Someone actually was selling a Super Nintendo for like $80 with this problem on ebay and wrote in the description "Rare Super Nintendo that plays in B&W! This is a rare defect from the factory and you can enjoy your games in good 'ol fashion B&W!" I messaged him telling him he's an ass for making a listing like that and reported him.

Always good to see a great, classic game system saved from disposal due to a relatively simple problem. I always enjoy these repair videos. They are some of my favorites. I have a Genesis model 2 with some cracked solder joints that I need to attempt a repair on. It's a later revision so it has the audio fixed from previous revisions making it particularly worth restoring to working order.

Thanks so much for this video! I have a different model (a PAL 1CHIP) with the black screen of death issue. After watching, I noticed a cooked trace near the same area as you pointed to. On my model, the cart wasn't booting because the blown trace was going to the CIC. Sure enough, a jumper wire fixed it! CHEERS!

As I've said before, you're the "Video Game Resurrector." Luke Morse VGR. I own all rights to that name(s) prior to this sentence. By accepting this (these) name(s), you're legally bound but not limited to 1) the resurrection of dead consoles 2) continue providing video footage (proof) of repair and 3) to change your introduction from "Alright, back again Luke here" to "Alright, back again Luke (Morse) VGR." Lol, I was bored and yet happy to see your repair videos :)

luke just a recommendation for future videos when working on boards. Can you get yourself a lamp with bright white or day light to shine on the board while filming? This would make the video more pleasing to the eye when viewing. I am a newbie for fixing electronics but would like to learn more. Where do you buy that type of wire or is it just a standard gauged you can buy at your local hardware store?

Got a super famicom off of eBay a few months back and have found whenever I use as it is black and white with no sound but when I use the rf adapter it comes in color though slightly garbled with sound. Thing is filthy I know I’m gonna need to clean it just wondering what could be a possible problem.

Thank you so so much! I couldn't find out for the life of me what was wrong with my beloved Super Nintendo! I could've sworn it was my av-out because it started to play in black and white while I was playing . I was jiggling the av cord in and out of the socket, finding it funny how you could slowly degrade the signal on the tv. ps. Don't do that :( I'll check out my traces, hopefully my SNES will be able to return to it's former glory!

My Super Famicom is showing yellow as red (But other colors seem to be ok) through rgb scart but shows all colors correctly through composite. What could be the problem? The RGB Scart used to work correctly before I opened up the console and got all the dust out.

Hi. My Famicom power adapter is outputting 14vdc. Is this normal? It's a 100v power supply (japan). If it's normal, what's the next voltage that needs to be checked (nothing appears on the monitor). Thank you. God bless, Proverbs 31

I'm having this weird issue that my SNES will play in black and white on my living room TV regardless which types of cables (colored and the screw kind) I use. It'll play in color on any other TV in the house regardless of which type of cables I use. So you'd think it's the TV, right? Well, that TV can play the NES (using the same video cable I use for my SNES), a Wii, Atari 2600, whatever, in full color. So you'd think it's the SNES, right? I don't understand. If my SNES is busted, then it would be black and white on all my TVs, not just one. If my TV is busted, it would black and white on all my consoles, not just my SNES.
@wolfang12alpha9 жыл бұрын
pollo20x6 It could be the crystal oscillator in the front of the system. I had a similar problem with a friends SNES which displayed in color on one TV but on all others it was black and white. After swapping the crystal with my working system the 'busted' one started putting out color.
@Bloodbound899 жыл бұрын
I got the same problem on my pal snes xD i just switched the tv from pal-b to pal-g and got all colors back . It is not every single time a broken thing sometimes it is just a wrong option ;)
@pollo20x69 жыл бұрын
I hooked up my SNES to a new TV like three days ago and it displays color. It's just one TV that's seems to have a grudge solely against the SNES and works fine with every other console from NES to Wii.
