He was an awesome dude! My dad thought he was great and that's how he became a hero of mine. I met him a few times at Washougal. The first time was in 92 I think. I was about 10 and was wearing my first new AXO jersey it my name and number airbrushed in the back. I was wearing it while walking around the day before my day to race during amateur days so that's what I had for him to sign. I still have it and I didn't race in it or anything even though I really thought it was something special then. The autograph and meeting him that first time was more special.

My first bike as an adult was a road registered 1981 TT350. I remember the local shop owner saying to me if you can master riding a motorcross bike on the road with knobby tyres, you'll be able to ride anything. 42 yrs later I'm still upright and still enjoying riding. I recently spied a partly dismantled TT350 in a neighbours garage and when I mentioned my early history with one he said 'if you can push it home you can have it!' I don't think I have ever moved so fast to get my gym shoes on and push a bike up a hill and into my garage. I have spent two years collecting NOS parts for it, the rebuild will start soon. I just have to remind myself it's a 20 yr old mind in a 60 yr old body when I get it on the road. 😅👍

@@jakk222rem I have several to restore, but this is the only vintage mx bike I have (must be over 30 yrs old to qualify). It's been said 'that I have a good head for radio' so I want to teach myself to do video edits and subtitles first. At the moment I am building a new workshop/ultimate man cave, by the time it's finished I hope my video skills are up to date. I have a brace of early (proper) Suzuki Katana's to do as well. Here's to hoping that I live long enough to get it all done. 😉👍

A interesting made for TV type race sponsored by ABCTV. The French developed a spin-off called SuperMoto but it was a bit more asphalt biased. They also use 17” sized f&r street tires compared to the dirt track spec 19” tires front and rear. I prefer this original type of race with more dirt bias. I’d love to see a version of Superbikers held at Glen Helen.

This was a made-for-TeeVee event, called the "Superbikers." The concept was to attract the best riders from the 3 disciplines of motocross, flat-track, and road racing; and pit them against each other on a hybrid course that contains elements of all 3 forms of racing. Supermotard/Supermoto came years later, and the courses are nowhere near as challenging.
