@Farzlepot3 жыл бұрын
I think his logic was that he thought he knew where the creature was, so he was trying to face in that direction at all times so that it couldn't sneak up behind him (hence him going backwards away from where he thought it was). I've not played the game myself, however it looks like there are multiple routes to every room and the creature can get around faster than you, which might've been why his strategy was failing.

Item #: SCP-173 Object Class: Euclid Description: Spooky pop-up man who scares the piss out of you Containment Procedure: Literally never close your eyes
@muzicismyescape135310 жыл бұрын
To those who keep asking about the monster that appeared around 29:42, that was actually SCP-372. They "activated" it by walking into its containment room at 28:04. There is a sheet of paper in the room on top of the file cabinets explaining what it is, but since they didn't really put much effort into it, they missed it completely. SCP-372, once activated, is actually always with you for the rest of the game, literally just walking, jumping, running behind you. 372 is extremely flexible and is capable of moving incredibly fast. It does not pose any physical threat though, its just there to make the player paranoid. Its success in being rarely seen by the person it's following is not only contributed by its astounding physical traits, but vision as well. It can see neural impulses and uses them to predict the movements of the person it is following. It is also capable of echolocation. Despite it lurking behind you for the rest of the game, however, you can still catch a glimpse of him in your peripheral vision (like in 29:42, though that was kind of a bugged glimpse of him) whenever turning around or blinking. Hence its name "Peripheral Jumper".

Slender Man was based off of a Germen Urban Legend called Der Grossmann. A tall "man" with no face and who wears what appears to be a suit. History has changed the story a lot Matt and Pat, but the current day legend is that He was a buisness man who was running late getting home one day so he made a cut through the woods, ended up getting getting jumped, tired to a tree making all his limbs come out of their sockets and left him to die. So his so called spirit haunts those woods, causing anyone who enters them the same pain that he was caused. History was a tall man with no face wearing black who took little kids from their homes at night. Kids assumed it was their imaginary friend telling them they could go to a better place, and be happy and play all day. The children were never found so it is unknown if he killed them or not.
@fsociety698310 жыл бұрын
There's really no evidence that the German legend is true. The only websites that mention it cite each other or nothing at all and there appears to be no trace of it on a single reputable site (ie, not the CreepyPasta wiki). Slenderman has no _real_ basis in history. It's was just some kids who photoshopped a weird human-like being into some pictures and it got popular. There's nothing historical about it. I mean, the suits wasn't even invented until the early 19th century so a German story featuring one is pretty unlikely.

D-Class Personnel are people who were given the choice between *D*eath Row and being a test subject. It's kind of like Creepypasta, I guess. There are actually thousands instead of hundreds. Walking backwards makes absolutely no sense, as there is only one creature which behaves the same way as SCP-173. Slenderman is not technically from Creepypasta, the original Slender game is a play on a mythological creature called the "Tall Man" who stalked children on playgrounds, lured them into the forest where it made its home, and ate them. It doesn't "poo", its body constantly excretes a liquid which _seems_ to be somewhere between blood and faeces. No, it can't teleport. It can move extremely quickly when nobody is directly observing it. Meaning it can't teleport through doors. It can bash them down however, and it can crawl through vents. "That" was another SCP which resembles a large grasshopper, it will follow you around for the rest of the game and is programmed to lurk just outside of your vision cone. In the SCP canon, it drove test subjects and researchers insane, making them believe they were paranoid to the point of suicide. They don't have backup generators because SCP-079 or "the computer", in accordance with another SCP which I don't remember the number of right now, but is essentially one of those giant spider tank things from Half Life, has been systematically sabotaging the facility over a decade so that they could escape. It has multiple endings, actually. You don't understand it, like many people, because it was not made for you. It's made for people who love reading about the SCP Foundation. It's Fanfiction: The Game. It's like reading Harry Potter fanfiction without ever watching the movies or reading the books. It was not made for you. You're not supposed to understand it.

Why are the comments on this video so butthurt? They got scared, panicked, and got lost. Seems like a pretty easy thing to do.
@DeltaD3610 жыл бұрын
SCP in general is a very eh.. Strange thing to get into. As much as I like SCP, and I really like SCP, I also could not find myself thoroughly enjoy this game. Reading through comments, it seems those ridiculing Matt and Pat have seen this played, and played it themselves many times and also have a good amount of knowledge of the SCP Foundation. Matt and Pat have NOT. They have no knowledge of SCP, nor have they seen videos of other people playing this specific game. Given that the state of the game is not entirely stable and is also extremely unclear about the UI or how to get around the SCP Subjects doesn't really help. I do think Pat should have read the files that the game gives you on the subjects, but the files only give you basic info about the creature, and not strictly info on how to combat it. The game itself, while having a unique shtick that works wonderfully for the SCPs advantage, doesn't really have the backbone of a game. The blinking mechanic is there for one thing and one thing only, and that's SCP-173. In fact, it seems the entire game was built around SCP-173 (which I believe it originally was in the very early build) and a function you use for him only, than as more builds came out, they just added more places and more Subjects without deciding to improve on the current mechanics and issue. I am well aware that this is a free project done by guys in their free time, and have nothing but respect for their work and the time they put into it. What I'm getting at is that the acclaim this gets from big name you tubers and SCP fans doesn't really justify bashing on Matt and Pats logic for something that is simply a free-time 2 or 3 person non-profitable project of an excellent Web-Based Creepypasta series. What did you expect?

I expect them to have high enough IQ to learn from their own actions. This time, they didnt give a shit what they did, all they knew, was "SCP 173 bad." one of the guys knew that LOOKING at him, means he was unable to move, the other jackass, didnt listen to him, and kept tapping the blink button randomly when it wasnt needed, and turned around in panic. And he didnt even notice he tapped the blink button! >_> Then for some, retarded fucking reason, he started walking backwards through the entire map, why? What the hell does that help for?! If he had any shred to common sense, he'd realise that any developer designing a game where you have to walk blindly backwards all the time, is a game, that would never be popular enough to reach him as information!!! I don't particularly care how he plays the game, but, how he plays the game, defines his personality, and level of intellect, and his intellect, is lower than his friends, fuck, i know people with 60 IQ who are smarter than this piece of shit. The gameplay wasnt a problem, his inability to learn from his own fucking actions, and complete obliviousness to common sense, thats the problem!

***** But, really now, they're walking backwards because if the A.I. only moves when the camera is not fixed on it then why turn your back on it? Like I get that that's not the way to play but would you really question that move when the game is just a bad Gmod? Monster clipping all over? the usual bad Gmod animations? Weird Save/Load mechanic? Even the pathing and the scripting of the game is ridiculous and about 5 mins. in the game just straight up glitched. They maybe bad at this but let's not act like the game is easy and lighten up.
@SteelBallRun189010 жыл бұрын
***** The monster clipped too much in my version, maybe it was a bad version I don't know. The walking backwards part, what I meant is they were doing that since they were looking at the last known location of the monster which will obviously be behind them and since the monster will follow them it would be safe to keep your eyes fixed at it, unless the monster is programmed to shift all over the place then walking forward or back doesn't really make a difference.

DIO's Scary Monster and THE WORLD I'd say it's a more high tier idea for a game rather than a game with God tier mechanics.

DIO's Scary Monster and THE WORLD The 173 "Monster" can only sometimes open doors and after 1 room its ok to walk forwards normally. Its even needed because it will spawn at other locations and the old one will despawn. It basically cant follow you that far and I think they thought it just teleports from room to room. (And I know that this comment is old)

FaceJP24 I've been playing since first alpha release, so yes that is what the game is like. There are multiple mechanics that try to reduce your vision/increase you blink intervals in order to kill you. Plus you're supposed to look at 173 so going through doors backwards is retarded.

Honestly, I think what really confuses me about this game is the fact that it doesn't seem as if the SCP Foundation has any kind of backup generator system. Hospitals have around 5, I believe, built on top of each other so that if there are multiple failures, there's always another one to kick on. How could something like this not have a system that's even more redundant when they're trying to contain evil dolls that shit everywhere? Yeah yeah, I know, it's just a game.
@Topatobean10 жыл бұрын
Its probably because of the computer SCP they were mentioning in the loading screen. Its a sentient computer and i'm pretty sure it causes all this to happen.

Wow, this was really... disappointing. You'd think they'd at least look up basic info on this game like they do plenty of others and try to read things or something other than what they did here. They barely even tried working out the game mechanics at all! I know they're fairly good at playing games, but this was just atrocious. I want to see them play this again, but actually trying and giving a shit next time around.

***** That's a very childish way to reply to my comment. Would you like to add in any meme related buzz words for added effect? I like these guys, been watching them for a good while now. I just wish they had done their homework on this game like they have done with so many other games they have played in the past. It sucks that the only SCP they met was SCP-173 and that they barely even made a dent in places to go, mostly backtracking over and over. Sometimes going in blind is fine as well, but they barely paid attention to anything in the game.
@LastRaven250610 жыл бұрын
Hazardus Havard we don't watch them for being good at it and knowing how the game is supposed to work. We watch them for going into it, blind as hell and scared shitless.
@HazardusHavard10 жыл бұрын
LastRaven2506 Actually, I believe most people come on to their videos for their personality. Not saying you're wrong, it's a part of it, but it's who they are and how they interact with both their games and one another (with Wooly as a third) that gets people to come back to their videos. In almost all of their videos, they have some form of knowledge to what they're getting themselves into. This one was completely blind and felt like they just wanted to get it over with so people would stop bugging them about doing this game for a Let's Play.

MentalMaladies they added new shit after Tennant, there was one episode with Smith where they made a reappearance and Jorah from Game of Thrones was there, and they broke the soldiers necks, it's rare for them to do that but they needed a voice.

@thr3dawg8 жыл бұрын
I know this is from like two years ago, but seriously, how does no let's player that ever plays this game know a bloody thing about SCPs? It's not really that obscure of an internet phenomenon or community. It wouldn't really be so bad except that every one of them gets real fuckin' upset about how each of the monsters work and they end up screwing everything up and playing worse because of it, usually blaming the game for the issue. Fucking get on the ball and do some research, people. I mean really, Matt and Pat can talk for fuckin' hours about anything that came out before the year 1998. I know that's mostly from their nostalgia and shit but jeez, put in a bit more effort before you just start freaking the fuck out. (Maybe then people won't fill the comments with a bunch of cracks about how you're bad at video games come on guys don't do this to yourselves.)
@Tahanok28 жыл бұрын
+birb It's pretty obscure. I only learned it was a collection of stories yesterday.
@thr3dawg8 жыл бұрын
+Tahanok2 It really isn't that obscure at all, especially in places where the term 'creepypasta' tends to pop up with any amount of substantial frequency, even if just ironically. I see people referencing SCP stuff all over the place, or at the very least this particular game. Of course most people don't actually go read any of the wiki or anything, but that's basically my point. When this game as well as the, like, half-dozen others based off of SCPs first started coming out, and even nowadays, I see people playing them and saying stuff like "I think I've heard of SCPs," and they always seem to know _just enough_ to be aware that they're some sort of collection of creepypastas and yet nobody ever seems to bother looking any of them up. Not even when it's the games that are specifically about _one particular_ SCP. When people started playing Slender, fucking _everybody_ looked up Marble Hornets. Matt and Pat did too; they talk about it in their Shitstorm playthrough of the game. Considering Slenderman is total _hackneyed shit_ compared to the frankly _extraordinary_ depth the SCP Foundation has going for it, it's very frustrating when people give barely any attention to SCPs. I just _severely bothers me_ when something as pretentiously and pointlessly cryptic and cheaply spooky as Slenderman gets so much damn attention, but people don't give a fuck about something that has an entire _world_ of lore behind it. Anyway, my real argument here wasn't and isn't about how obscure SCPs are; it's the fact that people play this game and do dumb shit because they don't do any research (or god forbid just read the _bloody notes_ they find in the _bloody game)_ and then blame it on the source material or on the game or _whatever._ Of course I know the complaint that there's _too much_ stuff involved with the SCP Foundation for many people to get into it, but that's just not a viable argument. The SCPs themselves aren't actually creepypastas; they're all just a collection of items that exist to be used as contextual focuses for writing creepypastas _about._ They all have their own standalone documents, specifically written in a standardized format that gives all the relevant information for them up front. It's literally a core portion of the entire overarching theme to have them all presented like that. If you want information on one you can just search "SCP" on google and the wiki will automatically show up for you to search through any and all of the entries. It's just not that fucking hard and I'm continuously frustrated at seeing people deflect responsibility away from their own faults and laziness when a viable solution is literally a google search away. Of course I suppose that's just a common problem we've got in this day and age, isn't it? But hey, if nobody speaks up about it then how will it ever change?
@thestormtrooperwhocanaim4968 жыл бұрын
+birb Think it's a problem since the dawn of man. Some will think outside the box. Some will research. Some will trial and error. Other's will complain. So kudos to the go-getters of our time. At least we don't have to see a member of our tribe eat a poison mushroom before we know it's poisoness lol

This game seems like a cool idea. Too bad it turned out this lame. Even these two being completely clueless about it doesn't disguise the broken nature of this game. Not that I ever expect anything from an indie game to begin with.
@Topatobean10 жыл бұрын
i KNOW this is a month old but they're playing a broken-ish version of the game. if this is your first look at it then that's bad because Pat and Matt give 0 shits about this game honestly which makes it look pretty bad. If this was the first time i saw this game i would have the same reaction as you do. There's surprisingly some pretty good mechanics in the game like interacting with the other SCPs and trying to figure out how to avoid/contain the lethal ones. The main problem was that they didn't care about playing the game and basically just did so to probably get people off their backs. I think its disappointing because i know that there is quite a lot to the game. At least, i thought it was pretty interesting when Markiplier played it.
