Hey Max: Ive got one on back order. As you mentioned it is a little hotter signal wise. I noticed your "S's' were real pronounced with the XS, but a good work around for that is to put the mike facing sideway or even down. With an omni field pickup it still does a great job. Im planning to use this in XLR to use on my boom pole, so i can lose the cord.

Unfortunately it is a single channel receiver. You can use 4 systems reliably in a single area and they will work to avoid interference as a group. This is also a digital system so it will sound clearer than any of the super low cost analog systems. For 2 channels you are around 600.00 us which is the cost of a single channel of a pro analog system. The difference you get in a more professional system is a more robust RF link and better sound quality.

I have been looking for a wireless setup for going around to tables during weddings and getting quick interviews with guests. Now there is finally a solution. The plug in xlr for a handheld mic and the little receiver for on the camera will be perfect. Before, you had cheap mics that had a receiver that could be plugged into a camera but they could cut out at any time even a few feet away. ( I tried a few and they were just not good enough, the audio was fine, but if they held it wrong it would cut out) And the quality wireless mics don't have receivers that can be plugged into a camera. Just wish I could get a combo that came with the lav and the xlr transmitter. Sucks to not get that lav for an extra $50 but it probably makes more sense to just get the xlr transmitter and pick up an xlr lav for it.

@tedbahas6 жыл бұрын
AVX and XSW are different a couple of ways. AVX uses the DEC band which is at 1.9 Gig. It is less crowded than 2.4 and is also license free world wide. Because of this you can expect better range on AVX. On the downside DEC band devices have longer latencies. The AVX has a latency of 17ms. This is not a problem for video but for live musical performances using in ear monitoring it is too long. The XSW-D has low latency of about 4 ms. The XSW-D also has a wide ranging gain input that can go from Mic to line levels with virtually no adjustment and a different RF technology. Because 2.4 is a pretty crowded space Sennheiser put in some pretty clever tools to maintain the link even in noisy WI-FI environments. Im pretty amazed they were able to squeeze this into such a small package.

I think the Sennheiser system is great! I may very well add a set to my kit depending on how I feel after the inevitable sleuth of upcoming reviews. The small size is just fantastic for when you need to go overseas and have to cram everything into a backpack camera bag to avoid checking your expensive gear in. I don't see it as a replacement for my RODE system, but certainly a very, very good potential alternative for specific scenarios and for mirrorless cameras it looks like a perfect match. However, I think RODE have got a couple of things right over Sennheiser. One of those is the battery. Batteries that you can buy in any supermarket, convenience store, petrol (gasoline) station is probably better. This will vary from person to person and their needs of course, so your opinion will likely be of varying degrees and even I will likely view it differently according to the particular shoot circumstances. The second thing that RODE have gotten right is how they've named their kits - as silly as that may sound. I have watched quite a few introductory videos on Sennheiser's new product and quickly got confused as to what exactly is available in kit form. Easy enough if you are buying from a bricks and mortar store perhaps, but online it gets tedious sorting through which is which. Of course, I think we'd all agree that the variety in the lineup is excellent. I said a 'couple of things' but one more thing I think could be better improved immediately is the XLR to camera receiver. Sticking out as it does and being plastic means it is potentially easily breakable and prone to accidents. A short XLR cable to allow adjustment would fix this so not a big deal, but it would have been nice to see a hinged/flexible version as in the AVX range. A good product and I sincerely hope the reviews and feedback from actual users continues to excite.
@andrewjones-productions6 жыл бұрын
Finally my confusion has been cleared up and I take back somewhat what I said about the naming of the products. Cinema 5D have listed up the 4 kits available. Sennheiser's own videos introducing the system (not the PVs) was confusing. Please note, this is not a criticism of Max Yurev's video. This is from Cinema 5D's site (link to their article also is included): All parts of the new Sennheiser XSW-D system can either be purchased individualy or as a sets. Sennheiser offers following sets: * XSW-D Portable Lavalier Setincludes the ME 2-II clip-on microphone, transmitter and receiver (both with 3.5 mm [1/8”] mini-jacks), belt clip, cold-shoe mount, coiled cable (3.5 mm [1/8”] mini-jack) and charging cable (USB-A to USB-C). * XSW-D Portable Interview Setincludes a transmitter that plugs onto a dynamic handheld microphone (via XLR-3F connector), a receiver with 3.5 mm (1/8”) mini-jack, belt clip, cold-shoe mount, coiled cable (3.5 mm [1/8”] mini-jack) and charging cable (USB-A to USB-C). * XSW-D Portable ENG Set includes the ME 2-II clip-on microphone, two transmitter types (XLR-3F for dynamic handheld microphones and 3.5 mm [1/8”] mini-jack for clip-on mics), a receiver with 3.5 mm (1/8”) mini-jack, belt clip, cold-shoe mount, coiled cable (3.5 mm [1/8”] mini-jack) and charging cable (USB-A to USB-C). *XSW-D Portable Base Set includes a transmitter and a receiver (both with 3.5 mm [1/8”] mini-jacks), belt clip, cold-shoe mount, coiled cable (3.5 mm [1/8”] mini-jack) and charging cable (USB-A to USB-C). www.cinema5d.com/sennheiser-xs-wireless-digital-simply-wireless-audio-cable/

There is no such thing as better or worse mics per se. Rather, mic difference generally depends on the situation: voice, distance from mic, environment, etc. Your voice is top high which can be grating after a while. The Rode mic attenuates that brilliance and is therefore, the preferred mic in that instance. An opposite sounding bass voice, would work better using the Sennheiser.

So why does this come up as unavailable on my Apple TV?.
@johncampbell3356 жыл бұрын
You may have clicked on a resolution that wasn't finished processing yet eg 1080 when only 360p was available?

Feature-wise, the saramonic UwMic9 still is ahead... Quality wise, I can't tell...

I really don't get the benefit of these so called wireless systems which are literally wired! Somebody please educate me as to what the benefit of these are over my Zoom H1 (serious question)
@RavikeNL6 жыл бұрын
With the Zoom H1 you have to hope the sound is good while filming. With a wireless system you KNOW the sound is good, because you can hear it from behind the camera. And there is no need to sync with a wireless system, because the mic sound is already in sync with the video.

@@RavikeNL thank you. OK I can see the benefits. But at that price for the crap I make, I'll stick with the Zoom

it's nice but I think I will stick with my saramonic. I think they are about half that price

Which set do you have? I’m testing one off theirs right now.
@manilamartin10016 жыл бұрын
@@MaksimYuryev I have the mic9 but I think there is a 10. I use two for weddings and interviews. That was why I originally switched brands after my rhode broke.

I’m consider the AVX but should I get this instead?
@MisterChibs6 жыл бұрын
The new XS has less input lag while being less expensive. Buuuuuuut you have even less controls. The AVX you can adjust gain in 4 steps on the receiver. I wish it had more... I think this new xs relies on the camera setting levels. In my limited experience, it’s better to set camera output to low and let the External audio do the heavy lifting. I guess we’ll see what max concludes when he reviews this thing.
@MisterChibs6 жыл бұрын
Oh yea, don’t bother with AVX imo and wait to see how this new xs does. I think it will be a lot of people’s gateway drug into the Sennheiser’s ecosystem. Their G4 stuff is great once you learn how to use it.

If you are in a lot of run and gun situations where you don't want to bother with the levels the AVX system is still worth considering. Due to its auto-levels functionality it will basically never clip which is a huge plus if you can't look for the levels.
