Not sure if you knew this but jewel weed (can have small yellow or purple flowers) almost always grows near poison ivy and it has a juicy stem that acts as a salve for poison ivy. Hope it's cleared up by now 🙏

I love that haunting feeling I get when I look down through the foggy abyss, kind of like when I'm swimming in deep dark water.

Given how this series started, I was expecting for a different kind of high and a different kind of mushroom to be featured 😂 Keep an eye out for hen of the woods/maitake once it gets closer to falltime, they grow around the base of oak trees. It was the first mushroom I learned how to forage because it's easy to identify with no toxic lookalikes. I'm sure you're already familiar though! Keep crushing it, your hikes are always so impressive!

I am really loving this $1000 thru hike season. I’ve been following you for close to 2 years now. First in 2022 during my planning stages for thru hiking the AT in 23 and your CYTC hike and others. I thru hiked in 23 and thanks to all your info we completed it in Dec 23. All of your info has been so helpful but this one is great for all the tips on doing it low budget, much of what I encountered last year. I am now working in hostels along the trail and maybe will run into you to share my thanks in person. I’m leaving Angels Rest before you get here but maybe will see you in VT or ME. My trail name is Reset btw Thanks so much for all you do and helping hikers figure this out. 😊

Nothing like the sound of my hometown Gatlinburg!! Thanks for bringing me along your hike. I watch and listen to them while at work. I’m maintenance manager at Panolam and working in maintenance reminds me of being in the Army!! It’s always a hurry up and wait game!! You know what I’m talking you being a grunt yourself!

Look for the Chaga Mushroom on a Birch tree! Looks like a burnt piece and is orange on the inside. Just a tiny bit, add to hot water like you would tea…or add to coffee. Very good for you!

The Jump-off was out of this world! Reminded me of being in the Bigelows in dense fog, looking behind on the ascent and seeing oblivion. Cheering you on from Maine, Jack!

Wow, this is a really great AT video of the Smokies, one of the best ones I've ever seen, and I've been watching AT vlogs for a few years now.

Love the foraging. Be on the lookout for ramps, fiddleheads and berries. But only if you know what you’re doing! If you aren’t sure something is safe to eat, give it to the annoying white dude you’re hiking with and see if he gets sick.

First thank you for your service to our country. Could you do a video on your food? What you eat in a day and what you eat in a week. Just a caution I got sick at Standing Bear last year.

Is your tent a Lanshan 1 ? I see two lines coming down from the front peak. One should come down with the jam cleat at the top. A loop is tied at the stake and a short line with a jam cleat goes to the front vestibule and has that 2 prong clip. Other configurations will work too.
