Super Healthy Chocolate Banana Smoothie!

Follow me on Instagram! / melissamaker . Learn how to make one of these amazing (and healthy) chocolate banana smoothies! As usual, Chad will be taste testing to eliminate my bias.
Ingredients:
1 peeled, frozen banana
1 cup of almond milk (or, use any kind of dairy or non-dairy 'creamy' beverage i.e. soy milk, rice milk or coconut milk)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon maple syrup
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
and I added in (for good health)
1 tablespoon ground flax
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon hemp seeds
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
3 vitamin D Drops
You can add some ice cubes if you want it thicker and frothier, or use a little less than a cup of milk for a thicker drink, your call.
Blend for a minute or two, and enjoy! It reminds me a little of a Wendy's Frosty or a Starbucks Frappucino. Either way, it's amazing and I think you are going to love it!

You can also use 2-3 dates for sweetness instead of maple syrup. :)

I always soak my chia seeds in water before i drop them in the blender 😁

This is my favorite smoothie, i make it everyday. You could also try peanut butter in it to make it more creamy and more protein. Also, if the bananas are on the little bit more ripe side, you could try and skip the sweetner :)

LOVE Chocolate and Banana smoothies for breakfast.. I use Carnation Instant Breakfast w/ milk (choc. flavor).. or Choc. Slim-Fast Powder or liquid.

Thank you so much for this recipe! This is the first chocolate smoothie recipe I found that actually almost tastes like a chocolate milkshake. It is a lifesaver!!! I love it so much :)

Melissa! I love all your videos and am enjoying the smoothie ones too. Thank you to you, and your husband for all the time and energy you put into them. One suggestion: Get some glass straws! (Assuming you don't have any yet.) Glass straws are awesome for so many reasons.

Melissa Maker I can't promise you'll have some sort of a magical drinking experience with a glass straw, but if you use straws with nearly every smoothie (like I do), from an environmental perspective, glass straws are a good choice. They are thick and strong and last forever. I buy mine via glassstraws dot com. (Check out the bent ones. I love those.) Or, here in Canada, you can get straight ones at upayanaturals.dot com.

I make this smoothie too, but add a good tablespoon of peanut butter-yummy! Gives a boost of protein at the same time! :)

I made this morning, but added powdered peanut butter and a packet of stevia instead of the maple syrup...I will let you know how it is :)

Thanks for showing me this recipe! I also added 2 Tablespoons of peanut butter. I also recommend adding ice if you wanted it to be colder. I dident but it turned out great! Thanks!

5/5 This is good, just made it and very yum! Go ahead and try it if you are considering it :) I even added chia seeds, hemp hearts and flaxseed and it didn't taste bad as I feared! (not that there's anything wrong with those ingredients, I'm just biased :) )

Hello Melissa! I wanted to ask u sth about vit D drops, as i myself am vit D deficient(extremely) , do u use drops that are meant for babies, because i can't find drops for adults here. If so r they better then taking pills? thankyou!

I make the same smoothie except i sweeten with stevia and add a scoop of whey protein. Super yum!

I love home made smoothies but don't make them very often because I love ones with berries and they aren't cheap. I should try this one because I buy bananas a lot and I use cocoa too. This is also a good recipe if you like chocolate bananas, which I do.

No, I eat a gluten-free, dairy free and ideally sugar-free diet, but I eat all kinds of meat!

Do you use ground chia/hemp seeds when you put into blender, or do you just use the whole seeds and let the Blendtec blender grind them? I generally use ground flax seeds before I add to the mixture, but I'm not sure about chia/hemp seeds. I've been tossing them in whole and my blender doesn't do a great job and the texture of the final smoothie has bits of whole seeds which makes it a little gritty. Not sure if a better blender will take care of that or not. But I ordered my Blendtec and should be here in a week since my blender is on its last leg!

I've never been a breakfast eater because food doesn't sound good in the morning to me. HOWEVER, I discovered the wonderful world of breakfast smoothies using: 1 cup no-fat milk, 2 bananas, 1/2 scoop of protein powder, 1 tsp. choc. malt Ovaltine. Yum! Delicious & nutritional.

more like a milkshake issn it? in my view a chocolate banana smoothie is bananas and cacao or chocolate whatever but nothing but that. i just use 13 bananas and three four big spoones cacao and a little bit water
