This was really helpful and clear. I really liked that you broke down the multiple ways to do so and that you went over how an opponent will likely respond. A few of my friends are that extra level better than I am at SSBU, and this is definitely a part of the training I'm doing to reach their level. Thanks!! :) {also, your voice is awesome. Reminds me of Byf and VaatiVidya. Looking forward to more of your SBW vids!}

Nice vid, dig your vibe. But I do think 2 framing and ledge trumping were also important things that should have been covered here. Especially 2 framing.
@pichuenjoyer12335 жыл бұрын
Id say ledge trumping has fallen out of meta and is more of a niche tech, its 1 of those things u dont need 2 do but DEFINITELY need 2 know how 2 prevent (for those who dont know, buffering a ledge option such as roll or getup attack will negate the ledge trump) Still its good 2 see somebody who knows their stuff and im not nitpicking, just trying 2 strike up a conversation about the relvence of ledge trumping so pls dont take this the wrong way

I really liked the new video and voice :) Shouldn't there be 5 options to get up on ledge though with the last option being dropping down and jumping up to do an air attack on edge guarder?
@TheSquidProQuo5 жыл бұрын
In high level play there are many more options when it comes to returning to stage via offensive means. Some characters do and don't have the ability to perform such techniques due to limited range to unsafe endlag. I assume they just decided to put the 4 basic options so that we don't have a whole college course on recovery haha.

@smashgambits5 жыл бұрын
Stage spikes are harder to set up? I'd say they're easier. It's just that if your opponent techs, he's home free. Stage spiking is the "easy" option because you don't have to go very far off edge.
@tashi3215 жыл бұрын
you forgot other ledge options such as let go double jump or let go air Dodge. and you didn't cover ledge trumping which can force your opponent off the ledge when they grab it

You have to go slowly, push the stick lightly. The spike area for luigi is incredibly small and is about half a step behind the ledge.

Can someone tell me the difference between a Spike, a Dunk, and a Meteor Smash? I'm not new to Smash Bros but since Ultimate came out I'm looking to play more competitively.
@forgedh24865 жыл бұрын
In Ultimate, I they're all pretty much synonymous. However, in some previous games, the meteor smash was special. I'm most familiar with Melee where you could jump or up+b out of the meteor as soon as hitstun ended (known as meteor cancelling), but for spikes you had to wait until the actual knock back of the move ended before taking any action. This meant that in Melee you should theoretically never die to a meteor move because you can basically always recover our of it (at a high level of course). The distinction between a meteor and a spike is due to slight differences in knock back angles. To my knowledge, meteor cancelling is no longer a thing in the modern smash games, so the terms have kinda lost their distinction. And a dunk is just a different term for the same thing.
@sampletextjpg17095 жыл бұрын
A spike is pretty much a downward attack a meteor is a powerful attack that sends you downward and if you hit someone it sends them downward but it's a bad idea to use it off stage cuz you can't go out of a meteor attack and I have no clue what a dunk is
@itsoracle5 жыл бұрын
ninbrendoswitch same thing tbh
@TaggedByTim5 жыл бұрын
They're all the same now. Back in melee the difference between a spike and a meteor was that you had a chance to recover from a spike but not a meteor.

In ultimate they're all the same
