Just came across the best video on vocal production by a producer named Nick Mavromatis and I realised how it’s not all about mixing. His production on vocals is just INSANE. Heavy processing is what made metal what it is. Even Metallica used a LOT of studio magic to make it happen in the 80s. There’s a reason why Master of Puppets is was tracked 25% slower and sped up in post.
