Honestly, just seeing how happy and goofy and good spirited Sakurai was in that reveal was enough for me. Always love seeing him in a good mood. His genuine joy for Sora made me more excited than the actual reveal and that's a good thing I think!

You know what felt so NICE about this? It wasn't just another character coming in with GUNS BLAZING. RARING to fight. It was just....It was just......sigh. It was Sora coming home and Mario giving him a handshake to welcome him as part of the Smash crew. It was just....INCREDIBLY heartwarming. Sora laughing as he flew (for those who don't know in KHI, he gains the power of flight when in Peter Pan's world), and with just the biggest smile on his face....god it felt RIGHT. Sora would never come in just ready to fight-he's impulsive, yes but with something like this it wouldn't feel in character for him to just be raring to do battle. He'd be more excited about the prospect of a new adventure if anything else. And that feels so magical.

I liked that opening the Keyhole to Kingdom Hearts and letting Sora in cured everyone from being turned into statues. Earlier in the week I'd been saying they should have saved Sephiroth for last since it would be like the final boss showing up... but this felt a lot like the final innocent hope showing up to purify the darkness in the end. Much more peaceful and oddly satisfying.

Gotta be honest, until Mario picked up that fire, i thought it was gonna be a Dark Souls characters... Anyways, there will always be if's and but's with new characters, but for what it's worth, this is a more than worthy inclusion and one a lot of people did really wish for. Would i have prefered someone else? As someone who never really cared for KH (played the first about 80% through, but that's it), yeah, sure, i know quite a few i would have rather seen. But as it is, this is still great and lots of people got what they wanted and are happy with it, that's what counts. And kudos to Sakurai for making it happen. Can't have been easy, what with Disney and all.

Im not that into Smash or any other game, you could say that im a very casual player (i enjoy games once in a while). But Kingdom hearts was one of the few games that i actually got to play as a kid and teenager. It holds a very special place in my heart, even after all these years. Seeing Sora being introduced like that almost made me cry 😭 The way he enters, just floating around, the sparkles, his laugh, it was just so... Sora!! it felt so magical, like i was a little kid again and i was meeting an old friend!! Im genuinely so excited for this 😭♥️ Sora will always be a huge part of my childhood!!

Holy shit, wow! I predicted Sora to be the most likely. I wanted Leon S. Kennedy or Tetrimino more but this is PERFECTION. The reveal was too and end trailer was so good. Best pick as the last character. Some didn’t think it could happen and after Sephiroth it seemed less likely. I’m not even a Kingdom Heart fan and I got chills and almost teary eyed. Sad to have an end to an era of announcements and reactions, but it’s been long and finally Sakurai is done with it. I can’t imagen how amazing it felt for fans. Great Mii costumes and stage too, stage should be legal even with the transformation. Haha crazy to have the silhouette of Mickey in Smash. Sakurai did it, thank you Sakurai-sama! They aren't amiibo, they are trophies. You kept so much of it but cut the end! Why?! It was emotional.

@@dallascimini3619 or Dante as an actual fighter, or idk take the time they took to make byleth and give preexisting characters better costumes, give Cloud and Sephiroth their Kingdom Hearts outfits, as promotion for Metroid Dread give Samus her new suit, etc. Byleth felt like what should’ve been in base game rather than chrom or something. I love fire emblem but 90% of them play the exact same so I just don’t care, only ones I personally play are Corrin cause different and byleth because she has that reach and the edelgard colors.

33:30 Actually, according to some interviews and/or leaks and/or rumors, Cloud was the last holdout to get added into Ultimate's base roster and for a time was actually not going to make it, meaning that the tagline of "Everyone is here" wouldn't have happened. It took some real legwork on Nintendo's end to get Square Enix's approval, and obviously worked well enough after launch that Square Enix allowed Hero (Dragon Quest) in Season 1 and both Sephiroth and Sora in Season 2.

Donald and Goofy not showing up could either be Disney won't allow it / will charge a lot extra for it, or Sakurai didn't want them because of his "Only Video Game Characters Will Show Up for Smash" rule. I think it's a mix of both, it's probably the common ground all the involved parties agreed upon to make this work. And if that's what it took for Sora to get in, I'm all for it. Besides, if any of the traditional Disney characters show up they would probably keep nagging Sakurai on how he should function in the game. From the references I've seen Sora is still very much Sora the same way Cloud functions without his party members helping him.

The reason we have so many fe characters is because it's super popular in Japan and each one is the main character of their respective games. Also might be some marketing stuff since lucina and Robin got announced for the win u/3ds smash and awakening got released on 3ds, corrin was added not to long after fates came out and so on.
