balance actually matters a lot. Nobody likes getting stomped on by someone who completely out gears them. I’m worried that pvp is doomed to slowly die as fewer and fewer people participate, queue times will continue to get longer and longer, we as a community and blizz need to actually find a solution, if you change nothing, nothing changes…

Make the game interesting again, stop chucking out expansions every couple of months. Spend actual time on the expansions, making them feel like they were made with at least some Passion. All expansions since warlords have been very dull, after a month of play you have done it all and boredom kicks in. The armour sets and general gear looks like its been designed in one day. Feels like there are no developers left who give two shits about the quality of the game.

One thing I devs could do to ease new player experience into pvp and even pve is reduccing buttons but I dont mean removing spells but rather integrating 2 spells into 1 button and design talents around that, for example they changed Sharpen Blade into a very dumb way now you always sharpen when you Colossus smash, rather than doing that they could make it after you collossus smash that same buttons turns into sharpen blade as in "reactivate this ability to sharpen blade reduccing healing recieved by your target..." and many more spells and you would say "well its dumb what if I want to use something first and..." yeah you just redesign the class design so that conflict isn't an issue.

These issues did not exist when the game started. People/kids are lazy nowadays. They want everything quick and easy. I cannot imagine what they would’ve done back when the game was a total grind if you wanted to get somewhere. No Ground mount until level 20, no flying mount until what, level 30 or 40? Trying to figure out a system how to make it through a dungeon. Hunters had to set traps, mages had to sheep before a boss encounter . Now it is just a senseless running through it to get points. When the game started it was level 40 ground mount. 60 faster ground mount. Then BC introduced flying. Think you may have started later in the game if that was available to you. That grind was horrendous, fun for the first time but a huge time sink. Good times but not trying to relive that now. Respect our time. I think currently retail is still a huge time sink for other reasons, but even more boring. What was different was a lot more dungeons and raids to do, let's bring that back. Why only 8 and one mega dungeon, and fated raid shit. Blizz is lazy and just wants money now.

I say redo the game and scrap the GCD style gameplay and go for a hitbox/hurtbox style game like monster hunter. But they will never do that or have the budget. Cheap fix: Make healers really fun to play and have them contribute to dam in a more meaningful way for small windows. Slow down the game 10% and less micro cc... Game feels like everyone is a mongoloid smashing their head on the keyboard. Coordination and communication is what should win games. Right now regular dam feels like what a go should feel like. Just make solo DPS only with no bots. Everyone gets a lay on hands every two minutes and they have to choose when to use it. That kind of thing would be fun.

We need pvp servers back, warmode is bad. Also remove flying mounts or heavily limit them and you can only play one faction on those servers. Give better rewards for pvp maybe something like a battlepass system but don't make it pay2win.

They need to make rewards based around participating rather than cr, I think that would keep people playing more and have less to worry about when hitting Queue. Idc if someones 1600 and has the elite set or enchants, if they have to play x amount of games over 1000 rating then that would be better than mindless grinding and/or Qing at certain hours where people know whats going on just for the chance at a reward.

it's a culmination of things. player base being to spread is the biggest issue. Blizzard literally paying streamers to play hardcore. it's this para social self worth thing.. its also because retail is too much of a hamster wheel. The color pallet of the past few expansions has just been...... the colors are just not dark enough or something. it doesn't look or feel like wow.. why would anyone want to play wow that doesn't look or feel like wow? we don't even have the option for the original UI...why tho? just to take away from the vets? idk obviously the people working the game DO NOT RESPECT OUR TIME. and they just blindly make shit they feel is right because they have been enabled to... this is also reflective of someone working on something they did not birth. the majority of people working on the game have 0 insight on the effort it took to make this game.. its very obvious it's a volition of their own desire at this point. extortion at its finest.

They have to make the game fun at all levels, high end M+ is fun because it removes the bullshit affixes. High end PvP is fun because you're insulated from the worst parts of PvP eg. lower skill players acending the learning curve. Low end is fun because you don't give a shit. But mid-range/midcore players get the worst parts of all ends. What incentive is there for new players to play this game? Low end of any game will be mindless fun, but trying to dedicate to WoW is all-or-nothing.

You may hate to hear this but, the game needs a SOLO path/quest chain to FIRST season BiS that requires max level. Imagine this solo path to FIRST season BiS only taking 12-24 hours of gameplay WITH AT LEAST SPEC knowledge to finish. See the problem is WoW doesn't separate itself enough from games like fortnite, marval rivals, games with instant gratification and ease of access. Truth is WoW needs immersive action packed cinematic rich quest lines with vulgar, offensive, and politically incorrect characters with complex personalities and motives. Like I've said in comments before the game is too soft. WoW is low key(perhaps not so low key) rated E for Everyone, basically suitable as a Wii Game in 2006. To attempt to get kids 18- to be interested in a game like WoW, it has to have the same appeal as GTA, CyberPunk, even Mortal Kombat especially story wise. Yes, I'm suggesting to making it more for Adults. Not just to get kids interested but for everyone and of course to give the story and characters creative room. Now there isn't just one simple solution but what I've described is the route that ticks a lot of needed boxes. New Players at Max level get skill checked before any serious group content, while also being exposed to lore and needing to CC defensives perhaps niche spec/class abilities etc while also providing returning or experienced players something immersive and different. A quest chain that provides FIRST season BiS is important because the expansion is intended to get people who never played before. They need to grow the slower or more casual population before they fizzle out in the sea of meta players not even leaving with an impactful story that is worth recommending or replaying, or returning for the next expansions... I stopped playing WoW cause I don't want to grind for gear and stuff anymore, and I'm anti-social. I wouldn't mind just going around doing WPvP collecting nodes, questing, but I know there's no way to BiS through that, which honestly I think there should be. However, I realize I'm likely disagreed with. Though I do have to insist that there is a first season BiS obtainable through SOLO means with every single expansion. I'll probably come back for player housing regardless though, which new players would just be inconvenienced by. Speaking of inconvenience, PvP needs to allow players to get BoP item appearances with a drop chance of like 10-15% and above with some the drop chance calculating how expensive it would be or time consuming it would be. This perk should apply to past expansions items only. Maybe the trading post could sell past expansion stuff for honor or something... I don't know. There's a way to make it work though. Also, I'm tired of how many currencies there is in the game...not sure how to fix that.

No bots -- instead add an optional check-box in solo-queue that's for "DPS only lobbies" - this allows the option for players to just play 3dps v 3dps games for quicker queue times, without having to rely on healers with similar rating. important that this IS NOT a separate queue from the rest of solo shuffle, just an optional check-box so everyone is still in the same pool.. If you had this box ticked, maybe 1 out of every 3 games on avg would have healers? ALSO, make going 3-3 NEVER LOSE MMR IF YOU ARE HEALING. You can let the lower rated healer gain rating if they go 3-3, but the higher rated healer SHOULD NEVER LOSE RATING FOR GOING 3-3!

Idk how to feel about bots. I'd probably have to see it in action to make a judgement. I think one of the biggest issues facing PvP is the fact that 99% of the rewards are shared among 5 different brackets which fragments the player base, especially when 2 of those brackets are solo queues. I think what would help getting new players is if Blizzard made an animated WoW Netflix show.

The elitist side of wow is killing it The mythic plus became trash this season die to elitest players who feel that 2600 ratimg isnt good enough to do 10s. Myrhoc raids were very overtuned this past season. Rated pvp became trash for 2.reasons 1. Addons that take away any secrecy pf what players are about to do. 2. Way too much cc that dominoshing returns has no impact on.

I m playing maybe 1 day a week now. People are asshole in Raids. Can never get in a Mythic.. and takes a fucking month to update equipment. Takes too long.. PvP is bullshit.. certain classes are way too powerful..

Blizz need to steer focus away from competitive pvp seeing as its the smallest portion of the player base, make BG's good again and watch the pvp community explode again because that is the players first access point to pvp...arena is something you progress to but they NEED to focus on casual pvp content if they want pvp to survive coz there is ZERO new players even touching pvp

If you are dreaming about this game will grow its number of players or have as much players as at the start of an expansion (because basically that is the only way to fix que times, have more players) you are delusional. I could cry a river about how shit the game is atm, how every class can heal themself, how rogs cap flags in RBGs less than 25 sec, how evoker and monk healer is basically uncatchable, disc priest can not be killed by 4 ppl, the amount of addon requiers to enter to play competitive pvp, the elitism that is getting more and more common in M+, the amount of 1shot mechanic against tanks in M+, playing blitz on 1700cr with 2800cr multiglad players, the time when u can lie back in your chair and have a coffe,read a book, because you got cc'd by a rog for eternity and they hit harder than anybody. Ohh wait I just did cry a river...BUT these are not the main issues of the game. There is one major problem with this game and its been a big for a long time. The game has 0 passion and expansions are produced to milk players, this is not a game anymore that was made by developers who wants to make games that they want to play. They don't even have target audience anymore, they just want more money the fastest and easiest way, and if you don't believe see for your self in this two interview.
