Thank you for wearing safety glasses! It drives me nuts to see mechanics work without them. I think it's a great example for anyone who works in an environment where there are possibilities of getting eye damage.

I worked in a transmission factory years ago in the turning dept. They were like Stasi in east Berlin about safety glasses....one day we had to go to a department meeting, and they showed us a film about the importance of "safety glasses.." The narrator of the film showed a guy at a grinding wheel and explained how the projectile released from this operation could send a fragment at the velocity of a .38 revolver.... I kept thinking ' I can be shot in the eye with a .38 and the 'safety glasses' will stop it?".....try it.
@pywaketpilot Жыл бұрын
@@imtheonevanhalen1557 No, safety glasses won't stop a bullet. But they will stop a metal fragment that weighs a fraction of what a bullet does. Mass matters...

Mike, this is a really fantastic series and it makes me so glad that I don’t own this car as I wouldn’t want to pay a mechanic to do all of this work.

In reality I often wonder how many times most owners would ever change that fluid in the supercharger, it’s always nice to see a mechanic who does preventative maintenance, thanks Mike great video!👍🏻

Great walk-through - no more (or less) detail than needed. Always love the montage moments too because they're always your own custom music; makes each one feel "new" and interesting.

Nice tips & tricks! That certainly is a low profile Scharger, but grew up with roots style, always finding a new way to mount, lol. Definitely a piece of engineering... Thanx !

Never thought about super chargers taking their own oil, thought they would be fed from the 5W30 in the oil sump. Consdered getting a thunderbird super coupe about 8 years ago but didn't wanna have to deal with the emissions testing of a pre OBD-II supercharged car.

I'm so jealous! I have an R170 SLK230 and unfortunately it's probably gonna sit in storage this summer until I can save up the money to install new main lift cylinders for the vario roof.

I don't think I've ever considered a SC fluid change before. I wonder how many supercharged cars out there have never had their fluid changed, let alone regularly serviced? What's the recommended service interval?
@magicmikethemechanic Жыл бұрын
According to Mercedes this is a lifetime fill and fluid does not need to be changed 😂 I’d say every 50k miles.

Great video Mike. I Have a question though,what type of oil did you use (viscosity etc.)?
@mohamedazkoul9544 Жыл бұрын
The fluid is Mobile Jet II or shell Aero 500 or 560 capacity is 150ML ...whatever quantity comes out the same should get back in.

Mike thinking of doing this on my slk 32 - is it difficult removing the belts to get to the drain plug ? Not done this before any advice many thanks Dave
@josephsager9425 Жыл бұрын
Is actually super easy to remove the belts on this engine. Get a wrench with sufficient leverage on the tensioner pulley, pull, and slip the belt off the smooth idler.

Thanks Joseph - are the pipes easy to do ? Not sure what supercharger oil to use

MM we have to get you to 50K subscribers and soon ! All YOU have to do on your titles is mention either Hoovie or Car Wizard ! You could have double dipped here in your title ! You could have said something like ! " Changing SuperCharger fluid in the Hoovie Free SLK after hours in the Wizard garage ! " Yep click bait . But it's true ! Get more people to look because of buzz words, hopefully they'll take a look and subscribe !
