Okay, there's something that's been bugging me for quite a while now, and I can't find anything about it on the internet. In Noki Bay, isn't it possible to reach the shell secret area, and thus complete Episode 6, as soon as your first visit to the level? I know the wires that lead up to the shell are only present in Episode 6, but the Rocket Nozzle can be found in the level, and is available in Episodes 1, 2, 6 and 7. So theoretically, you should be able to reach the entrance to the secret area at the top of the shell in Episode 1 with the Rocket Nozzle and complete it to obtain the sixth Shine. Doing so would allow you to have access to Episode 7 immediately afterwards, thus skipping the first 5 Shines of the level, which would be a huge time save. Has anyone thought about this before? Or is there something that I'm not aware of that prevents you from reaching the top of the shell before Episode 6?

I had noticed that secret areas in the other levels generally had something blocking their entrances until you were supposed to be able to enter them, such as a grid, or the weird orange juice that only Yoshi can remove, but there doesn't seem to be something similar in front of the secret area entrance in Noki Bay. That's why I thought it could be accessed before the "correct" Episode, but you're telling me that's not the case. Well, too bad, but that was worth a try. Thanks for your quick reply, anyway :-)

Congrats man! You finally did it! It is 6 second difference but getting sub 1:15 must mean a lot to you. By the way, if there is no timer at all, can you still tell if you are progressing faster than the previous run? Like "it's around three seconds faster now" or "omg I just lost 0.5 sec there".

If I have a timer with no splits I know what pace I'm on (splits are mostly for viewers). With no timer at all I'd eventually lose track.
