Crazy to me that I have had more or less all of these experiences. I still feel like no one will believe me or does believe me in the times I have shared. But it’s really helpful to hear about this work and experiencers being taken seriously and not immediately labeled schizoaffective which did happen to me when I shared these experience in my youth with a psychologist

Could it be mostly genetic? Experiencers ran in my family. My mother is a medium, so are two of her brothers. My cousin is a hyper experiencer. My mother spoke to her dead grandfather when she was 5. I don’t see ghosts, but UAPs. My 2 children saw an UAP during a flight early in the morning. They were flying by themselves from Canada to Brazil, it was a white tube that moved from horizontal to vertical position. They didn’t tell anyone in the plane. They were 11 and 8 at the time. I have few friends who have seen UAPs. Since I started studying it, I discovered so many new friends that have incredible experiences, that I now say we are millions hiding the truth with the fear of being labeled crazy. And none of us looked for it. At the same time so many look for experiences, and nothing happens. One experience I had with Ayhuasca was that I spent a week without connection. It was a weird week. I didn’t feel the energy of nature, of people; I was just a material person on a material world. It was a great experience. It taught me empathy to the people that don’t believe in anything. I still struggle with some of my experiences. Are they real? Or I have a hyper creative brain? What are we?

Jeffrey, it's wonderful having this second talk with Sean; personally feels like having 'Michael Talbot' back %> Just to say that on the broders of Tibet (where I lived for 22-years) they know full-well about interdimensional beings; this is how they feel safe living in such 'dangerous' locations. Twice, interdimensionals appeared and saved me from falling to my death and then disappeared in front of our eyes. They appeared as simple and very humble tribal men. After this, I lived with Lamas where no westerner had ventured and they confirmed this and said these beings have always been included in remote Himalayan cultures. Just to add that before this, I was a psychotherapist in London for 2 decades. From age 3, I have had the full range of 'transpersonal' experiences discussed (apart from seeing big-foot). It would be interesting to take part in Sean's research.

I paused the replay at the illuminating discussion about the "grays" because of Jeffrey's comments concerning the Prajnaparamita Sutra/Heart Sutra and its core dictum that form is emptiness and emptiness is form (33:25). I've been a Mahayana Buddhist for most of my life as well as a practicing shaman for decades, and a student of UFO phenomena and abduction phenomena. I think Jeff is spot on when he speculates about the vast power of Mind to project and introject the presence of myriad non-human intelligences. Also, consider the general term "gray" which as Sean Esbjörn-Hargens points out is used broadly and rather vaguely: there is something inherently unclear in that which is termed "gray." As a species of spirits or fairy-folk, I believe these common entities take on forms recognizable to the percipient. And there are other types of non-human intelligences that can do the same. (I'm not sure what happens during abduction experiences-I believe they are real for the abductees, but I'm not convinced they actually take place in 3 Dimensional space aboard material crafts-but, maybe!) For Buddhists, all phenomena is fundamentally an expression of Mind, with its unlimited potential. Your "gray" might appear to me as a "gnome"; your "tall white" might seem to me an "elf"-nor do I want to be limited by taxonomies. When I encounter beings during states of non-ordinary consciousness (what Michael Harner, a teacher of mine, called the "shamanic state of consciousness") I'm interested in the nature of the interaction and why specifically such a being might appear to me. I might well choose to ignore them, but I am not quick to dismiss them as mere figments of my imagination or seductive distractions. The shaman's path requires discernment and courage; it is the way of the adventurer, as well as the way of the wounded healer. Sean Esbjörn-Hargens goes on from this point in the interview with an excellent expansion on the dynamic, paradoxical situation of what he calls "doubleness": encounters with "others" that are also encounters with "self." Jeffrey, you and your guests and co-hosts are always breaking new ground. I've been a fan for many years! 🙏

I just have to read many times what you wrote. As someone who has met beings both on 3D as well as on altered states, you defined my struggles. Is my brain powerful enough to project wishful thinking? Are these beings an expression of myself? Is there a “next higher self” trying to direct my life towards an specific outcome? If yes, why? And why me? Genetics? Anyway, while there are doubts, one thing I am sure: the more I contact these beings, the better I am. I am a better person to the the planet and other humans, and I am a happy motivated person to myself. I see life as an amazing thing to be experienced. BTW, I am not spiritual or religious. I love science. My “gurus” are Miguel Nicolelis, the neuroscientist, and Jeff Mishlove for his amazing life work. Once more: thank you for your text. It planted a seed for thought ❤

Great insights around 22-23 minutes, first by Sean, where he talks about complexification in the Jackson Pollack style of painting vs. Ockham's Razor, and holding those two views in creative tension (right brain vs. left brain) and looking to see what comes from that; and Jeffrey's comment about William James, and the Pluralistic Universe, where each individual is a universe onto him or herself, or itself even, since thresholds of consciousness need not only apply to animated beings such as humans. / Also, Jeff's comment about "privileged explanations", which I think can be applied to the "Grays" which have become the default "go to" placeholders for anything E.T. There is so much traditional lore, whether in the oral traditions of the indigenous populations of the Americas, in petroglyphs, and in artwork from ancient Egypt, or from ancient India in particular, where "gods" such as Krishna and Ram, are depicted as humans but with blue skin, which would suggest that Grays aren't not necessarily the default we should be considering. And the fact that Tibetan Buddhist teachers, and Shamans in South America are basically telling them to buzz off when they show up uninvited during certain practices, should not necessarily be considered as close-minded dismissals by traditionalists, but as cautionary tales based on previous experiences with Gray beings.
@TenaciousDmitchell2 ай бұрын
All right, well into the lecture about the grays and how there's hundreds of types, I'd like to propose that it's all because there are many types of people and have different frames of reference so hence you're gonna get different variations of the grays.

Excellent interview as always! A few thoughts/questions: (1) Do Super Experiencers tend to have a similar history/background? I'm specifically curious about a history of childhood trauma or ritual abuse, but any common threads would be interesting to note. (2) When discussing the concept of Kosplay, how often does an experiencer take on the avatar of the non-human intelligence? (3) Could a shared dream (not unlike the concept explored in the film Inception) be one way in which an experiencer can "enter the sandbox" so to speak with a non-human intelligence? Looking forward to hearing more!

I definitely have the new cosmology. It’s written into reality. It is intimately related to materialistic science. The missing element is that everything is symbolic, as well as functional and practical. Both are absolutely necessary to existence. Not the “fitness payoffs” of classical evolution. Every unit of consciousness is indeed a universe, one that expresses the ultimate unity behind everything. When we connect to that unity then a person has more infinite creative potential. We can see direct evidence in each of our own lives, as well as in natural symbols. The large problem I have with older forms of spirituality is that they can easily go down paths that lead to conflict and extinction for life. That’s why the natural symbols, thought-structures in reality, are so vitally important. This includes science and mathematics. The point of all universes is to connect fully with the unity and to unify what we call the meaning behind all things. Like the blind men and the elephant. The problem I have with most spiritual teachers is they are like so many blind men touching that unity -they are motivational valences on our paths. But all things glimpsed darkly were meant ultimately to be revealed and we see this clearly in the epistemological process of science itself. Spirituality includes science, includes science’s reverence for the ancestral manifestations and ordering of a larger reality. My new book introduces this concept using the natural built-in symbolism and geometry of the human eye to open a portal to this new realm of human understanding. When I speak of it, to get over your resistance to the idea that god can come to Earth in people, remember that you are also that and we were meant to be and do this. ❤ My new book is: “Eye of God: Language of Universal Mind” and it is going to be the largest revolution in human thought in history. It is the future we have been building and heading towards for a long time. ❤

I understand the reflex to sterilize the data set but shamanic illness is almost requisite in most cases for an egoic, karmic reset or metanoia (choose your term) ; one exception might be children who are born with integrated and sustainable capacities, which in itself would produce an odd developmental model, even if it technically might not fall into the DSM mental illness categories. Almost all of the OT prophets would not be considered quite sane today (who has bears eat children, and be considered sane), and you can add to that most western saints (whose hagiographies mask much, no doubt) and the "crazy wisdom" folks of the east. Sometimes you have to go a bit mad to finally get sane, St. Pio was locked up and not permitted to give mass for a while and Carl Jung put himself away for a while and held onto his desk and looked at photos of family to get a grip. Most of these entities, angelic or otherwise, would scare the shit out of a normal person. We can't expect sanity to be quite solid in the modern age as we don't a support structures. Just my thoughts.

I lost interest and respect in the western Buddhism because personal growth was only supported in a very narrow view. Hierarchical and policed by dogma, as Sean says, ignore that and return to the breath. Only those ordained can explore further. Layers of secret practices instead of open support. I’m really just describing every religion and the power they attempt to hold over a population that has a high percentage of natural experiencers. I’ve known several people in my life who have had experiences that frighten them and with nowhere to go, no support they shut up and shut down what might have been a wonderful addition to their lives and to their communities

I started having these experiences while meditating up to 7hrs a day while living on a Zen monastery for 6 months. Western Zen is mostly agnostic about actual spiritual reality compared to its Eastern ancestors. I was thrown out of a Zen monastery during my awakening period because they told me to ignore and treated as delusional actual siddhi, which made it abundantly more difficult to navigate given that I could empirically test my precognitive dreams, and knew that these and other experiences were not delusional and actually were part of the process of egoic and karmic reset, which is naturally disruptive. Modern Buddhism actually gives you the practice but doesn't have the understanding or tools to navigate the normal outcomes, much like modern psychiatry. Its a serious problem. If you have the practice setting, you have to have tools to manage this process, for starters to actually believe it happens.

Why would people with “spiritual advantages” want to make their “human advantages” obvious in a hyper competitive world ? There’s that “Weird” Word again !
