After watching dozens of your runs, I can safely conclude that this is your best Super Metroid run in any category ever. It's such a shame this video is Unlisted - anyone who loves Super Metroid should have easy access to this amazing run. I know I'm committing the cardinal sin here, but I'm going to go ahead and predict this record will never be broken - unless some new exploits are discovered or better strategies are invented. There's just nothing to improve here. Practically the only way to squeeze out a few seconds is to get better drops. WARNING, SPOILERS! - amazing movement throughout the run, only 2 - 3 missed wall jumps that lose only a few seconds - no missed Moon Falls - fast / mid Phantoon - excellent Ridley fight, only slight improvements could be made - flawless snake kill - very good Draygon fight, patterns could have been slightly better - phenomenal Tourian - one of the best Mother Brain 1 I've ever seen and great MB3 as well - fast escape, with only 1 missed wall jump * Congratulations Zoast for the nearly perfect run! *

The drops at 20:43 were a real downer... lost like 14 seconds there. Then again, the drops after botwoon were some of the best I've ever seen. Ridley fight itself was great. There is a jump coming out of Maridia that saves 5 seconds, but it's very scary on pace, and I lost a number of good runs trying it, although I don't think any of them were as good as this one. Draygon can potentially be 10 seconds or so faster but it's pretty rare to get that fight. I think the clutch Tourian went a long way to making this run as strong as it is. I think it will be beaten eventually, but it is indeed one that I'm very proud of. Thanks for the nice comments.

I just discovered something really cool last night that I never knew was possible. If you wall jump off of the skulls with red eyes in crateria (at the bottom of the elevator before morph ball and in the multiple other rooms after that) they will bounce and shake back and forth! I thought that was so cool. Maybe I’m late to that but I really don’t care

That clutch in Maridia though. Also I propose a challenge to you if it is possible, since you really are the god at this game. Complete the game with no energy tank pickups (reserves allowed), mb does 300 dmg with that beam if you have gravi+varia, it should be possible, but very hard to do so. =3

I don't think you can do motherbrain with all reserve tanks. The reserve would trigger and only fill 100 and you'd die because you basically can only take 200 for a single attack. I don't think you can pause in the middle of rainbow and fill bits of energy at a time there. Either way, the rest of the game wouldn't be too bad for me with gravity and 3 reserve. There might be a number of places I'd pause the game to fill ~80 energy but otherwise should be totally fine.

Wow, helluva run, Zoasty! I don't think I had actually seen this one of yours before now. It made me think of something amusing, kind of an idea for a new cat. If you're still reading and replying to these, what do you think of a category where you get Charge, Ice, all 50 PBs and anything else you want, do everything else like normal and then kill MB2 with nothing but 50 perfect Ice shields? (Ice shield %? :D) That should add up to exactly her 18K health, yes? I guess you could try it on Ridley too, but he might be a little harder.

Hol up. How do you skip the opening cutscene? Also what is the varia suit needed for? Defence to tank the brain blast?

The game makes an auto-save when you land in ceres station. You copy that save, so it's on 2 slots. When you start a new run, you use one of those saves to overwrite for the new run. Varia alone reduces damage for mother brains rainbow beam, otherwise you'd need 3 more energy tanks.

Wouldn't the Speed Booster and Wave Beam speed things up? One quick detour to get both next to each other. Some boss battles were so long because you do very little damage, and you waste time jumping up slowly with the Gravity Suit off.

It's low% and the idea is to get as few items as possible. It's a sort of challenge run. There are other harder ways to get 14% though, but of course they are slower. This is the fastest low% without major glitches. The glitch runs aren't as focused on in this game's speedruns.

I know this is ancient but, during your run, running back through red tower, the platform you bomb out at 14:33, why not moon fall there? i know the distance isnt exactly far but wouldnt it save 1 second or so?

varia is inconsequential once you have gravity, except for mother brains rainbow attack. some randos changed this to make varia more useful.

Yes, before that big unavoidable beam. Mother Brain always shoots at least one, and it takes exactly 300 health.

Yeah, technically baby skip is possible, apparently, but it's very hard and doesn't save hardly any time. If you went for it and got grabbed you would be losing a lot of time by failing it. One thing to note is that you are forced to go to the refill station room to refill missiles regardless, so you have enough for mother brains glass form (MB1).

With any% you can pick up whatever items you want to beat the game quickest at your own skill level. In low% you HAVE to get only 14%. This is 14% and any% (WR route) is 19%. The extra 5 items add a lot of power and speed to the run. Wave and speed make boss fights quicker (and easier casually). The extra missile pack is for not having to backtrack to the tourian missile recharge. Speedbooster and highjump are worth getting for the movement speed. P.S. These are No Major Glitch categories. The major glitch categories are not as mainstream or widely ran, and the percentages would be lower in those.
