That's what I've always hated about Mario, lack of creativity and uniqueness... Either Nintendo should make a new Platforming IP or just change up Mario in some way to make it very... unique for once.
@Restless_Gambler77710 жыл бұрын
Nintendo has been innovating and changing Mario. You cant tell me that Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy are the exact same game. Yeah plot and story wise they're carbon copies but gameplay wise!? Gameplay wise those games are unique and offer their own unique gaming experiences.
@1stpltpkmnTR10 жыл бұрын
Ricardo Antonio Well, more or less they are mostly the same gameplay wise, just with a few added gimmicks. Sunshine having you remove paint with water was creative... but that was mostly it. Galaxy having gravity physics was different, but was more or less just a pool of ways to expand the gameplay with the added idea of gravity. 64, for it's time was amazing and holds up well, but the only uniqueness that game holds mostly is being 3D. Mario is more of a build with added controls based around it, but more or less you're doing the same thing at times rather than being something very different and greatly unique. Granted, those are probably the most unique Mario games, but when you look at a lot of others... yeah...
@DropkickNation10 жыл бұрын
You hate Mario for lack of creativity? Thats the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
@1stpltpkmnTR10 жыл бұрын
Chris Purolover Well, yeah... I mean, re-hashing the same shite again and again with minor upgrades and often times downgrades is the pinnacle of creativity. (sarcasm) Sorry, but by this point if you think Mario is creative, you're living in a bubble.
@DropkickNation10 жыл бұрын
***** Maybe...or maybe you're just one of many persons that liked to jump on the "Mario is non creative" train, after (fairly enough) Nintendo released a handful of still pretty good Mario platformers that were lacking as far as new gameplay mechanics were concerned. They games were still good, so whats the problem? I don't need a new groundbreaking idea every time I purchase a new game, you can still have fun with old ideas getting new follow ups. It just pisses me off how many people seem to have forgotten that, considering that Mario games pretty much set the standards for the last 30 years.

@aegis02710 жыл бұрын
Hate to but in, but you're missing the broader picture. For years, Mario has been desperately trying to escape the fact that the core gameplay has been relatively unchanged since the original in terms of core concept, and has been desperately trying to find enough innovation to keep itself alive. And to this point, it's worked because they did enough innovation to keep the IP fresh and fun. See Super Mario 64/Sunshine etc. But then they did Galaxy and apparently thought there was enough innovation to tide us over for 2 games, not realizing that's not how innovation works apparently. Because it is almost literally Super Mario Galaxy again. Same design, same feel, same theme, different levels. As he points out, this is not a bold new game breaking new ground, it's at best an overpriced expansion pack and at worse a moneygrab.

A point he made in one of his other videos is that Nintendo has opted to ignore several years of gameplay innovation. We've gone through the same song and dance of Mario saving the Princess time and time again. Regardless of whether or not the story of a mario game matters as much as its gameplay, it doesn't distract from the fact that it gets old. It renders the previous games moot, or vice versa. It's kind of like a stark contrast to the Sonic universe when you think about it.

@BattlefieldJoe97 he simple fact is that a single world in any recent Mario game has more ideas and interesting gameplay mechanics in it than most full platform games have to offer. The levels in the New Super Mario Bros games and Super Mario 3D Land are designed to introduce a new, different gameplay mechanic in every single stage. Some levels introduce a new mechanic and then it's never seen again - ideas are thrown at you left, right and centre as you play.
