Super Mario Maker - [TUTORIAL] MIDAIR JUMPS - POW / Spring / P-Switch

Check out this AWESOME new MID-AIR tech in Super Mario Maker!
Learn how to do a POW jump, P-Switch jump, and Spring jump in midair!
This is one of the coolest (kinda kaizo) tricks I've seen in a while!
Huge shout-out to whoever found this trick and a shout-out to Foxen45 for making the level I stumbled upon.
Crazy mid-air tech is great for the following:
- Getting to hard-to-reach areas
- Looking like a boss
- Feeling like a boss
- Being a boss
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Run from right to left while grabbing the item
2) Run on the blue skull platform long enough that you get the momentum boost
3) Jump off the blue skull platform while holding run
4) Throw the item when you are inside the arrows
5) Press jump again when you land on the item in mid-air
Be sure to play my level and practice your mid-air POW, P-Switch, and Spring jumps! You'll be a pro in no time.

All this can be done without setup, no conveyors or skull coasters, but this is a cool showcase of Pow-jumps combined with momentum

This type of mid-air jump on items can only be done with this setup, but you can do the standard spring jump, p-switch jump, or POW jump facing either direction. This looks cooler though :P

Wow! Did it really take 793 attempts to do the mid air p-switch jump? That's insane! Especially if pros e.g Panga, ryukar, carlsagan42 and you have to do that multiple times a level! Great work and persistence!

Thanks Lisa! Haha not sure how many attempts it took me, but it was close to 15 minutes of attempts. It felt like 793! And yeah be sure to check some of my levels out! The one in this video is pretty much just a gimmick that you'll rarely ever see in a level. The standard spring jump and p-switch jump would be used much more often in levels!

This particular trick is for going right to left and throwing! The left to right way is a different trick and only works for springs and P-Switches

It’s so weird. I’m the other way around, I can do shell jumps, P-switch jumps, and spring jumps just fine, but I can’t seem the get the POW drop very constantly. The POW drops right through me...

Hey typfoon, check out my insane story :) I watched this video after I ordered super mario maker, to see whats going on in that game. I was like: "Man this shit looks tough" and I was so bored that I tried a spring jump in new super mario bros on my 3ds and then I saw that I cant put the spring under mario in midair. When I got the game, I went through all the tutorial shit and got to this one level in 10 mario challenge where you have a p-switch and some space, so i tried the jump and GOD DAMN FIRST TRIED! Rly but I am not able to do this again😂 thx for reading😉

these are fairly standard kaizo tricks

I wouldn't say standard. It's a super specific setup and I don't normally see this type of jump in kaizo levels!

Yeah, the P-Switch and Pow jumps usually have to be up against a wall if you're facing right so it's cool to be able to do a proper mid-air running to to the left. Spring jumps work well going left or right.

I explain the inputs since it's not a complicated trick. You just need to run, jump, and throw an item! Most of my other tutorials are more complicated which is why I show the inputs on those

What about the timing, inputs aren’t just being pressed aren’t some being held down for a certain amount of time?, if u hold a direction doesn’t it change where the item goes? So do u throw it back or down when in the air? Do u let off of run or hold it through the whole truck? The reason I ask is cuz I can get the trick but very rarely so I’m trying to get more consistent at it and I feel like every time I do it Im doing something different. It seems simple for you now since you probably have been able to do it for a while and have the muscle memory now but maybe try and remember when you were first learning.

It should just be one of the items that you unlock when you've unlocked all the items. You can get more items and building pieces by making levels in the editor!
