Today I have a super neat technique for sleeveless styles that will work for woven and knits. You can also use these 2 methods for facings and also to line a top or a dress.
2 super fun ways to sew all in one facing / linings. An all-in-one facing is a super clean, simple finish for a sleeveless style with a neat and smooth finish.
The first demonstration features the Sentosa tank from Itch to Stitch. It's available in sizes 00-40US and has a regular & full bust option. It's 20% off through the 5th of May. This is my affiliate link: itch-to-stitch.com/product/se...

Who would have thought that my sewing teacher lives in Brazil 🇧🇷! Going to try both facing methods with my Cadence projects. Also trying your Allegro skirt hacks. I’m ending up with a cute summer capsule using fabric remnants leftover from the other projects. Enjoy the creative / technical process. Karina, you are such a good soul. Thanks for creating this wonderful place, away from all the chaos.

Hi Karina I watch you all the time you are so so super super thorough on everything I love learning all the things that you show us maybe sometime you could do a video on how you go about choosing your fabric when you do a fabric that has a border print and you you're able to set that up I'm not clear on how you how you go about using a border print and putting it into a top or a dress but it would be interesting to watch you decide on how to go about doing one of those on a border print fabric thank you for all you do and it just thinks

For knits it’s important to have at least one of the layers stabilised like you saw here. Armholes and neckline. This will prevent the armholes and neckline from stretching out.

What you call, "all in one", I heard called, " Burrito Method". I think I heard you say, this can be done with any garmen that is sleveles. I can't comprehend how this can be done without a specific instruction in the pattern. I'm a new sewer.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 2 жыл бұрын
“Burrito method” is a generic term that is not specific to this technique. If you are new to sewing, I’d recommend following instructions in patterns until you are comfortable with some techniques. Then you can start incorporating things that are not in some instructions.

Concerning staystitching, if you clip the seams along a curve to release the tension, you have to clip to the seam so you would clip thru the staystitching. Does this clipping render the staystitching useless?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 2 жыл бұрын
They have nothing to do with each other actually. You stay stitch to keep the neckline safe from stretching out while its a raw edge. Once the facing is on, the stay stitching serves zero purpose because the facing is already sewn on. So when you snip to relieve the tension, there’s no issue.

Beautiful finish. Two questions - what are the dimensions to make a facing as you have sewn, usually they are small that you receive in the pattern envelope. Second question - the back opening example - if you were to be inserting a zipper but wanted the facing to be clean finished as I see this in ready to wear, how would you sew it?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kim. This video was about the technique and not about drafting the facing. The dimensions are impossible to share because of the different sizes. I know I like the facings that have a curve above the bust. What you want to know about inserting a zipper would actually be a whole video and there’s no way I can explain that in a comment here. I am planning to make a video on that.

@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 2 жыл бұрын
If you pretend the seam is on the front instead of the back, it would be the same. If there was a seam on the Center front and back then it would also work. You’d do half of the top and then the other half joining them in the centres at the end.
