Super Bowl XVIII - 'NFL Week In Review' Version - Redskins vs Raiders - Enhanced - 720p

There were two NFL Films productions done for Super Bowl XVIII. One was the John Facenda version and there was a Harry Kalas version. The Kalas version was never offered for sale by NFL Films and thus was never released on DVD. A few years back I traded for a VHS version of this program which was recorded from TV. I replaced all same-shots that were available in other DVD master films with their respective high-quality counterparts. The remaining portions that were left and thus unique to the Kalas version were very blurry. I used Topaz to upscale the entire program to 720p which sharpened things up quite a bit. Resolve was used to make minor color adjustments

This was the version that aired on HBOs Inside the NFL. The other version was Black Sunday narrated by the great John Facenda his last narration before his passing in 1984. Harry Kalas was also fantastic on his narrations. Both of them turned the games they narrated into main event status.

I've watched the Facenda version numerous times, but this is only the second or third time I'm seeing this version. Great job once again, Dave. 👏🏼

I missed this one last week, Dave, but then I also missed it back in '84! Always great to hear Harry Kalas on NFL Films pieces. Steve Sabol said in an NFL's Greatest Moments episode entirely on Facenda that the Super Bowl XVIII highlight film was Facenda's last work for NFL Films. (Facenda died Sept. 26, 1984.)

They had chances. Bengals had a late lead vs the 49ers. Bills missed a walk off game winner vs the Giants. Steelers blew it vs Dallas and people still think Neil was paid to throw such horrible passes.

I used to work with a guy that was drinking buddies with Jack Squirek. He lived an inconspicuous life over in the Tampa area and would only talk about his time with the Raiders and his famous SB touchdown upon request.
