In his own cartoon show, Aquaman can throw balls of hard water (like snowballs) at enemies. He can also create an underwater whirlpool/tornado by spinning like a top. Why does he not do any of those things in his fight against the Hydroids, and later against Batman and Robin?

By July 1979, Skylab disintegrated while re-entering earths atmosphere. I found it interesting that this particular cartoon referenced Skylab and then a couple years later it came up in the news again. The way that it was explained to us as children was that the space station ran out of gas and would eventually reenter the Earth’s orbit. There was concern about pieces surviving the reentry. 26:17

Free's "Alright Now" would actually make a great comeback, in Superman & Lois, the rare GOOD DC show, in the past few years. This season of Super Friends kond of reminds me of The Brave and Bold, the comic series that teamed a few heroes, for adventurers off the beaten path. It was pretty fun. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I miss when the heroes of the DCU, despite their varying backgrounds and methods, got along and could work together, without minutes and minutes of bickering, like today.

Man that Hitchhiker's short was.. strangely kinda creepy in retrospect, knowing how many of North America's serial killers used that method to trap victims in the 60s-70s all the way up really till the 90s. I always thought it was stupid to hitch hike but after learning that stuff my view on it is always damaged

I did a fair bit of hitching toward the end of the 60's, but usually it was my nephew and me hitching together so we had a fair idea nobody would try to mess with two good size guys. I only saw women hitching one time. I know they got where they were going safely because my nephews and I picked them up. I have a feeling they never knew how lucky they were.

I look back on it now and realize I was very stupid, and very lucky that nothing bad happened. I should have just kept walking. The Wonder Twins episodes are unique, in which every voice is done by two people: Every male voice was by Michael Bell. Every female voice was by Louise ("Liberty") Williams.

The Space Shuttle was a big deal, and preliminary designs were pretty well known. In the comics, Hawkman was an alien cop (in the 70s) who had the wing harness, and an antigravity belt that also lets him fly shirtless in deep space. He also didn't need a helmet either. As his deal was smacking bad guys with historic weapons, he wasn't ideal for the non-violent cartoons of the 70s. Oh, and Hawkman could talk to birds. Basically air Aquaman with a mace. Þhe 40s version had a magic wing belt setup, and was a reborn pharaoh who hit N4zis really hard with said ancient weapons, and started as a museum curator, where he learned his past AND made use of the swords, spears and hammers on display at the museum.

Well, in his own cartoon, the narrator called him "the king of the 7 seas", so I guess that it is his territory. If there was trouble in the desert, then you could understandably tell Aquaman to "sit this one out."

Ah yes, the time worn "falling into the Sun" plot device. Never mind the fact that it would require canceling out nearly all of Earth's orbital velocity of 30 km/sec to put something on that trajectory. It may seem counterintuitive, but it is easier to toss something completely free of the Solar system than to drop it into the Sun from Earth orbit.

I'm really enjoying this retrospective. Batman and Robin are lucky Aquaman sent barracuda after them. Shark noses and electric senses would have clocked that they weren't made of tasty meat and sniffed them out. (Sorry, I have a shark based superhero and the Incredible senses of sharks made him stand out from being merely strong and swimming. Well, that and the fins.) Brainiac will show up in the Legion of Doom. I don't think that Hannah Barberra had the rights to existing villains, hence leaning on aliens and mad scientists.

At least Hawkgirl would get more popular in the Bruce Timm Justice League animated series, even getting the hero turned villain turned hero story we got. Also, Pinky and the Brain did crossover with Batman and Superman, with the Batman one with the voice of Adam West.

Are the people of Earth worth conquering? If you're asking the question, the answer is going to be "No". Generally, people are a pain in the ass. You do get some conquerors who want to expand their territory and create empires (mostly to feed their own egos if you ask me). But most of the time I think it's because you want their stuff. Gold. Farmland. A warm water port. Irving was saying everything I was thinking about that last segment. Going towards deep space? You have decades to retrieve the shuttle. Skylab going straight for the sun? Months to figure out a plan. The meteors were just there for drama. The Hawks added nothing. It could have been Batman and Robin in the Bat Plane. It's not that I mind seeing guest heroes. Just make their skill set useful for the episode. Plastic Man got a rat out of a computer. The Flash wrapped wire around the Earth. Hawkman attached an air hose.

In an upcoming episode, the Atom is similarly underused. It seems to be a pattern, the fourth cartoon features a guest hero but they don't get to do much of anything.

I might be setting off the overthink alarm here but while I understand that most of the stories in this series are environmental I'm failing to understand how the hydronoids can predict the future and also whether any marine life planets agreed with their plan plus their machine may have wiped the minds but they were more the general public not the scientists or builders of space rockets.
