I was getting really annoyed at people calling her “fatphobic” for saying she was disfigured by the procedure. I was practically yelling for people to look up what this reaction ACTUALLY looks like. It is not just weight gain, it looks like hard BRICKS of fat cells protruding out of your body. She was never saying that being fat is “disfiguring”!!! This reaction is not normal fat gain. It is hard, sometimes painful, disfiguring masses. If you wanna call her fatphobic for getting a weight loss procedure in the first place, that’s your opinion, but she did not call fat people disfigured.

Omg yes. I'm an esthetician & it's SO IMPORTANT to do all the research into the manufacturers of all the different machines & lasers. There is an entire underground world of off-label or "used" machines & lasers - along with just corrupt manufacturers in general. I've heard & seen horror stories of people being burned and scarred. You REALLY have to learn about the machines & the different technologies & then learn about the clinic and see if they have a relationship with the manufacturers - big ones like Candela or Aerolase often have social media presences - try to find clinic training photos with the lasers. I mean anything down to the new hydrodermabrasion/hydrafacial world. These machines are expensive and produce revenue and wherever there is money, there is often shady practices. Idc if it's fat removal, tattoo removal, hair removal, or even a lash tint - make sure your beauty professionals are using quality products from manufacturers that you know have reputable machines. It may be a bit more costly, as a consumer and practitioner. But many practitioners will see duplicate options on Amazon that claim to do these big treatments Cavatation Machines, Microneedling devices, hydro or microdermabrasion - some of them actually look like the professional versions for thousands less than quality ones. Minus all the legalities, testing and training 🙄. It's a wild world. It's too lucrative - stay safe everyone and invest in your skin! The largest organ in your body!

Ok but I got a bunch of cool sculpting done and it worked wonders. Before you get the procedure done they tell you that the area you get cool sculpted may have an adverse effect where it actually causes you to gain weight in the area but that’s in like a very small number of patients. At least for me they didn’t hide it, they made it very clear it’s a possibility. I did a lot of research into cool sculpting before I got it and I thought it was worth the risk for me personally because the risk of having the dangerous side effects was very small. It’s super unfortunate that happened to Linda but there are thousands of people that it didn’t happen to and they had a positive experience. There’s two sides to everything, only focusing on the negative doesn’t give you the entire picture. (Plus it’s A LOT safer and has WAYYY less potential complications than fat loss surgery. So that should be taken into account as well.)

I was a nurse in a cosmetic surgeon's office and I have to tell you: if you're dead set on a fat loss procedure, please just go with liposuction. cool sculpting is a waste of money. you need so many sessions, and they are so expensive and the results are minimal. many people also end up with dips in their skin where they got it that don't heal properly. by the time you pay for 6 sessions that are barely doing anything except making weird dips here and there, you could have gotten liposuction and had money left over. moreover, liposuction is safer in general as long as you go to a board certified plastic surgeon with a good reputation (not an 80 year old dr who refuses to retire).

I’ve actually gotten cool sculpting done quite a few times and I was made VERY aware of all the potential side effects. Just as a side note, if the procedure is done properly by a trained medical professional most of those side effects are almost guaranteed not to happen. The frostbite one especially, they have a lot of medical research studies done on the procedure and frostbite shouldn’t be a complication if done properly. The reason I went through with it is because statistically the risk of getting the side effects was extremely low. I ended up not having any issues. I totally agree that people should be aware of the side effects but they should also know that they’re not guaranteed to get any of them. Another reason it was worth it to me is because surgery fat loss complications are much higher.

I was getting a nose job and decided to have that area liposuctioned and I gotta say, it was the best decision and I’d do it over and over if I had to. Healing was only a bit ouchie for a week but after that it just felt sensitive like a bruise. It has never come back and I have no scarring. It’s not super noticeable but I am very insecure about it, and have been looking around trying to see what I can do about it, but everywhere has been trying to sell me courses of things that may not even do the job right, and they say that after the courses I’ll need to get even more surgery/treatments to fix the side effects (which apparently includes sagging skin on your face, which is exactly the opposite of what I want!). Do you think that lipo would work even for a small fat pocket? It’s not nonexistent, it’s just not always super noticeable (only from certain angles). I was always thin, but I’m not anymore because of a medication that I have to take for another issue that has completely messed up my metabolism, and that’s when this fat pocket appeared.

I came literally within a WEEK of getting it done when I found out I'd be moving back to my home state very within a week after it, so I wouldn't be able to do follow up appointments. I ended up cancelling and getting the money I'd put down as my deposit back. I heard about Linda's story after I had cancelled my appointment, and I felt so grateful that life interfered. I still want a procedure to get rid of my double chin, but I actually started working on my self-confidence and self-esteem, which has helped immensely.

If you're considering any procedure in the future, I highly recommend skipping non-invasive options, and instead just doing liposuction of the chin, and a morpheus 8 round after it heels(this tightens the skin). I spent 5k on kybella for 2 years, and was quoted that Id need an additional SIX thousand dollars worth to achieve what I wanted. I decided against more treatment, and went right to lipo (5k) and wish I'd have just done lipo from the start. (I'm IN LOVE with my results).
@scarletsletter4466 Жыл бұрын
Giving a 2nd opinion here since the prior commenter is pro-lipo: please consider waiting on invasive surgery and starting with Kybella to see if it works for you. This is especially good for young patients and those who are in good health with good skin elasticity. Many patients have incredible results from kybella if their “double chin” is from fat rather than sagging skin due to loss of collagen via aging, sun damage, weight change, etc. If you’re experiencing sagging & “jowls” of course you may need more invasive surgery including lipo

The money in question not even covering the current medical bills, when at least 4 surgeries were foreseen for my future. Only thing that kept me hanging on were the horror stories I had heard of people taking a settlement and actually winding up in debt, because they were desperate for the money. Admittedly, someone paying for Cool Sculpt probably isn't hurting for cash, but it was still blackmail level to give her an ultimatum right before surgery. IDK if I'm making sense - the legal system and people crushed by it simply because they did not have a secure income or cash to waste just really infuriates me.

This story really hits me…I didn’t have cool sculpting done, but developed a rare disease that creates fatty painful tumours that grows everywhere, and they regrow even if you try cutting or sucking them out. I feel like I don’t recognise myself in the mirror, and it’s life changing - not just because you feel disfigured but it’s one of the most painful diseases known to mankind - I wished I had loved myself before this happened to me - now I look back when I thought I was never good enough, but now I am truly lost and suffering bedridden and in constant pain! Please be okay with whatever God gave you - perfection doesn’t exist - I’m not saying don’t take care of yourself and your body if that’s what you want - for health or whatever reasons it’s okay to want to be better, but…be careful with the obsession of small things that we all are going to experience as we age, have children, ect… The small imperfections are what make us - us! We’re human beings not statues or paintings 🖼 on a wall - we all have things that bother us, but things can always be worse! When worse comes it’s a punch in the gut, it’s so hard to imagine that you ever worried about the bra fat, or chin fat or fupa fat - it’s hard to accept our flaws but it’s almost impossible to accept the worst things happening to you that are beyond your control… I imagine she regrets that day, but it’s probably taught her so much that she wished she didn’t have to learn the hard way. To accept yourself, to be kind to yourself, and to recognise that we are all ageing and it should be a wonderful time - I however understand how she may feel now as I feel the same shame, and self hatred, I hope people - especially if you are younger - learn now to love your body and be understanding of what everyone of us will go through as we age and perhaps have children ect… Social media tells us to be perfect, but no one among us is perfect and never ever will be able to keep up with ever changing standards of beauty and appearances. Love you now because you never know what the future holds - don’t hold out waiting for those few extra pounds to lose and then I will go to the beach - go now! Enjoy your life, life is so precious and you never know what is going to happen to you in the future…I wish I had done things then and now I live bedridden in pain all the time and never go outside - I’m too embarrassed to upload, and I just wish I had of done it before… ❤️🩹 Be kind to yourself and others - vanity is in everyone’s life but, don’t let it rule you, you’re already perfect the way you are - I wish you well and happiness, and lots of healing ❤️🩹 and self love ❤️ and acceptance! 🌷🥰🙏🏼 You are more than your appearance, and size, you are unique and there’s only one ☝️ of you on the planet 🌏🥹💐🖼🥰👍😍🫵🪞

I know you mean well but "please be okay with whatever god gave you" isn't a helpful statement. It's not a choice to love your body or hate it. No one wants to hate their body and feel a need to get procedures to fix it, and it's not something you can just... Decide to be okay with. It's especially insensitive towards people with real psychological conditions who really can't help it, like those with eating disorders such as anorexia or bullimia that focus on appearance, body dysmorphic disorder, social anxiety that may cause a heightened awareness of "imperfections," and gender dysphoria (the only one of which actually *does* require cosmetic work done to alleviate and can't be helped with psychological treatment.) Maybe this is nitpicky. I'm not necessarily mad at you since I know you mea well. Just little details like that can be annoying when the reality of these situations is often much deeper than just choosing to be okay with it

Cool sculpting was all over our local commercials for years. I asked what it was and decided that for what they were saying, it was a waste of money for the cost. The results aren’t like liposuction, but it was advertised as as such and seemed false. I have had conventional plastic surgery and it’s expensive and so I try to avoid fads like this that claim the same with non invasive results. Fillers can get freaky over time. Buyer beware.

I wanted to look like Linda as a kid when I see her in George Michael’s “Freedom” video. I still want to look like her-she’s stunning. I feel so badly for what happened to her. That’s what is scary about weight loss procedures and even the new medication trend of Ozempic-you don’t know what the long term side effects will be. Before you have any procedure/medication treatment; make sure you wait until they learn what side effects will be! I’m glad Linda won her case! Great video as always, James!

I had a few cool sculpting sessions done late last year. Luckily I didn’t have any negative side effects, but the results were so minimal that I don’t think it was worth the money. I have always been physically active, but I just need to get more motivated to stop my late night snacking.

Imo if you find a healthy snack you would be able to solve the problem without even changing your habits. Like, I'm a "night owl" freelancer so I always stay up until 3-4 AM working and it's inevitable that I get a bit hungry at a certain point. So my nutritionist suggested to simply snack on some almonds or dried fruit, so that I'd satisfy my hunger without introducing sugary energetic nutrients this late at night. It worked very well for me, I especially like almonds(with the skin) because they somehow satiate me immediately, around 7 of them are enough, when in the past I used to eat half a bag of cookies before being satisfied lol

I have had injuries to both of my shoulders, and have to very carefully do targeted exercise to work my shoulders, biceps, and triceps because I have inherited my dad's side of the family getting them. What infuriated me about the bullying she got was, it wasn't just ordinary adipose tissue, it literally was growing out of control, hardening, causing physical pain(I have heard the pain is the equivalent of the pregnant overnight stretch mark pain, of which I'm extremely familiar with, plus it causes stretch marks from the skin being pulled taut, and scarring from stretch marks have their own fun issues), and if not treated properly, can be a recurring issue.

CoolSculpting is marketed quite aggressively as a safer, less painful, still-effective alternative to lipo or other surgical body-sculpting procedures. I was honestly considering putting money aside for it until recently. I'm fairly althletic, but i have some extra fat on my upper arms in addition to having muscle there and that is kind of a problem in terms of getting the protective jackets worn for HEMA (think fencing, but a bigger sword) to fit properly without restricting arm movements or having to pay extra for custom tailoring. Being able to spot-reduce that area would improve my comfort and performance, but hearing about cases like this does give me pause.

I had CoolSculpting done on my lower abdomen sometime last year. For me, it was pointless because there was no noticeable difference between the before and after. They said I’d need multiple sessions to achieve the desired results, but when I considered the financial side of things, I realized it would be better to just go to the gym instead of spending more money. Another thing I’d like to point out is that the clinics offering the treatment always claim there are no side effects. When you ask about known side effects, they assure you that they’re unlikely to happen, which I find very misleading. They make it seem like such a routine and harmless procedure that nothing could go wrong.

I just want to chime in as a previous model in my 20s. Now I'm almost 40 😢 but models are not just "eating right and exercising". We tended to do very extreme fasts. If you watch any media from the 90s you'll see pop stars eating three strawberries for the day and running on fumes. That's the only way to get the level of slender required for modeling. We were not just being healthy. Often we didn't even eat enough calories to fuel exercise and most of our eating habits would be considered disordered these days. I'm a 136 pounds now but I was 98 when I modeled and consumed like 0 calories sometimes just water fasting for the day. It is not healthy and don't deluded yourself into believing we were all just doing diet and exercise. Those that couldn't adhere to strict fasting would get procedures or use ephedrine which was semi legal at the time. The world has gotten much healthier these days around weight but with the uprise of AI I see stick skinny coming back into fashion and it makes me quite sad. It is not possible or sustainable on diet and exercise alone at all. It never will be. They are tricking you. Recently I did some work for one of the largest nutritionists in the country. She was slim NOT because she followed her nutrition plan but because she was on a starvation diet, drinking nothing but watery powder drinks all day every day. I never once saw her consume more than 200 calories in a day and we worked together for months often spending the day together. And you can probably figure it out since I did some spokesperson work with her. It's all a sham. Embrace curvy beauty. Stop with the diet and exercise lie. If it was that easy everyone would be in shape.

Idk if these exercises have actual names but they work pretty well (for me). I'm not able to do things like oblique v-ups bc of my back, so I just started moving to see what I could do to engage the muscles in my sides, back, and abdomen without hurting myself.

Our culture is tragically fat phobic. As a ripple effect, some are losing their life and many becoming injured over our quest for the “perfect” body.

Hi James, I watched and re-watched this video deciding whether to comment or not .. so here goes! I have had several coolsculpting procedures .. all amazingly successful .. I lost 4 stone over 3years (slowly and steady). I was working out 5 times a week, 2hrs a day - back-to-back classes, swimming, abs classes .. you name it, I did it ... and did it intensely (enjoyed every minute and still do!!) .. but there were pockets of fat that I could not shift no matter what, so I had coolsculpting done on the small pockets of fat on my inner thighs 1st, followed (a year later) by my underarms and then another yr later on my stomach (where I had surgery) and 'bra' straps .... all of this took place over 3yrs (it is very expensive) and I have NEVER looked back. I could never ever have achieved this with diet and excercise. I still have a flat stomach and no pouches despite putting on 8lbs. I have been on the positive end of the procedure and I feel so so much more confident (BTW I am the same age as Linda Evangleista) .. I suppose all I would say is do get this procedure done on your chin/face until you have had it done somewhere else and it has worked out ok .. my therapists were excellent, extremely educated and I took their advise completely. I started with my inner thighs and I took a yr to see how it worked before deciding the next area to target. If people are interested in this procedure, get it done first on an area where you wouldn't be devastated if it didn't work. Honestly it will take at least 3-4 months before you will see a difference, despite what anyone will tell you. I am so so happy with my results. I just thought I would post this as you asked for people who have had this done to comment. Everyone has their own reasons for doing this .. hopefully without being judged. I am nervous about the reaction I will get here, but I am happy and have no regrets.

I wasted so much money on several rounds of coolsculpting. I’m having separate health issues causing major weight gain and difficulty losing it, even with a large caloric deficit, exercise, and clean eating. I weigh more than I did after having a baby, and my stomach is bigger than when I was in my last trimester.

I got this done last year on my lower belly, and I was happy with the results

Hi, James!!! I went under this procedure four years ago. I followed every direction I was given to have a successful result, but I achieved nothing. A total waste of money in my experience 😭😭😭 But at least I didn’t suffer from any side effect 🙄

I think its really important that you did this video. I see an unbelievable amount of advertisement, here on KZbin, for CoolSculpting, aimed at women for everything from having a natural slight droop of fat in the neck, to upper thighs, to the midriff. Pretty young women and older fit women sit and sing its praises in the ads. So few people actually realize that this stuff, for all intents and purposes, literally DISFIGURED a globally known, historically significant supermodel who counted lauded beauties like Naomi Campbell, Shalom Harlow and Christy Turlington as her peers. It's unbelievable that most people DON'T KNOW that hydrolysis is not nearly the miracle it advertises itself to be.

What is interesting about adipose tissue is that with diet and exercise the existing fat cells do not go away. They just go through a process of expansion with weight gain or shrinkage with weight loss. So I can see the appeal behind this ability to make the cells undergo lysis. Btw I also have an under chin bag and wanted to try Kybella but as a hygienist I had to learn about head and neck anatomy and the truth is that bag is not just caused by fat. It's a combination of tissues that make up the functional structures of the lower part of the oral cavity and the neck. So unfortunately for people like us who are in our proper weight range Kybella is not an optimal solution. Also, remember people that as consumers we are responsible for what we purchase whether it be services or goods. We are responsible for doing the proper research. Which is unfortunate as well because we all have our weaknesses and disadvantages so not everyone is always capable of making responsible decisions. I do think the med spa services are usually exploitative of this and of the emotional influence that goes behind people making decisions to alter their bodies. It's a bit manipulative to minimize the possible side effects knowing that when someone has an insecurity and is coming to a consult they pretty much have already made up their mind and will not likely be dissuaded to move forward with the procedure. It's psycholgical persuasion exploiting insecurities. And insecurities is a need that people will usually focus on resolving physically over psychologically no matter the cost and sometimes even over more realistic needs such as food, shelter, and transportation.

Ahhh that would make sense for my chin!! Yeah exactly that. I always tell people this a bout getting Botox and filler. There’s possible negative side effects with all procedures so doing our research on the procedure and the injectors themselves is so important!

So you're saying that my double chin pocket flab might not go away with kybella? I have it, my gran, my mum, aunts and cousins do too and some of them are very skinny, I'm maybe 1kg overweight? - it doesn't go away, it just gets more saggy with age. It's genetic in my case and I really hate it. Always have. I hate it a bit less the older I get though. I was really thinking about getting Kybella (probably for the past 5 years), but you might have saved me money and disappointment. I don't want actual surgery for it. I looked into that in my early 20s, but it's not for me. Time to try to learn to accept it, I suppose.

17:25 it is so difficult looking on the mirror and not recognizing yourself. I just finished chemotherapy and I’m going through it now. I have developed social anxiety and everything too
@BeautyOfTheBlood Жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry to hear that my dear. Just don't let the social anxiety go too far, if you haven't already, seek help from a psychologist. It's maybe hard at first, but usually feels easier once you start. And remember "almost everyone is concerned about what people will think of one's appearance in various situations in life. But most other people usually don't think at all about what you worry about, about yourself, they are unfortunately busy worrying about themselves." I wish you all the best and hope you recover as soon as possible.. Sending hugs & much love to you. ❤

It's not fat phobic when a procedure goes wrong and permanently alters your body
