I just put one of those into place. The sensor was not working prior to putting it into place and seems to work better now *but* the sun's setting might also be mitigating the effect atm. I'll update this tomorrow, once the full blast of sunlight hits it. I think the cutout was the fitment piece that I was missing. We'll see! Thanks, at any rate!

I have a new garage door opener. It's been in about six months, and it started tripping. It would go down about halfway, start flashing and go back up. I would keep pushing the button, and it would finally go down. Now it only goes down about 6 inches and goes back up. I've tried adjusting the sensors to the correct height, is made no difference.

Why not just move the sensor back away from the current location ? Like locate it back inside about a foot or two out of the sunlight.

THat would definitely solve the issue, but this was just intended as a cheap easy hack.

Hey OldPrecious28. You only need to cover the sensor that is getting hit with direct sunlight.

Has anyone noticed that this particular problem tends to get worse over time? I'm asking because I know that this is caused by sunlight, but for me, it only used to be during a certain time of year (angle of the sun) and a certain time of day! NOW I swear it works at night but hardly ever works properly during daylight hours. It's not alignment because I've spent lots of time on that, and once the door is closed (dark inside) the light is solid indicating no problem.! I swear this glare problem is worse this last year than any other time (before the glare reduction tube) am I imagining this? Or do the sensors get more sensitive, for lack of a better term?

You may have some dust or debris on the lens of the sensor that may need to be wiped away as well.

I have the same exact problem. Started during a particular season in the year cuz of the suns location. Was able to get away with manually closing the door, then pressing the button so it reconnects to the handle. Got worse to where my “manual process” stopped working completely. The professional changed out my sensors and said over time, the lenses will oxidize, throwing it off (may explain your issue while it’s dark).

Not working for me red light keeps blinking. I tried in the past and it worked but the tube moved now I can't get it to work again

Did your sensors get misaligned? Also, the glass over the sensors could be dirty.

I deal with this by pulling the cord, lowering it down and then hitting the button. PITA. I'm now taking a poop so that I can get a tp roll!!!
