I had a Cushman something like this. Changing a rear flat tire required taking almost the whole thing to pieces. Body off, gas line, tail light wire, chain, brake cable, rear axle. wheel off the axle, wheel shells apart, then tire off the shells. This scooter might be like that too. Then I got a Sears Vespa. Four lug nuts and put on the spare tire.

In August 1947 Trip from Los Angeles to Indianapolis, stopped along the way and the two of us went to the top of Pikes Peak 14110 Ft then added 3 more passengers and went up the ramp to the cafe. Did 65 on level ground hour after hour the trunk lid opens for storage about 2 bushels of stuff, got 90 mpg. This was the first motor scooter to make it up the top of Pikes Peak at that year. In Indianapolis behind a stalled Buick at the light, pushed the Buick through the intersection, then on open road pushed a Ford about 5 miles in to town who had run out of gas, that front bumper really worked. It had 6.5 HP with belt driven variable speed pulleys giving a 16:1 ratio. Could jump a 47 Ford for the first 200ft.

Made 1947-49, 320cc, 6hp, the Salsbury model 85. Wrong gas cap, Speedo, mesh cover and missing a few pieces. This is worth way more than 10k. I like how they darkened up the original paint. It was originally orange. Also, the decals are bigger than original but look much better.

6:06 It doesn't make a big difference - maybe 5% or less, but the front tyre is mounted in the wrong tread direction. It is seen a lot on motorcycles but for the evacuation of rainwater it is better to mount it as the rear wheel is on this scooter. If it is mounted like this, the water is pressed into the grooves to middle of the tyre instead of to the outside! It is a kind of psychological mistake to mount the front tyre is opposite tread-direction like this. I don't know where that comes from.
