Really_Tall speaking of glitches,I found that, with the balloon mario, if you get shocked , you can frame perfect jump right when the shocking animation ends.

1ted59 In THI you can just eat the koopa and take that wherever, no need for this ledge thing. Sadly it's not faster to do that for any stars, though two stars can still be cancelled just because they're close to pipes so the stage is cool. In SSL fly guys can be used (new Any% TAS currently being worked on does this and it looks amazing), so probably no use? Might be faster than a fly guy for the red coin star thinking about it, if that works even, but idk if that would save time over no star cancel at all. SSL is still undecided on exactly how the cancels will be done in 150. In SL there's an issue: the igloo is weird compared to other loading zones. Not just the igloo, but for any loading zones that do a zoom such as the cave in THI, doing a star cancel normally won't work. You have to eat a 100 coin star while going through the lz to be able to move during the transition, then eat the star near the end of that. I have a vid of star cancelling in SL showing this off. Additionally you could just use one of the many spindrifts or the fly guy to do a cancel instead of the shell :P In JRB should be possible to do a cancel, as there's a way to walk underwater immediately after dismounting the shell (I have a Through the Jet Stream BCCless vid showing this). On PAL/1.1 you could use a goomba to carry the star, spit it towards where the shell is, then eat it again and do the cancel. I guess this glitch might make it possible to do a cancel in JRB on 1.0? I hadn't actually considered that before, thanks :P Would probably be possible with the red coin star. So yeah maybe some small uses in SSL or JRB, but the main reason it's useful for LLL is there's nothing else that can be used for a star cancel, even on PAL/1.1, as it's just bullies. This response is much longer than your questions but I had fun writing it!
