Shockwave I don´t think you know how steam works. Steam is a platform were valve does very little when it comes to publishing games. the developers has alot of influence when it comes to that. what valve does is moderate those games but so none go against their guidelines, which are very lenient. valve then takes a cut of the sales from those games. Obviously VN´s sell pretty good and have a large fanbase which in turn lead to valve getting more money. most of valve´s work on steam is there to build a bigger user base(more customers) and making it easier to find games that you like(more sales) or making you buy more games(sales and trading cards)

Hoping for something and getting the opposite is just a bummer, irony would be if a game named "Super Cool Fun Times Game!" was designed to be really fun and advertised as being really fun, but then it turned out that the majority of people who played it found it incredibly boring. Irony is when what actually happens is the opposite of what was expected, not when you simply want one thing but get another. It's why nothing in the Alanis Morissette song "Ironic" is actually ironic, which, ironically, makes the song itself an example of irony. 😁

I actually retracted a little bit when I saw Actual Sunlight come up... They're not joking about it not being something to play as a depressive. I wouldn't call it a game so much as a entrant into the new sub-genre of 'empathy simulators' where you play the game to experience something you otherwise wouldn't/don't understand. Actual Sunlight is very good at showing what depression feels like to people who haven't experienced manic depression. For that, it's worth admission. I can absolutely see why they skipped over it in the video being it so damn heavy and all, but I do hope it gets a revisit sometime in a podcast or something. I think the guys would have some pretty interesting insights or experiences dealing with depression.. (I must apologise for the buzzkill vibe, just wanted to share that tidbit. Side note, Civ City: Rome is also pretty great!)
