I only real critique about the original opening is, I felt like they probably didn't even need any dialogue since the cinematography tells the story so well without it. But I know a lot of people have trouble following things like that. Primary thing I notice from the original and this, is the lack of wholly overpowering, orange and dusky lighting.

The one thing I kind of miss visually about the original version is the lighting in that main room. I remember the altar used to have an incredibly bright backdrop, upping the bloom with godrays pouring in around it, and gave the atmosphere around the girl a sort of distant and ethereal vibe. Probably just a nostalgic nitpick though, the update looks lovely in general.

One thing I'd argue art-direction wise that's missing from the original, are the EXTREME white lights. 12:03 is a good example, compare that to the original. There was some nice, otherworldly stuff going on there art direction wise that seems to be gone throughout the remake. (I think it looks fantastic otherwise.)

We have everything in this playtrough. Woolie getting stuff wrong. Foot stuff. Crip walking. Pat didn't pat the horse while dashing and standing up. Missed the lizard in the main temple and the fruit in the first tree. Outside of that, I really like their knowledge of this game. The game tells you so much by simply showing, cinematic yet full of gameplay.

+Sajirou Plays I mean, RedBox is a thing. You could rent things like AssCreed and beat it in a few days while only spending $2 a night. Really good alternative if you want to play a game, but not spend too much. You could also emulate the Shadow of the Colossus, too. This game is definitely worth experiencing first-hand if you can.

There actually is slight aesthetic worsening, it's not as foggy. The reason this matters is that multiple colossi seem to have been designed so that you not being able to see their faces well and then see there faces well as an intelligent choice

The Final Fantasy X remake has this problem too. Originally a lot of areas way off in the background had fog concealing them and the nebulousness of the graphics made it look mysterious and dreamlike... then the remake comes along and removes the haze and all of the mystique is just gone. It sucked.

I don't remember having trouble seeing their faces in the original. I think I remember it being more foggy, but I also remember a lot of texture pop-in, so I'm not really complaining.
