Also you are paying less for gas per gallon and no DEF fluid. That should even your fuel bill out to about the same. Now factor in cheaper oil changes, no fuel filters and an 8K cheaper price tag. 8k less is about $120 less on your loan. That's two fill ups a month. And if you need repairs done now you won't be shelling out $8.600 like I did 1 month after I bout my 6.0 with 129k miles on it. And these new diesels triple pulse on the injectors instead of single pulse. So they only last 150k now instead of 500k. At 1,000 per injector, no thank you. Cummins and Powerstroke also use Bosch lifter pumps that work great until they fail and when they do, they destroy everything they send metal shavings through. About 15k and my brothers Ram just did it with only 9,000 miles on it.

Rams 6.4 wasn't that much more of an engine than the 5.7 (which isn't available on the 2500 anymore anyway). Modern tech can make a big block V8 much more efficient than the big blocks of old.

To do serious repair work on the 6.7 the cab has to come off of the truck! I’ll stick with the gassers ! I could sleep 😴 soundly with the room in the engine bay! The EPA has ruined what was once a simplistic design of a great motor!
@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the repair labor rates for a 6.7 is insane! I'd hate to be the poor bastard that owns one out of warranty considering how many problems our trucks have. This is why I'm not a fan of v8 diesels. After seeing under the hood of the duramax and powerstroke I never even considered the titan xd just because it was a v8 diesel until I looked under the hood of my friends. It was like looking at a gasser. There is tons of room to work on everything! You could change the belt, alternator, water pump etc without taking anything apart at all. And you can reach behind the intake and easily access the transmission bell housing and bolts. Injectors are right there in your face along with the fuel rails so changing injectors is a simple task that could easily be done without taking anything apart. You can see thru the engine bay to the ground. It really looks like a gas burner under the hood. And since I didnt need a 3/4 ton I pulled the trigger and have been happy so far. No it doesnt have the power of these newer 3/4 tons but I dont need that much, and let's be honest they wont hold up doing work non stop with that kind of power, that's why the F550, F650 and F750 have 330hp as their most powerful emversion of the 6.7. These trucks are in a numbers war like the muscle cars used to be. Honestly it's as easy to access as this 7.3 but cleaner/neater engine bay. If I did need a 3/4 ton and I was going to own it past the factory warranty I'd definitely go for the F250 with the 7.3 just because it wouldn't break your wallet for even basic repairs. The performance on the TFL towing test really impressed me compared to GM and Rams v8.

@@tylersutton1048 I know plenty a out what I'm talking about. I've been working in the oilfield since 2017. Yes if you delete it then it will be much more reliable, but our trucks have had shit tons of issues. I actually do like the powerstroke but I'd hate to be the poor bastard that doesnt have a warranty first time something breaks. Doing an EGR Delete frees up a shit ton of space under the hood to where you can actually work on them though. My coworker has a 16 model and has a bigger turbo, full EGR delete, intake pipes the whole 9 and is easily making over 700hp. But the fact is the reliability has been very inconsistent. We have some that have no issues and 3 at Roger's Ford right now, 2 with less than 20,000 miles for engine issues. Granted they are F550 but those are all derated to 330hp so you'd think that would help reliability. So while you have your experiences I have had mine. So that's that. Glad you have had no issues with yours. Unfortunately I have, and every F250 and F350 I've had has had A/C issues, when idling and the temp gets colder at night then warms up the A/C wont get cold. Sometimes it does after driving for a few minutes, other times it takes longer, and my last 550 when it was regening it would start knocking loud as hell and if you even touch the gas pedal it instantly revs to 4,000 by itself. 2 other coworkers have this problem too. My current one doesnt do the knocking thing but my other one did. So dont tell me I don't know what I'm talking about just because my experience is different from yours. I'm talking real life experiences, not bullshiting.

@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix4 жыл бұрын
@@tylersutton1048 I've had climate control issues with every Suoer duty I've had, and we have almost half of our trucks at Roger's Ford with less than 20,000 miles. I like the trucks but they're not very well made based on our experiences. The F550s are the worst, and even though 550s are derated to 330hp they're still problematic. On thing Ford has gotten right is the emissions. And while it will choke and burn your eyes during a regen, I've never had any issues with the emissions systems messing up. But I've encountered quite a few, including mine, that while performing a regen while idling, will suddenly make this loud knocking sound like a rod is about to come through the block, and if you even tap the throttle by accident it revs to over 4,000rpm and the knocking is flat out scary, then it dies and after a couple of attempts it starts back up as if nothing happened. This was at 14,000 miles So I've learned to watch my feet so I dont bump the throttle. Then my power locks quit working for a couple of weeks only to magically start working again. A/C wont blow cold, the others, if it colder in the morning right before sunrise and you have the temp dial set in the middle or just barely to the warm, and the sun comes up and it gets warmer, when you try to switch to A/C it just blows hot until you drive for a while. The engine in my first 550 mysteriously blew at 14,000 miles. No warning lights, just suddenly lost power. I pulled over and all of the gauges were fine. Started ut back up and it immediately began knocking loud. Turned it off, turned it back on and suddenly the temp gauge was maxed and the oilfield pressure was low, I immediately shut it off. After a few minutes I had to move it so I started it and it had no issues, then after I turned the key off the low pil pressure light came on. Checked it and it had oil. I've had enough issues with them for the last 12 years at my job that I wont buy one. And rams arent any better, their ride is downright punishing, the front suspension isnt worth a crap, it's always needing rebuilt. With the Fords I've never had a suspension issue. The Chevys ride better on the lease roads but is not as open feeling inside. Sucks because I really like the powerstroke but its reliability has been an issue big time.

Colton Dieringer I’m glad you’re not buying one as it could eventually tip you into bankruptcy by the sounds of things. Mines done just fine so far in its 45,000 miles. I’d never go with a gas engine in a super duty. You probably should at least drive one to understand. I bought a 2020 f150 with the 3.5 ecoboost last week for my around town/extensive idle trips. Best of both worlds that way, owing a 250 diesel and a 150 gasser. Had a 19 Toyota 4Runner a year and put 27,000 miles on it but I was tired of its small interior. Nice to have room and a very quick engine while getting 18+ mpg. But my f250 diesel isn’t far behind that average, at 17.2 lifetime average so far. All quite good in my book. You should drive a 19+ 6.7 diesel and a 7.3 or 6.2 gas then and see why the diesel Is so much more impressive-especially while towing 12,000 lbs or a bit more. There’s just no comparison.

And oil changes are a breeze on the 6.7 and cheep being I get my motorcraft oil / filter at Walmart. It's funny how some people want to nickel and dime the 6.7 saying its so expensive to maintain one but it's honestly not bad at all. I pay more for my oil changes in my 2016 mustang gt than i do in my powerstroke and to do a oil change on my mustang is a hell of a lot more work than my 6.7 and is done in the same mileage intervals. Shit doing a oil change or even a spark plug change on my 2000 svt lightning is a hell of a lot more work than anything I have ever done on my 6.7 which is nothing. 6.7 is a great motor if you take care of it and maintain it. But that's the problem with today's society. Mostly everyone is too damn lazy and afraid to do the hard work required to have nice things and rather take the easy way out.
