The drum workflow alone makes this pretty damn sweet. One could make a full record with no "computer" this way for sure. At least no screen. Nice limitation

I don't want to come across as negative, but there are still unresolved fundamental issues like MIDI behavior with external devices, like running out of sync/no ability to midi map standalone. Effects not functioning as expected, the inability to create and save racks, move tracks, or copy and paste scenes, arrange tracks, do follow actions, export tracks etc? Push 3 standalone is still quite a way from being truly standalone. Before we discuss all the great and exciting future features, I would appreciate seeing how these issues are being addressed. These in my opinion are essential in terms of creating a song and have a project where the tracks and scenes are arranged conveniently for your workflow etc. Imho these should've been there on day one, but still not seeing them makes me a bit worried about the development. Many bugs remain unaddressed, and there's no clear roadmap after one year.

Ahhh......they'll get to that stuff in 2034. Just hang on, man. And who needs to arrange and finish stuff anyway? Just jam, brah! 😆 Actually I thought they would have proper vocal pitch correction (their own version of Waves/Antares/etc..) conveniently built-in by now.

Standalone is a meme, can't believe people fall for that. The Push 3 is huge, having a laptop with it is not really a much bigger deal to me. And paying 1k to have an underpowered laptop with a shit UI? Hard pass. Push has always shined, and forever will, when it's connected to Ableton Live and you can use the computer in tandem. It's fundamental design is not great for standalone. Akai Force was on the right track, I still find it to be the be a better standalone, but AKAI has all but abandoned it. Still, standalone for me means "Pay a shit ton of money for an underpowered PC and squint at a small screen."

@@sergoz123 while small compared to your macbook, it's big for a standalone device not running a bunch of other things, with a dedicated OS. However, if a Push 1 or Push 2 or a Launchpad or APC40 with a laptop does what you want, I'm all for it. I don't claim this is the answer for everyone and incredible music can be made on a phone these days. Find your setup and stick with it when it works. But we are committed to making Push 3 get better over time for people who dig it.

He's presenting a rack sponsored by ES with a FH-2 running 8 outs. Then he is using the Push 3 cv outs to use 8 more for something that i'm not sure is ever properly explained. As he admits he is not ready to use the rack and keeps his hands on the Push for most of the video. I find myself irritated that the power of the FH-2 is so underscored here. By a rep from a different company who is only interested in pitching his Push 3. Yet if he bought an FH-2 expansion card, he wouldn't need to use the Push 3 cv outs. He wouldn't need the Push at all. Because you can do insane things with that rack using a FH-2 and a $20 midi controller. But you would never know that watching this video. People who don't know any better would walk away from this thinking they need a Push 3 when it's the FH-2 that would switch their brains up overnight. There is also no way in hell those cv outs on the Push 3 are as flexible as my FH-2. I could also use my Push 2 + FH2 to do completely bananas things in ways you would never understand from watching a demo like this. Apologies if I seem like I am dying on the hill a little too hard. The FH2 is the most innovative and useful pieces of gear I have bought in many years. The rack was sponsored for a reason. It would be great if the rep got to know about what he's using besides what he's been taught to sell.
@JesseWTerry8 ай бұрын
Sorry, bad choice of words/joke. It was not actually sponsored by Expert Sleepers, I just love their stuff as it makes so much of what I do possible. The FH2 is indeed amazing and I am barely scratching the surface of it. I needed 7 audio inputs (3 for the drums, 4 for the synth), and 22 outputs (6 for the drums (3 triggers, 3 expression) coming from the ES-3 and 16 for the 4 synth voices (CV/Gate/Pressure/Slide for each of 4 voices, all coming from FH2 with expanders). The best combo I could come up with is FH2 plus ES3 + ES6 + Push inputs. There are many different ways to do this I'm sure! For instance the FH2 could send CV to the drums, or I could use MIDI, etc. My intention was to show one of the many ways it's possible to use this with the expressive pads, sorry if that did not come through. In this setup I didn't use the Push CV outs at all. At home those go to my Pro One, which has given it new life for me.
@JesseWTerry8 ай бұрын
Also, you can definitely do bananas things with Push 2 and an FH2. The slide and PB add an additional level of expression with Push 3. But you can do sick stuff with a Push 1, and we are happy if you do. We put a lot of time into improvements for Push 2 with Live 12. We're anti-planned obsolescence as best we can at Ableton.

This demo reminded my of a very assertive boxer before the boxing match, talking a great game about how he's gonna totally dominate a fight, run rings around the other guy...very confident.. Then the boxing match starts and he gets knocked out with the first punch from the quiet guy in the other corner of the boxing ring. yap yap yap.... demo music? 'oh' yes i'm a bit harsh... but was not greatly impressed with the outcome of all that set up.
