I've got a banged up VW Transporter that I bought yeeeeeeers ago for next to nothing. A friend built me a pull-out bed for it (I assisted with beer and holding stuff when needed), put in a propane stove and suddenly I had a camper van! Not the prettiest one, not a lady magnets (I think my wife also helps with that, thankfully), but it's been around Sweden and still works! It getting a bit old though, so I'm looking for a newer model (any make). As you can tell I do things on the cheap, but it's great when you go and visit someone and have your home with you! They are way cheaper in Sweden, so it's not an expensive thing. Oh, it's a Syncro so that makes it even better! Snow is not a problem, I use it to make a path for the "first car" that my wife drives, it a snow plow :-D I hope the Jeep turns out to be the best thing ever!

Definitely use the super duty axles and 38s! Lots of good info on what spring to use on the forms.

I would go with Toyota axles or maybe jeep. I know you like cheap so the Toyota solid axles might be to spendy. The advantage to my mind of a Jeep is a narrow track width which makes it more maneuverable. Although full width axles are stronger and heavier they also have less ground clearance making bigger tires a must.... all things to consider. For cheap solid axles that are built well check out a Land Rover discovery I or 2. Those axles are good and you could buy the whole Land Rover for nothing. People hate them. With your love of the blue oval platforms for builds I would suggest a e350 or e450 mini bus or ambulance. I’d I was going 4x4 you could source an already done version or so it yourself. The mini bus is super cheap. Maybe not box truck cheap but the body is pretty stout. I always dreamed of a 4x4 e350 7.3 powered 4x4 ambulance for adventure rig. The nice thing is a well done conversion brings great money when complete. For me if I did not start with a 4x4 district or company converted bus or ambulance normally quigly, the 4x4 would be the last part of my build. You can enjoy and do a lot with 2wd, good tires, a winch and smart driving. I now have a contractor cap on my old Chevy pickup and while not ideal it is great for weekend camping and small enough to four wheel comfortably. If I was taking the wife or a freind I would go a diffrent direction and build a bus or maybe a bus toy hauler build and use a Jeep for 4x4

Box camper 2.0, for sure. ujoint kit would be awesome, but i feel like you could cobble together most of the necessary parts yourself for a lot cheaper. It would be rad.

I'm kinda lost, wondering what happened to the truck with the camper, I think you said you sold it. The other travel trailer , looks like it's gone. The boat project, looks like it's gone. It's hard to keep track .

Sorry, its an adventure on this channel with projects. Trying to get my visions aligned with my wife's and trying out a little of everything along the way to see what works. I don't see it as a waste of time if you are learning along the way. Bonus is not loosing money yet.

the axles seem a bit wide for the jeep platform?
