As a Fijian, before the Drua entered Super Rugby in 2022, the Crusaders have always been the team I supported growing up. However, Im ngl, I think this losing streak they're on as well as the success of the Australian teams early this season is exactly what I think Super Rugby needed. Things have been the same for far too long & its good to see some tough competetive games with both the Aus & NZ teams as well as Drua & Moana 🔥👏🏾

The All Blacks created that tradition in the sixties scoring either side of the break , as did the Lions in the seventies. Albeit Auckland Ranfurly shield sides in the fifties and sixties also pushed hardest before and after the break often with a set move by Mac Herewini/Ralf Caulton.

After him, they're the only team in the competition not to have won a match. I don't know nearly enough about rugby to point out what makes him a great coach. But the correlation seems quite strong.

A similar classic, let's say Toulouse-Leinster , would fill any european 50k+ venues in hours ... actually this very blues-crusaders game would probably attract a bigger crowd in europe than it did this weekend in NZ ... sure the crusaders sucks this year and i guess fans are not that much enthusiastic about seeing their team being trashed by their rival ... but it was the same in Wellington for the hurricanes-blues game which was great and an even contest... you just have to look back to early 2000's games between the same teams, stadiums were packed ... this is sad and frightening to witness, It seems also reading comments that nz fans are a bit in denial regarding the situation, this is just what happened in Australia ... lack of public interest leads to lack of investment and in the end this is hurting the wallabies and australian rugby in a vicious circle ... it goes fast and can happen in NZ, no one wants that no one needs that. Rugby is not in good health right now : australia, wales even england club rugby, the state of super rugby ... rugby's core nations is too small a group for us to see the top end crumble when we're also unable to really bring "fringe nations" at the top.

Can any Kiwis explain why the crowds are so sparse? I’ve heard several explanations. Some say COVID really discouraged people from going to big venues. Some say ticket prices are too high. Mainly it's because that is a 50,000 seat stadium. NZ isnt big enough population wise to have the 15 - 20,000 seat stadiums that europe has, which would be full. We just have our big ones and do everything in them

Is it just me or was this game just 80% woeful? Yeah the conditions weren´t great but it was just a string of bad decisions/communication. Blues camped out in the 22 and barely scored, only when they had a 2 man advantage. On the 50 min mark, a certain try to the left. These teams have to improve considerably to be championship material. Crusaders suck.

They are missing key stalwarts who got injured, Barrett, Jordan, Moody, Welsh international Halfpenny. With no Whitelock they've literally lost their 2 best experienced locks from last season. With Mounga not there also, that is quite a line up. I think even Razor would have had a problem.
