Six minutes in before a safety warning! Back when I was a child, I really wanted our family to get a Soda Stream, but alas my dream was never realised. Maybe it's time I got one. Thank you for the tip. Great video.

Oh my, do get if it's only on sale. Believe in or not I've been using it since my childhood with those little glass bottles. Never exchange those expensive co2 bottles again. Thanks for supporting my Patreon and being awesome !

8-16mm pellets are the best to fill the bottles, just drop them in, the longer they are the better, no smashing or need a funnel, also fitting uses a 24mm (15/16) spanner also dont need to undo the release screw, once low in gas, the pressure you low, you can just release by press the tab on top, or even just unscrew the fitting and release that way, any questions just ask, I use to do this all the time
@hecate235 Жыл бұрын
Dry ice pellets are impossible to find in my area -- and heaven knows I tried. But you lose a lot of CO2 while mashing it down small enough to get through the funnel.
@BeastNZ Жыл бұрын
@@hecate235 how much do you pay for dry ice and how much do you get?
@hecate235 Жыл бұрын
@@BeastNZ Package sizes vary, and run about $7/lb. Since the cylinders are 14.5oz, i try to buy about a pound. What i had to learn, and other clips din't tell me, was I needed to use a plastic funnel, First time, using a metal one froze to the cylinder, i couldn't seal it up, had to wait for it all to defrost -- and so lost all the CO2.
@BeastNZ Жыл бұрын
@@hecate235 arrh yes you need plastic funnel, use plastic or wooden utensils, dry ice reacts to metals. use chopsticks to free up hole in funnel when it becomes blocked, weight it as you go, overfill it slightly as you will loose some when tightening up fitting, also use closed, bottle becomes very cold

Would a blender work better for making the ice finer?
@BrownEye2 жыл бұрын
Tried a blender, much simple to smash it !
@moonolyth4 ай бұрын
did so.. you need a wide dish to drop it to. Also a chopstick to stop and go for the blender as it will stick. The silicone funnel is a very good plus!

I never thought you can replace the co2 gas with dry ice .
@BrownEye Жыл бұрын
Dry Ice is frozen carbon dioxide. Unlike most solids, it does not melt into a liquid, but instead changes directly into a gas.

How long does it take to melt
@BrownEye2 жыл бұрын
Usually 2 hours at the back porch.
@michaeljorgensen790 Жыл бұрын
It doesn't technically melt. It sublimates. Frozen CO2 goes from a solid directly to a gas without becoming liquid. The cylinder will frost up on the outside when it is initially filled but when the frost is gone most of the dry ice has turned into gaseous CO2. You actually can start using it while it is still frosted because as soon as you seal it it starts to pressurize the cylinder.

I have seen many videos showing this dry ice method. But no one have shown the performance in the machine afterwards. I am also curious if anyone have tried to use a funnel and fill the tank with sodium bicarbonate and citric acid granules. Add a few ounces of water and seal the bottle. To see if the mixture would pre-charge it a little.
@JohnnyX7-m3m3 ай бұрын
I tried it with dry ice and the method works well. You just have to be patient and add only the correct amount which is 410 g of dry ice to match the pressure rating on the can. don’t add more than that because it may not withstand the additional pressure, let it sit for several hours after you get the valve on and tightened. When the ice on the outside of the tank is all gone it’s ready. Screw tank into your machine and you’ll be amazed. It works really well. I would not use the bicarbonate of soda mix because it’s messy and doesn’t generate much CO2, nowhere near the volume of that dry ice would generate
