Jonsso Gaming You just brought up an interesting idea. Canon-Bowser is basically a big bully, and has occasionally sided with his fellow Star Children against greater threats. But what if he actually *was* a true threat? Being a combination of giant turtle and dragon gives him a great mix of offense and defense. We all know he’s ludicrously tough (see his Death Battle for more details). So what might happen if he actually crossed the line to become Truly Evil? Could even a badass like Mario stand up to him at that point?

Zachary Joy I think Nintendo gets its edginess through with Ganon in Zelda. As a whole, I think Mario is the bigger staple of Nintendo, but considering that Zelda is not far behind, it goes to show that the fan base could really enjoy a fully threatening bowser.

Actually this is pretty close to the original. The original still have this exact mood but held back by the limitations of N64 sound and midi capabilities. He didn't make the music any more menacing than it was, he only made it more epic.

The huge room Mario entered was empty, or so it seemed. The darkness around him felt like a blanket of fog, impossible to navigate or even to see through. Igniting a fireball in his hand, Mario turned around, holding it out in front of him like a torch but the oppressive darkness only allowed a small circle of light to shine around the plumber. A cold chill filled the room, sending chills crawling up his spine. Taking a few tentative steps forward, Mario attempted to get his bearings, all the while thoughts of Peach and Luigi raced through his mind. He hadn't seen his brother since they were ambushed back at the throne room and the last he'd seen of the princess was when that damned Koopa's brat of a son, Bowser Jr, taunted him just after he and Luigi had been separated. He'd taken care of that fairly easily, but Peach was nowhere to be found. "You destroyed my army," a deep growling voice reverberated through the room. Whirling around, Mario saw two large red eyes glaring at him. Instinctively, he hurled his fireball at them but it was swallowed by the darkness and the eyes vanished. He ignited another just as the voice spoke again. "You defeated my most trusted servants," The eyes were to his left; again, he threw the fireball with the same result. A cold chill filled the room, causing the hair on Mario's neck to stand up. "And now, you kill my son!" The voice shouted the last words and the eyes appeared directly in front of the plumber. Startled, Mario stumbled back only to see the eyes behind him, to his right, the left. He was completely surrounded. "You will pay for that, plumber," Bowser's voice declared, "No more tricks, no more games!" The eyes surrounding Mario began to move, swirling around the terrified plumber before finally coming together at a point not far in front of him. A burst of red light flashed, causing Mario to shield his eyes for a moment, and illuminated a huge, dark shape. That shape began to rise on two giant legs, a massive tail swishing out behind it and two huge arms stretched out to the side. A large, horned head rose from the top of the shape and before Mario had a chance to react, the gigantic Giga Bowser sent him flying backward with one swipe. Dazed, Mario stumbled to his feet as the Koopa king stepped forward, the red light revealing him fully, and let out a earth shattering roar of pure fury. Despite the fear, Mario managed a smirk. "That's a good-a trick, Bowser," he told the gargantuan turtle, "But this is a-why I brought-a my little friend." Reaching into his back pocket, Mario pulled a small, glowing item; a Starman. Energy pulsed from the little being as Mario looked up at his towering foe with renewed confidence. Giga Bowser's eyes narrowed and he huffed in derision, smoke billowing from his nostrils. His voice lowered to a chilling snarl. "And you're going to need him."

This was definitely the most badass and actually moving orchestrations of this song I’ve ever heard. Like, thinking about an orchestra performing this brought a tear to my eye.
