The thing is, Ultra Instinct can be mastered by the Gods too, but not all of them have. In the manga, Beerus can do it but he hasn't mastered it yet, he uses it when him and the other Gods had a spar. Whis and the angels are above Gods of Destructions.

It was another throwaway line, but they did mention that you just have to kill the 'Kaioshin' and the God of Destruction dies too which, by extension, would deactivate that universe's angel or however the fuck that connection works. It does seem really stupid that if all that was going down that the head angel or the King of Everything didn't intervene, but hey! The all-mighty space emperor of all existence apparently has the mind of a toddler so who's really the stupid one for expecting anything to make sense?

I've been enjoying the show since they got out of poorly adapting the movies.

And it amounts to nothing because Goku's form runs out and he doesn't do shit to Jiren, but Jiren doesn't eliminate him either. Guys, Dragonball wasn't always this bad, was it?

griffin patrick, The antagonists in Z were also handled better through the arc we got a good idea of their personalities and up (I think cell was handled the best but I also liked buu's), but for Jiren they didn't bother even giving him an episode pre-tournament, he's mostly said few words and glared during the tournament, and finally we only recently know that he wants the dragon balls for something.

Watching podcast rn. I think Plague is forgetting that killing a Supreme Kai would kill their linked God of Destruction and that Zamasu is both A. A prodigy of fighting and one of the strongest Supreme Kai's in terms of martial arts and that B. Zamasu is capable of travelling through space and time, he also seems to forget that Zamasu has Black on his side who is strong enough to push Goku to use SSJ2 while in his base form alone. Also Zamasu is immortal to add on-top of that so...Zamasu going around all 12 universes and killing the Supreme Kai's which kills the God of Destructions which in turn deactivates the Angels which outright destroys every powerful deity in the multiverse barring The Grand Priest and Zeno. Now why would The Grand Priest not stop Zamasu? maybe for the same reason that they are destroying over half of the multiverse right now? it is very well possible that the Grand Priest is seeking the destruction of the multiverse so Zamasu's plan lines up with his own. We would have to see what the GP's backstory is and what goals he may or may not have to decide if Zamasu being alive by the time of the Black arc makes any sense.

When Trunks from Z went back to the future it splintered the fabric of reality which means when Black Took over Jiren may not have even been born in his own universe. It also wouldn't have been difficult to kill Jiren because the failed Supreme Kai used the Super Dragon Balls to wish for an indestructible body which means Jiren could blow him apart as many times as he wants but eventually Even Jiren looses stamina

I think his problem with it is that the series took too long to get the good stuff. I love HxH, but even I admit that the first dozen episodes or so is a bit slow. I guess its a old school series type thing. The modern ones doesn't do that since they know people will lose interest quickly ie like Woolie.

Yeah... I know what you mean. The beginning especially feels like it drags on with the first couple of episodes concentrating on just FINDING the hunter exam. Then the next dozen on a bunch of hijinxy exams like cooking. It comes off like just another run of the mill shonen anime. Skip forward a 150 episodes and we have Netero stabbing himself in the heart to activate the little rose bomb. It sucks when something you love gets shoved to the side, but you can't really defend it since the complaints are kind of legitimate. The only thing one can hope in a situation like this is that the person consumes the media in question years later and feels like a fucking idiot. Heres hoping.

Its a shounen thing. Episode 1 till 3 the MC struggled with a level 5 grunt, but 100 episodes later he is fighting a level 67 mega boss. The big difference between then and now is that the mangaka now knows and make sure to approach it in a more streamlined and faster manner. I doubt Woolie will watch it, just because he seems to be burned out on the long running series in general. Just look at it this way, if he still haven't finish his fav series, then he won't even bother with the others. I'm surprised he even got on board with Academia, but thats probably cause Pat kept annoys him about it.

Its heartbreaking because to me academia isn't even that good. Under its colorful cast it just comes off really simple to me. Funny, because thats exactly what Woolie was saying he liked about, that he FEELS like they are having these deep strategic battles. I've watched so much crap over the years that I can't just see it. Academia is colorful and fun, but the battles in that series just feel like the same superficial shounen stuff we've seen for years. I can honestly say the only time i got hyped for academia was the All Might Plus Ultra from the end of season 1. Woolie would shit his pants at the stuff the nen users start doing later in HxH. FUUUUCK! This feelings the worst!

I wouldn't go as far as that its not good. I can definitely see why people like it. It has that Saturday morning cartoon feel to it, which most people loves those. My first immediate reaction to Academia is pretty "Wow....this is the most shonen thing I have ever seen in a long ass time". Woolie mentioned it in the podcast, but basically he said the series ticks all the shounen box, but does it in a way that he likes. I can agree to that. The series knows what it is, and isn't ashamed of that. It actually probably even double down on it for good measure. I think if there is a major criticism of HxH, its that Togashi took too long to settle into an identity. The series is either nowhere or is all over the place up until the Nen stuff, and thats like what....30 episodes in? 3 arcs in? Even longer than that if we are counting the advanced stuff. By todays standards, that is a long ass time before we got something worth saying "wow okay....we are witnessing something special here". I dunno...I want to bitch about Woolie giving up too but at the same time I also knows why he does. Its also important to remember that he loves anime but isn't a really a hardcore anime fan per se. People just elected him that because he is THAT guy compared the others.

It's really much less of an asspull for Trunks and Goten because it was implied to be developed off-panel with a plausible reason (they're children of super saiyans who are training near another super saiyan), and this element only came into importance in the story long after it was introduced, not right when it's needed.

I think we always just got it wrong. Goku isn't Superman. The characters need to be focusing to be unstoppable. It's active defence, not passive. We've seen it before with Frieza, a massively weakened Piccolo kicked final form Frieza like quarter of a mile a way because he was distracted by Goku. It's the same later when Goku gets shot with the laser. He could deflect that thing all day, but he wasn't paying attention so it got him. Vegeta couldn't do anything to Cell, but a weakened blast was enough to make him flinch when he was distracted by Gohan.

Ultimate Despair Gamer tm There's an abstraction between power level based on Ki and just brute physical power. Thats why many aliens in Frieza's employ were confused by power level control. They're all like alien superheroes in DC or Marvel, they have a high power level entirely based off the inherent power of their species with zero training. They saw PLs as being a scientific gauge of a creature's power. There was zero mysticism in how any of it worked. The weaker troops use laser guns and armor because most don't really "get" ki. They're strong and can fly, because their species is strong and can fly. The moment Frieza noticed saiyans were getting stronger, thanks to their recovery ability, he blew them up instead of just.... Lifting? It took two different Dragonball series and three movies for Frieza to figure out he just needed to make gains? Saiyan's are bulletproof and can turn into giant apes...that's as far as they went in the eyes of even their own species. Goku wasn't human from day one. Maybe he wasn't canonically a "Saiyan" but he was based off the Monkey King. The character is already "physically" hardier than any human by nature. Learning martial arts helped enhance that strength but he was already a supernatural creature.

The Curl what did that have to do with my comment kid goku in db caught off guard couldn't be damaged by bullets, launch also shot him when he was sleeping, there's zero reason goku should be hurt by anything as measly as a bullet even caught off guard

You're also forgetting that DB started off as more of a gag-manga. Characters would get sprayed with machine gun fire for being perverts (with bloody holes and everything) and then shrug it off in the next panel. Also, just because a pistol bullet wouldn't get through Goku's skin, that doesn't mean no gun couldn't. There is obviously some level of "toughness" involved but it's not as high as when they are actually fighting. Honestly, I think Mai could have killed Black with her sniper rifle.
