As others have said, it doesn't matter which pen/pencil you use. Tools do not guarantee your success, nor should they be blamed for your shortcomings. I once knew a professor who could sit down with a three-dollar set of oil pastels and create a masterpiece in an hour. Understand the abilities and limitations of your creative materials and use them to your advantage. Kudos to Mr. Kim for showing that great things can be accomplished with many different instruments.

I mean wow, the story about stealing money to go buy reference books, the fucking dedication to his craft in such a early stage, its not strange that he is so good at what he does to this day, some people say its because of some innate ability. But that accompany with the his friend that he drew different subject matters with every day is what made him so good at what he does to this day. Amazing stream. My favourite thing about Kim was not his incredible skill, but how humble he was about it. His talent is quite unique, i have never seen anyone do anything even remotely close to it, yet you never heard him bragging. In fact he always downplayed it, and even made it sound like it was attainable for "normal people" with enough practice. A legend. RiP.

@idiotidiot5821
@idiotidiot5821 2 жыл бұрын
I think he picks a center space of perspective when he starts and kind of webs out filling the spaces. So his focal point is either the smallest or largest and he can see the rays without actually having to draw them. That may come from an incredible amount of practice with pre sketching etc to where you just see the rays without needing to draw them anymore and pre sketching becomes no longer necessary. Im probably wrong for him specifically but if you wanted to it would probably be a route to try a bit

This dude has learned the very difficult art of drawing from imagination where what you imagine, you can draw. Not a lot of people can do this. There are those savants that once they see something, they can draw what they saw from memory. Truly amazing stuff. According to him, he just practiced drawing without erasures and mistakes and after thousands of drawings, it became his style. He practiced drawing the body a lot of times and studies human anatomy. After which, he can draw a person from his imagination.

I know!! “Doodles?” Listen, I believe a lot of things in life can be learned and mastered with just time, dedicated, sweat, tears, motivation and the willingness to learn. However, there’s also prodigies, or people who do put in work but just “got it.” Naturally “gifted.” Like your classmate who just “gets” the math equations, or who doesn’t need to re read due to photographic memory. Even those who seem to be good at so much, who do not need to put in nearly the same time on things than some others have to (this is no way a bad thing though.) Drawing is a learned talent. However, some people just “got it.” Yes, he put in tremendously hard work, practiced and had massive amounts of dedication for his craft and what he loved. I am in no way invalidating this amazing mans effort, work, what he went through to hone his craft, please don’t take this as if I’m overlooking his passion. However, along with his tremendous hard work, he just “has it” as well. That creative eye, endless imagination and a beautiful complex mind with millions of ideas, inspiration and creativity swimming around waiting to be released via pen, paper, or stylus.

Price doesn't dictate the quality of the pen. Bic pen is a crazy good pen!! It's a reliable and you can achieve a huge amount of FX and/or style. He's drawing with a cheap pen, but not with a shitty pen.

They say before the Big Bang there was nothing but Kim Jung Gi drawing. So the universe created everything he's drawn so far. There was quite a lot. But he said "wait, I'm not done yet!"
