That is quite a revolutionary user interface for FM. Interesting.

well, its doing away with the camera connection kit of an ipad and adds some dedicated knobs. finally.

I clicked on this because I thought it was going to be some Gameboy styled hipster device… Completely blown away with how well this seems to be put together, and even at this early state how intuitive and creative the workflow appears. This is one I’m watching, for sure. What a cool device. 4op FM doesn’t sound like the most exciting proposition in 2024, but this really nailed it. I’m impressed.

Such a cool synth. Love the way each 4op layer can be enveloped basically in a custom way.

Dude, this is a masterclass in UI design. Just looking at your screen gestures I understood what you were doing to affect the sound. This is great, I wish this was an iPad app or a MPC compatible plugin

Looks cool, i love FM synthesis. I was curious what the physical controls do...
@GizzyDillespee4 ай бұрын
Good luck with its continued development. I have no idea what most of your movements were exactly doing... I heard, for example, you say "detuning", and I could hear it but I couldn't understand the process to get there. That's fine, and par for course, for fm synths that I've never seen before. No worries - I haven't looked at a manual or tutorial (because there isn't one yet), and it seems easy to make happy accidents, and it seems to sound good. The on-screen design and the sound both seem promising. The physical device looks like a prototype, which it is. Sometimes it can be fun to adjust multiple parameters at the same time (hi opsix!) so I'd suggest making it easy to plug a 8 or 9 band fader bank into this, with a template or 2 of ready-mapped parameters to each fader. I'd suggest mapping the main volume to fader 9, or some other parameter that's duplicated elsewhere, so that people who have only 8 faders don't miss out too much. Or if no templates, at least allow the user to map MIDI faders to parameters. Or maybe you're planning to add more physical controls to the hardware itself? Either way, I look forward to further development, to see where this ends up.

Sounds amazing, the work flow is superb and tactile, tho i don’t like how it looks at all, so please make a version in full black with aluminum knobs also for customers like me that are not to much in “❤”s and candy stuff.
@hakonsoreide4 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same thing in regards to the look of it. The screen GUI looks great, but the rest of it, admittedly a 3D-printed prototype, makes it look a bit like a toy for a 4-year-old at first glance.
@Bigger-Circuitry-Bigger-SOUND4 ай бұрын
@@hakonsoreidetoy can be ok for some people but man please a not toy version for the rest of customers. i would love to bring it live for gigs but i will never in this look. my set up consist in a prophet X, SH5, sp1200 and 3dwave so i need a great sounding performative FM but if i would ad this thing to the rest of the set up it would make everything look silly and cheesy. To me when live performing i consider the look of the set up is important too because it adds to the experience of the Audience and tell a story of the artist personality

I'm not entirely fond of the way it looks either, but I don't think making it look like a Russian oligarch's luxury car will fix that. This design absolutely needs splashes of colour.
@hakonsoreide4 ай бұрын
@@turbochargedfilms If you have a black plain synth, it's easy to add splashes of color for instance using stickers.
@Bigger-Circuitry-Bigger-SOUND4 ай бұрын
@@turbochargedfilms you don’t need to make it look like a russian oligarch, the M8 mk2 tracker is an example that looks super dope, futuristic, modern and total classy, same with 1010music BlackBox it is so quality build and looks cool to me! they can offer 2 versions in my opinion: - one with 🍬🎀🧸🎈❤️look - and a second version similar to the m8 mk2 tracker or blackbox, full black metal with 4 aluminum knobs like Universal Audio pedals. this synth sounds so good and the work flow is super clever but i can’t gig around with gears that look like ❤️🎀🧸🍬🎈 i say it respectfully just as a feedback to the developers

Form factor is pretty odd given that most of the video was using the touch interface. I think the design will change a lot. Give it a sequencer and a reason to have buttons and knobs and it’ll be a hit. Right now it is like an iPad mini in a 3d printed case for looks and appeal. What they are showing looks awesome but so many questions about the overall design and size.

I liked the interface when I tried it out, but there seems to be a lot of unused real estate on the bottom of the device with the buttons, which makes the device a bit large. (Of course, I have no idea how much space the electronics take up.) Personally, I'd prefer a smaller device with the same screen size and without losing the natural mapping of the pots.
@DoctorRevers4 ай бұрын
I’m not sure what the physical controls are use for exactly but looks like there’s quite a bit of space. Would it make sense to have a touch capacitive keyboard underneath with a couple knobs and buttons?
