On those engines, you should put kerosene or diesel in the crank case first, shake it up a little, then drain it out to remove metal debris from manufacturing, then fill with oil.

Thats a hard pass. I know all seals will be eventually exposed to trace amounts. But trace amounts is less than straight solvent in the case. No thanks. Just change the oil after an hr.
@specialservicesequipment393
@specialservicesequipment393 Жыл бұрын
@dennymcelhaney8652 you know that's a common way to flush crankcase? BTW, it isn't tiny amounts of metal from wear, people have videos where they found very significant metal debris like lathe shavings, and milling Chios in the crank case. Btw diesel and kerosene have little impact on oil seals.

I used to import a range of Chinese diesel engines into Australia in the 1990's. The quality back then was variable, from rubbish to good. But one thing we found with them all was that the injection pump timing was usually specified to be 18-20 degrees advanced. On one 5hp engine in particular we found that this lead to failure of the piston, con rod and crankshaft. The engine would also be had to start, sometimes run backwards, and would have a very sharp knock to it. We found that reducing the advance to 8-9 degrees advance would make this particular engine run much better. In the end we adjusted the timing on all models of engines and they started and ran much better, with a significantly longer life. Another problem we came across was with the S195/S1100/S1105 series of horizontal cylinder engines with 2 balance shafts. The balance shaft bearings would fail prematurely, but fitting maximum fill bearings fixed the problem. Anywhere else the factories R&D would have fixed these problems, but not in China in the 1990's.

Hot water on the cylinder will start it in cold weather. Ether can damage the motor easily. I use 15W40 oil. It's a 20 MM shaft. I don't run it up to 3 HP or high RPM. It's a jewel.

I got one on my hay elevator and it works great. Seen them rated between 3hp and 6hp. I think it's comparable to a 5hp or 6ph gas engine. Have about 10 real working hours on it so far. Gets about 8 hours to a tank of fuel. A youtuber called Mossy Creek Vids did a tear down of one of these. tldr: well designed, well machined, poorly assembled. Check torque on the bolts, and inspect for metal filings in the crank and cylinder.

I've been looking at these recently, trying to think of a reason I need one. There's a good video of one on a go cart. Theyre just so loud unless you get into cummins/onan generators that are on rv's but the size becomes the issue. Im sure someone smarter then me could make an exhaust/ case but out of the box theyre so dang loud, maybe thats why they dont make many diesel generators

I agree with what state allows sales, because I am positive that I can buy them too, probably a strict state like California where they dont even let you smoke a cigarette without whining would ban an engine like this. becides diesels are much cleaner than gasoline, they seem dirtier because of the black smoke, which is just merely soot that falls to the ground anyways.

These engines have been around for years now. Just wasn't able to buy in the US . I guess you can get these little motors here in the US now. Wonder how difficult these motors are to start in cold temperatures? Then if it were used with a generator head, I don't think you're going to get 3600 RPMS out of it before it flys a part. I still think that a converted gasoline to propane stationary engine would be the best choice. As they say, you get what you pay for. If a person needed to use a diesel engine , there are a few engines much better than this you can buy right here in the US. Yeah... your gonna spend a little money but we'll worth it.
