In Canada, one hour return means one hour round trip. Just so's ya know. Beautiful video. Happy Birthday. Thanks for sharing.

That's such interesting word choice! To my brain there is the trip out...and then the return trip. I think what really threw us off was the term we would have used "Round trip" was used just before to describe the distance. -J

@OpenRoading
@OpenRoading 3 күн бұрын
We do! Interestingly Alaska doesn't have deer ticks. We got worried for a bit because Trinity kept getting target shaped bites outside one of our spots in Alaska but it turns out it was an odd reaction to mosquito bites. (We were able to observe a mosquito bite her and then watched the spot). It was freaky to see over a dozen "bullseye" bites on her!!! She apparently doesn't like the blood suckers up here (although not once did she itch or chafe at them.) -J

That was super brave of Joseph to go into that structure. Beautiful a shots! Maybe because you’re there so early in season the growth hasn’t quite gotten full yet and that’s why they said you need bushwhacking. Also 1 hour return on hike maps means for whole loop, not just up the stairway. Although it shouldn’t take 1hr to do a 1.4Km loop!

Hi guys , as a full-time nomad off-grid guy. I can give you some potentially life-saving advice when you're in the Alaskan bush . Carry a whistle & bear spray , don't let your pup too far off-leash, God forbid you should startle a Mama bear & cubs . But there are other unforseen dangers lurking , those trash piles and landfill are a host to animals , rodents , snakes etc... be safe out there 😅.

@@OpenRoadingthere is no doubt in my mind the accuracy of that statement. I had no concept of what a mountain stream could be like on an 80° day in May until then. It is just so deceiving. We are all enjoying the videos so much. And Trinity seems to be doing well outside. Boy I hope you weren’t around any fireworks, just thinking she has never heard them before. Our baby has been unable to go outside after dark for a couple of days.

So sad indeed! I'm sure it has wrecked a lot of people's plans. We're not planning on being up there till late August so there is still time for us but I feel bad for everyone who had that lined up as their June highlight. -J

Your vehicle is not yet dirty at all. It will see far worse as you go. The bears and moose are always cool. When we did the Alcan within a 15 minute drive, I saw bear, moose and a wolf. That was very cool.

@@OpenRoading Sounds like you took my advice and have accepted things will be filthy. That is Canada and Alaska as far as what the areas do to vehicles. Just enjoy the treasures you find while there. I just hope the wildfires are like normal this year and you have a great trip. Take care and I will keep watching.

I subscribe to both you and wild rv life. I don’t know if you or them are open to requests but I’d like to see more interactions with them and they show diff interactions with you on their channel. I was excited when both of you guys decided to take the journey to Alaska together because I thought I’d see more of you guys on both channels. Thanks

I so appreciate the feedback. You'll see us pop in and out of each others channels throughout the summer - but there are a few reasons you won't see a LOT of long segments with each of us in them. - Our goal of traveling together was to hang out as friends. We haven't had the opportunity to just hang out with really good friends a lot while we are on the road so the primary goal of traveling together was to enjoy our friendship. - We have 2 separate channels to maintain with unique content. If we collaborate hard on videos we are doubling our shooting work (Example, Craig and Victoria would have to make time to shoot large segments with us and us with them). This is on top of our normal workload. Not impossible, but not as practical. This also comes with technical hurdles (4 mics instead of 2 for good clean audio...which is what our mic receivers max out at) - While there is crossover but we also have different itineraries. Today Craig and Victoria went (redacted because I didn't ask permission to share) 😂 while we went to a wildlife center. A couple weeks ago Kalyn and I explored a glacier while WildRVLife jumped ahead to explore a different city. The beauty of this for KZbin is that you'll see far more Alaska content between the two channels than if we all did the same things each week. I hope you're still excited to watch - and keep your eyes open because we of course will be including our friends in on videos and I'm sure we'll be making appearances in some of theirs. 🙂 -J

I don't know why, but dogs instinctively do not like bears. I have seen dogs that have never seen a bear get very nervous when a bear comes around.
