What I love about the last one is the phrase "we have to do something special for you" really makes you think it's something related to Mario and Peach themselves since that is what Peach tells Mario at the end of the game, but then it's revealed to be misleading where Mario has nothing to do with it and it was just the last phrase the father says before getting to his child. The only thing Mario related to the story is that the kid has a Mario 64 poster in his room

I would recommend he either practice a lot more with this unfortunate control style before recording, or only play Mario roms with a proper controller (they are not expensive). The reason this kind of matters here is because half of the video is just watching him struggle with exaggerated, self-caused difficulty. The horror should come from scary game design... not from every single long-jump causing 15 deaths due to user error. That many unnecessary deaths is not only distracting but it reduces the horror of the game to the background. Is this part REALLY hard because the designer wanted it that way? Or is it just incompetent gameplay? These questions are clouded by videos like this. Just my two cents.

@@ghostshipmurmurs7917 I mean I agree, but at the same time cut him some slack, he has a controller and genuinely did try his best to find an emulator that would accept both the rom and his controller but could only find one that played the rom and it didn't like his controller. Also I kind of like the deviation from the norm here in terms of focusing on his playthrough rather than simply discussing it at length and limiting his input to wacky aftereffects.

This wasn't marketed as a funny, watch-me-fail-at-this-game type of video (there are channels specifically for that). It's marketed as a horror video focusing on the lore and creepiness of horror mods. It's hard to pay attention to that when I'm watching someone miss a pretty simple timed jump a dozen or more times. If there is truly no way around the controller problem ..which I honestly doubt... He could play a 2D game instead until such time that a proper controller solution is found. Or, even easier, he could cut out many of his failed attempts. Maybe show him falling to his death once or twice and then move on? Or option 3, put something in the title letting viewers know that this video is more about his failing than about the game. Hell, he could cut out most of his failed attempts and then, next video, post a long blooper real if he wanted, so I would at least know I could skip the outtakes if I wanted. There are a good number of possibilities here. And I wasn't trying to dissect this video in depth. My first comment was two sentences, and I lol'd in it pretty lightheartedly. The only reason I'm going into this level of detail is to respond to you. I'm not upset about the video. But yeah I also didn't love the video at the same time for the reasons I've stated. Obviously you liked it. Okay great, we agree to disagree. I may go watch another creator though if I know this is what I can expect with the Mario videos on this channel.

I think the first and second hacks tie for the best ones. Mostly because there is a degree of challenge for them but the second one shown is probably the hardest especially the boss chase sequence. Gear certainly is bad at the game. Glad to see he doesn’t give up though. He should consider doing the dives after a jump for added distance and learning some other techniques. Also play regular mario 64 warm up in a much friendlier environment. You may find yourself absorbing skills better that way.
