Excellent as always Gavin. Saw this video over a year ago & just used it now. Created an action so only have to do once! I don't know how you come up with this stuff. Amazing.

I would have added a layer mask and soft brushed away some of the top image around the sides to have it blend well with the grunge border. but this is a very awesome technique! Thank you!

Gavin, can you do a video on creating a "Frame" than can be saved as an action and applied to any photo. The purpose would be to create a personal style to apply to all of one photos for publishing. I would like to take my choice photos and then after editing and apply effects, I would like to run an action to apply the same frame with my name to all of my photos so that my work would carry the consistent frame regardless of photo orientation or size. Thanks for all of your great videos. Ron

Another good method is to select a slightly smaller rectangle on a white layer and fill with black. It is underneath the hidden image you seek to grunge. Go to filter gallery, the spatter filter. Transform and move the four underlying grunge edges to bleed out just beyond the image layer image positioned at the very top. The third very bottom white layer with over-sized canvas dimension, the grunge layer and the image layer will be cropped down to correct size. The white bottom layer will constitute the outer white border of the final stamped image. It appears to be a difficult procedure but in time it’s a quick and easy three layer process to master.

Defiantly like. I have one question. What's the purpose of adding a border style? Pictures printed are usually framed with a border aren't they? How do you these pictures with border styles you create in photoshop.

Interesting technique, I would've used "grunge-brushes" to get a simlilar effect, but this is way better. Thanks for sharing :)

I don't get the point of adding the fibre layer and the cloud layer. How did these two help here? The grunge was created by the last layer as a frame whereas the top layer remained virtually untouched except for the border. What role did the middle two layers play?

I'm kinda stuck at 1:30, the option to change the canvas color is grayed out in canvas size popup window. Any idea what would cause this or how I could trouble shoot it to figure out what has cause the option to not be available? Thanks Great video by-the-way.

I'm having the same problem. Using CS6 Photoshop, I just get a little bit of grunge outside and then as I increase the range on the gaussin blur it spatters some of the photo color. Trying to add more grunge with the brush doesn't work at all. I've tried twice with 2 different images. What am I doing wrong?

@bhatiaanant why dont you follow along, then hide each layer that you think does nothing. you will soon see exactly what they do, it will be easier than trying to explain it.

No grunge at all. When I increase the blur nothing happens. The Filter>Render>Fibers only have a greater opacity and nothing else happens. Nothing.
