I was genuinely happy like you Roger seeing this remake I played Super Mario RPG for the first time on virtual console and I remember beating it and it’s charm. Even though Zelda TotK will be first on my playlist for a very long time, I definitely want to revisit this gem later this year. Woohoo!

it's a full-on remake, yoko shimomura is returning to do the music, there are cutscenes and possibly voice acting, both Nintendo and square-enix are working on this remake

As a gamer I love this game and the SNES version. The snes version however rocked in my VR when I did the desktop to VR on an app. Let me just tell you this. If you ever try it the graphics pops out a bit from the old snes in VR.

You thought that Square Enix was going to hold off on Super Mario RPG because they need it for a low turnover year? The one thing we didn't account for here is that Square Enix wants a piece of the Mario Movie pie. That film is the most successful Nintendo advertisement ever, and it should cover a few years worth of Mario games for the new generation.

Super Mario RPG won June. That’s all I’m saying. Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if this somehow ends up nominated for Game of the Year against Zelda and FF16. Now I’m wondering heavily on what they added to the remake, because Nintendo and Square Enix always have something more when it comes to remakes. I’m hoping for secret characters for roster (Luigi, Daisy, and Bowser Jr), secret final fantasy-themed bosses with soundtrack from the franchise (hoping for Gilgamesh with Battle of Big Bridge), or an epilogue story

The movie has nothing to do with the actual game development. I highly doubt Nintendo will want to pay a licensing fee percentage out to Square when they have plenty of in house characters that they could use without costing extra.
