Although for SOME moments, the Buu saga has instances of even better animation (for example the scene where all the Z-fighters arrive at Babidi's ship and make their landing and power down and drop their aura's. The way it's shot, like them coming in right AT the camera is just really cool). But overall, yes, the Cell Saga is the best one.

It was UNBELIEVABLE how powerful Gohan became here at Super Saiyan 2. Cell couldn’t touch him. He couldn’t even phase him. And with just two punches, he brought the monster that made sport of Vegeta and Piccolo and outlasted the mighty Goku down to his knees. Gohan was the definition of ASCENDED Saiyan.

# 001 Gohan's potential is pretty much OP. The boy went from slightly on par with Piccolo after the 3 year training to pretty much so strong that it practically took the entirety of 7 years after the Cell Saga for Goku and Vegeta to catch up to him. And Gohan got this strong from less than a year of intense training in the Time Chamber.

It's more than that. This essentially isn't the same Cell that beat up Vegeta, Trunks and Goku. All that time, Cell was in his base form. The version that Gohan punched just how is Cell as a SSJ (his Saiyan Cells allow him to do that; it's just not as obvious because he doesn't have hair, but he does have the gold glow). The version of Cell Gohan's fighting right now could have one-shotted Goku.

He seemed to be having fun while fighting goku, knowing how much stronger he actually is. Against gohan he was frustrated, knowing his full power wouldn’t be enough. Also the zenkai boost from fighting goku really doesn’t make that much of a difference, cell beats goku no argument.

Dameon Clarke, the voice actor for Cell, mentioned he loves voicing Perfect Cell a lot better. When it came to voicing Imperfect Cell, he recalled how much of a pain it was because he had to give him a raspy voice. By the time he voice Semi-Perfect Cell, he toned the raspy voice down a little. When he finally got to do Perfect Cell, it gave him more free range on what he could do with that voice.

@@fatty1040 DBZ has always been meant for 4:3, it's just most that most anime websites only provide us with the 16:9 version because DBZ has only been "remastered" (still very bad quality for a remaster) for widescreen and they use those video files... until 3y ago when Funimation released a somewhat acceptable 4:3 remaster which has better quality than any 16:9 version. Either most websites are too lazy to add the 4:3 remaster or they don't bother since it's around 4GB per episode. Anyway, I agree that DB Kai Cell Saga looks amazing and that everything looks zoomed in DBZ 16:9

Goku says a line that I haven't really seen many people take note of. It's that line that confirms that Goku KNEW his son was more powerful than anyone from the moment they walked out of the time chamber. it's when he is talking to Gohan asking if Gohan had any difficulty at all on following the fight. Gohan says that if Goku were fighting at full power then maybe he wouldn't have been able to follow. And Goku says that he was AT full power against Cell and that the only reason Gohan though he wasn't was because he was comparing Goku's energy to his own. ONLY Piccolo immediately understands what Goku is saying. What Goku is saying is that Gohan while not powered up in any way _ while just passively watching - was still more powerful than a fully powered up Goku. And because Goku was not as powerful Gohan naturally assumed that Goku was holding back; because in HIS mind he's not as powerful as his father.

I remembered playing young SS2. Gohan for the first time on the ps2 and boy, I still think he is the best video game DBZ character today. He is small but strong, plus he fight with both his hands and feet at the same time. Gohan's fighting style was very different compared to all the other characters. Chi-chi is the source of Gohan’s , in OG Dragon Ball chi-chi’s power level went from 2 to 130 with just 3 years of training. Goku took 8 years to go from power level of 12 to 260 when he fought Piccolo. Chi-chi’s potential + Goku’s saiyan genetics = Gohan’s potential.

Cell forcing Gohan to release his hidden power for the sport of fighting him. Gohan is now so much stronger then Cell and instantly comes back to bite him. Hmmmm this sounds very familiar lol. I guess Cell also shares Vegetas weakness. Also Gohan bringing Cell to his knees with just 2 punches like we have been seeing every single character struggle against Cell. as much as this is Gohan's moment, I'll still never forget this episode as well as a few in the future of the Cell saga being the ones which REALLY develop Vegeta's character as a whole. [SPOILER WARNING; DO NOT READ THIS SENTENCE] The scene where he rages out over Trunks dying [END SPOILER]. Him swallowing his pride and accepting he has to eat the senzu bean even though he hates it. Realizing that not only is he second to Goku, but also his son now too. Then as you progress into the next story arc (Majin Buu) he gains even MORE serious development, especially with when he becomes Majin Vegeta. As much as various character's get their moments in the DragonBall series (orig, Z, GT, Super etc.) there's is just NO equal to how much of a character Vegeta is, is developed over the series, and becomes as he is now in DragonBall Super which TECHNICALLY speaking, although Goku hit MUI during the ToP, Vegeta reached the true next version of strength with the SSJBlue Evolution during the same story. MUI is a technique, whereas SSBEvo is a whole new level of transformation. Despite Vegeta giving the ever loved speech of saying Goku is better than him, Goku is number one, nothing could be further from the truth when it's truly broken down. Goku has always been the simpleton hero who rises to any challenge/fight/adversary, but Vegeta has gone from a complete narcissistic, prideful, self indulging, and self centered ego maniac to the kind, loving, family devoted, selfless(not 100%, but a million times more selfless than he was which was none) honorable Saiyan warrior. He still has his emotions hidden tightly, but they show way more than they ever would've before in the Z series when he was introduced. He's made a complete 180 in terms of everything about him. His self centeredness turned to selflessness when he knew he wasn't strong enough on his own. His ego and pride turned to honor and stoicness of his Saiyan heritage he once boasted so largely about. Vegeta will always be the true greatest of DragonBall which I find hysterical since we all know it was NEVER intended to be that way at all until way later on. What's even more exciting is the paths that Vegeta and Goku are destined to be on as DragonBall Super continues as a series. Goku eventually becoming(this is my opinion, but it's a little obvious imo with DBSuper) the always slightly ahead and good hearted teacher he's always been as an Angel as Whis is, and thus Vegeta eventually becoming a God of Destruction for Universe 7 being trained by Beerus, learning the Hakai, using Ultra Ego, and so on. The dynamic Saiyan Duo, forever entwined with one another for as long as the forsee-able future goes on. Both of them taking on God-like roles that suit them perfectly. wow, just re-read over this and man I just kinda went off for a minute lmaooo. Seriously though, TL;DR? The thing that gets me most is this is the first time I can recall Vegeta calling Gohan by name. He's always been, "Brat," or "Kakarot's kid." This was the first time where I felt Vegeta actually acknowledged someone other than Goku. Sure, he had a moment with Trunks, but the byplay is completely different.

He learned from Goku. He used a gravity machine after learning Goku used one. And he took Goku's suggestion of using the time chamber. While Goku was training with Piccolo and Gohan for 3 years, Vegeta trained alone and caught up to Goku.

Vegeta goes nonstop, which exhausts his body. Goku himself warned him about that, yet Vegeta did it anyway because it’s the only way he knows how to train. Goku has benefited from wise instructors about how to properly train, as well as how to train in multiple levels, physical and spiritual. Vegeta only knows the physical, and he doesn’t do it the right way. That’s why no matter how much Vegeta progresses, Goku always leaps ahead of him-Vegeta’s own words. If Vegeta knew better, he should have trained WITH Goku, or asked him about his training, but Vegeta’s pride would never allow it. it shows never mess with a nice guy and any more push down they have no where else but to go right thru you. Like how goku said as he figured out gohan's nice attitude potential. But like i said before apparently its a thing where people hold onto their darkness for so long that it increase as well and when a person snaps all that darkness builds up tends to be terrifying for others. But yha i love this moment as it really took everything by a surprise to the fact its all about hand to hand combat to now who can out due with super natural powers. I say this battle changed dragon ball and how they do fights forever now as after the cell saga more awesome fights will be like this. This will always be my best (KID) Gohan moment than after that its the teenager gohan who goes Ultimate form and yes kids that gohan is still in highschool.

Great episode. In addition to the Aura, there's lightning flowing as a Super Saiyan level 2. That should be one of the key differences between both the original Super Saiyan and its level 2 forms. Also, strength doubles from the Original Super Saiyan form.

He also has the best character arc in the entire show in my opinion. To be raised and trained by a tyrant, who only saw him as a disposable means to a way when he was supposed to be a king. He became heartless, cruel and selfish then was consistently humbled by others, making him rethink the entire way of how he views things. From his time on earth, he began to relearn things he thought were unnecessary... Friendship, trust, love... It took him a while, but he never gave up and that makes him one of the best characters in anime in my opinion.

When you said Vegeta is justified with his anger, this was part of the fuel for him allowing himself to become Majin. I think the seeds were planted at the cell games. If you think back here, he was upset that others were surpassing him and i think this was manifesting for 7 years.

One thing people fail to realize is when gohan first lunged at cell and passed him cel looked in two different directions trying to find gohan but when cell did it gohan knew exactly where he went. That was a key moment and no one talks about it.
