The awesome thing about that neck set up is it makes it so when you do pull offs with the right hand you will have little likelihood of pulling the string off the finger board. Sometimes I play over handed with the left hand and it isn't difficult on most guitars to pull that low sting off the finger board. I like doing the same thing on the bass so I would definitely make use of that extra wood. Makes it nice for vibrato, too. You don't have to modify your vibrato technique to keep the string on the instrument. I haven't seen a coil splitting set up on a bass before either.

You guys are the best. Refreshing. I bought two of them HB Stingrays so that one can be used as a home decoration, or when I need to quickly grab a bass in the bedroom etc., haha

I own the 4 string 2 humbucker version. It's one of my favorites. I like it a lot more than the Sterling. I have two Sires, two Fenders and a G&L. This Harley Benton is their equal in my book. But my experience with Harley Benton has not been all smooth sailing. I have four of them. They all sound great or nearly so. The nut was cut wrong on one of them but otherwise, the builds were all way above their price range. However, all four of them had bad shielding and/or a bad ground. My Stingray copy was also picking up A.M. radio signal. And then customer service was bad. Per their request I sent a video showing the problems. Their tech department told customer service that this was all normal. I told them none of my other basses do this and none of the demo videos and sound samples had any of these problems. So they gave me $60. That won’t even cover half the repair cost. But even with this factored in, they all are great deals. In case anyone is wondering, my other 3 Harleys aren a 5 string P/J, a 5 string with a P pickup in the middle and a MM at the bridge, and a 4 string Precision. I didn't buy them just to have them. These configurations were on my to do list before I'd ever looked into Harley Benton. (Except the P/MM, which I didn't even know was a thing.) All four together cost less than any one of their 'inspirations'. Next on my wish list is their Beatle bass and one of their short scales. If it weren't for Bass the World, i might not have ever paid attention to H.B. Thank you, Gregor

Yeah I don't think you buy a Harley Benton unless you are willing and prepared to do some work on it to get it up to the right level. If you have the ability and tools its a great deal.

I have one since years, a incredible workhorse, at home or om stage. The low b is just killer. I play it a tone bellow, and low still sounds really good. This bass amazing for the price. I use an external preamp with it and let's go.

They might have chosen that string spacing because it's easy to pull the G string off the side of the fretboard on a Musicman StingRay5. I know, I have one. Need to be careful when fretting the G string when playing fast.

Budget basses used to be terrible. But they are very good quality now. A budget bass with good string set up and comfortable playing is more important nowadays.

I bought this bass. It was horrible. Tuning pegs in plastic. A string not in the middle neck. The magnet of the pickup not below of the strings. 5 minutes of playing and come back to thomann. Never again in my life a Frankenstein bass like this

I bought the MB5 and sold it right away. It rings good, but the string spacing is too narrow (16mm??? What the hell???) and the fingerboard is bizarrely flat. Is it absolutely flat (infinite radius) on Stingrays??? Don't think so...
@Andreas_Blom5 ай бұрын
Not to criticize but for personal preference I like the 38mm nut best and it seems all Music Man imitations have 43mm like the original. Jazz bass players are often left out of the Music Man world and have to resort to Sterling as their only resort. Now I'm very happy with the quality of Harley Benton as a brand and maybe they could make one in 38mm too? Best regards

You can now order a EBMM Stingray with the SLO neck option again - directly from the factory. It's expensive though. I agree with you though - I much prefer a jazz type neck.

Hi Gregor, I bought this Harley Benton MB-5 SB Deluxe Series in june 2020 and when i first customized it i had a G&L L1000 ptb (passive bass and treble roll of) wiring in it. Later i build a replica from a 70's Music Man Stingray preamp and installed it in my MB-5 and stil is, last mod i did was a copy of a Music Man Stingray bridge, with the two posts, looks great! Here's a video of my MB-5 fitted with the 70's Music Man Stingray preamp replica🥰 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqq8o6OJetKmb9E

I’m getting tired of all of these clones. I understand that clones aim to put iconic instruments within the reach of more musicians but, create your own instruments the same with pedals
